Topic: Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker

Didn't see a topic for this, so I thought I'd make one.

I actually watched the anime first, thinking I'd never get the game (this was before Record Breaker was announced), so I skipped over the first campaign. I will say, the Triangulum story is much more different from the first campaign, and at the moment, I have no idea where the plot is going. In a way, it makes me that much more excited about the game.

So, Record Breaker: do you have it? What're your thoughts on it?

I think I'm still waiting for it to be $40 or less at Gamestop. I'll give it another month or so. I still have the DS version shrinkwrapped...shoulda sold it when I had the chance...

@CanisWolfred Dude, the game's really good though. Worth 50$ imo.

I am waiting until it goes on sale. Here in Canada it`s $60 so to me it`s not worth it. I do not have a lot of free income since I have three kids.

I'm not paying $50 for it. I've gone from buying all of Atlus' releases day one to waiting until they go on sale significantly lower than what I would have originally paid for them before I pick them up. If they're going to jerk me around with these prices, then I'm not giving them my support.

I'm sure the game is fantastic, though. Those extra cutscenes and bonus campaign look amazing. I'll definitely pick it up when the price dips under $30.

I doubt the retail games will drop in prices, they didn't make loads of them so if anything the price will go up so if you're looking for a bargain it'll have to be the eshop version.

I don't care about that. I just am not going to pay $60 right now when I have to get some stuff fixed and buy myself a New Nintendo 3DS XL, which I am hoping we get the new Animal Crossing edition.

I thought this was a prequel to Devil's Third.

That's what I mean. Atlus games usually get steep discounts in the eshop.

But it's not worth $90, which is how much I'll have spent between the DS and 3DS versions...

It really isn't. I'm not going to buy THE SAME GAME twice at full price. I don't care that they added an extra episode, I spent $40 on it on the DS and it's still sitting on my shelf shrinkwrapped, and I can assure you it's not going to be easy to find someone who wants to pay $40 for an inferior version of a last gen product to make up for my loss. Honestly, I don't buy remakes unless it's either at a discount, it's in a bundle, I don't have the other version, or I don't have access to the other version. And I don't see why anyone should. You already bough the game once, why do you need it again if you can still readily play what you have?

If you have an answer, I'd be happy to listen. Otherwise, I'll wait until it's $15 like I did with Overclocked, which is more reasonable and gave me a reason to sell off the DS version, since I probably won't get more than $15 for the DS versions of the Devil Survivor games, and I have just 2 too many DS boxes on my shelf at the moment, and it's driving me nuts...

Yeah, which was my point. I wasn't trying to argue, at least not at first. I'm just venting. Some guy told me to waste more money twice, and since I'm not allowed to just say "go **** yourself", I said the next best thing.

I want it but I won't go there. People that know me already have heard my rant more times then needed to be heard.

Well it's set up gameplay-wise exactly like the first Devil Survivor, though the story is only similar. So far it hasn't been too difficult like the first one.

It's already down to $41 on Amazon. I expect by next year it'll drop into the $30 range, which will be good for me.

If I started playing the Triangulum while in the midst of playing the original campaign, I would spoil a lot, right?

This game is already on sale (eshop) and that was faster then expected. With it also being on sale on Amazon I'll assume no one is buying at 50$. Maybe the message is finally starting to get through but I sure hope Atlus doesn't think it's because we don't want the games. I'll buy it in the next sale as I just got Persona Q. Still don't want this at 40$ even. Make me pay an extra 10$ I'll take away an extra 10$.

I just don't feel like supporting a company with day-one purchases when their strategy is to milk the fans who are excited for their games with over-inflated price tags and then further punish said fans by rapidly dropping the prices of their games in sales.

Although I'll be buying Persona 5 as soon as it releases. Etrian Odyssey V as well, if it doesn't drown the player in story mode nonsense. And definitely SMT V, whenever that comes out.
