Re: Nintendo's Strict Policy On MiG Carts Is Creating A Problem For Secondhand Switch 2 Buyers

If I remember correctly you had to modify Xbox360 for possibility of ban, and you cant modify without opening it, and you cant open it because Xbox360 had security sticker.

So sellers were just checking for broken security sticker, here seller cant do anything because nothing is modified. Both outside or inside console.

So its completely different situation.

Then you must be a politican, sir. "I dont need to understand what im talking about, the only important thing is that im always right"

@slytherin_real
No you are absolutely right, this thing is absolute nightmare. Imagine you buy a Switch 2 for your kid, all checked with seller that is working correctly, then you keep it in a closet waiting for kids birthday or something. You cant even return that later because most of the time you only have 2 weeks of "no questions asked" return window.

Its not working like that.

Every gaming company do bans in "waves" and clearing your console localy do nothing because logs are already uploaded to their servers.

In other words, you can buy Switch 2, you can factory reset, it might work for a week or month or longer, then BAM you get a ban.

What Nintendo is doing is dumb as *****, this creates so much confusion and bad experience, really not sure how its worth it for them.

Its impossible to check because Nintendo is not allowing anybody to get access to their database of flagged devices.

Truth is, if console is not modified in any way then it should be perfectly safe to buy used. See you in European court Nintendo.

Its Nintendo's problem that they cant stop piracy even on completely unmodified systems, its called incompetence.

Well some people use AI to simulate girlfriend now and they are happy, so yeah, idiocracy is real.

AI can be perfectly good for things like generating some NPC dialogs or whatever but the problem is that nobody trust these companies enough that they will not go "all in" with AI and start generating literally everything.

These companies are lika aligators, you give them your finger and they will eat you alive.

I remember when I was reading interview with Icewind Dale 2 creator. Managers gave him 9 months to make this game. You add maybe 3 months for "things we couldnt anticipate" and you get 12 months.

We went from 1 year of development cycles to 7+ years now. To anyone who has a brain this is completely crazy, It just shouldnt be allowed because once you cross 2 years mark you simply loose control of both finances and project scope.

Demo of Rhythm Festival was working just fine on my Switch 2 handheld when I was testing it, just not very enjoyable.

IMO if Nintendo is serious about all of this they need to:

1. Make Switch 1 games compatibility better, because for some reason many games are way too blurry (I own 250 Switch 1 games and majority look ugly in handheld mode on Switch 2). We need at very least smarter/better upscaling algorithm.

There are some really smart upscalers out there, but even something like: upscale Switch 1 game internally to 1440p then downscale to 1080p would be much better than what we have currently, because currently even 2D UI is blurry mess.

2. Quickly release version with better screen for people who actually care, it can be more expensive, price doesnt matter.

This whole thing seems so uninspired, we have tech, we have smart people, yet Nintendo seems lethargic.

Its just a sign of really bad managers, i worked in couple huge corporations so i can tell there is massive difference between good and bad manager.

Good manager -> takes budget, takes number of people and creates space for projects that would fit into set budget while calculating all kinds of risks so they can be included in budget too.
There are always so many options in software development, in gaming you can just create smaller but more games.

Bad manager -> just "go with the flow" in other words "do nothing" and always shifts blame on external factors.

AI is just another tool that bad managers can use to hide their incompetence behind of.
