How dare thee say the original Final Fantasy is less than epic, or some how lesser than the sequels. This is one of, and likely the most important of games that defined the next era of role playing games, it should be treated with respect and reverence. This is like the Harriet Tubman, or the Cesar Chavez of rpgs. That is to say a bold title that broke free from the chains of oppression and opened the doors for a thousand other games that would never have came to be without this proceeding epicness.

Go ahead and say this game is only for those with a vested interest in vintage games, nostalgia be thy name. This game is the book of Exodus, an early and important chapter so near the Genesis of RPG console games, and yet it takes us so far. This game is not unlike Moses and it will lead you through the wilderness to the Mountain of Sinai. Enter the land of Canaan and pay homage to the Tabernacle, warriors of light.

I have to agree that the GBA version is rubbish, the nes orignal is an excellent challenge that requires some time and effort. Forget about auto target, it's more fun to learn your enemy. After a dozen or so battles you'll have a good feel of how many more points of damage/attacks are needed. Ninety nine of anything is totally unneeded. I dismiss these complaints.

NES Final Fantasy's degree of challenge is superior. Playing the remakes is blah, incredibly easy.

Tecmo Super Bowl for the NES is the pinnacle of two player football action.

Unfortunately I don't think we'll see it unless they replace the licensed NFL teams and players.

Wii Ware is better then 90% shovel-ware. VC is also the main reason why I bought I Wii.

I'll stick with PC gaming in the future, for all my gaming needs. I'll be sure to let NoA know it too.

I'd like to see a full time line of how the gold cart got from Nintendo to where it is now.

Well worth it to any old school Final Fantasy fan. The cartridge remakes are set at a similar price, with no real new content.

If you buy a whole new system just to get it in a different color you should really look into some charities or something that could really use some money...

I'd buy a Wii-Ware Love Tester.

Graphics have almost no effect on the quality of game play. Game play is the winning focus.

Classic strategy game. My personal favorite is Shingen the Ruler but this is very good.

I like how he adds microsoft and sony's numbers and states that they outsell Wii as if they were the same company. Oh wait because if dual ownership they only equal it.

Cheers to SD cards! Nothing I've read has addressed if you can play games off the SD card on someone else's Wii. I'm guessing we are not the lucky?

Musical copyright infringement has to do with copying entire measures of songs exactly.

Like with ice ice baby, the bass line is exactly that of Under Pressure.

None of those Earth Bound examples display exact copies.

You've got to be kidding me. Those songs sound in no way like direct rip offs. They may share a similar tone or arpegio but come on. Is that really the reason why? I don't see any real case based on those examples.

We've gotten a basket full of good games in recent months. My prediction would be to brace yourselves for a few more 'weak' release dates, and cross your fingers for Christmas.

Cheers to Simon's Quest. That game brings back great memories of a summer spent long ago. The game is an original epic quest, those early innovators had their work cut out for them. The game was unlike anything out there at the time.

I'll admit access to nintendo power may have been quite helpful in that old age before there was a real internet. I'm thinking of a particular dead end, where the method of passage is not so obvious.

Regarding the Top 20 list It would be great to see more of this kind of content to peruse in between release dates.

Christian video games, that is a gas.
I'd prefer to see the release of Bubble Bath Babes and Satantica II: Sodomy Rising.

I was impressed I got an actual unique response, and not just an automated 'Thanks for your comments, Nintendo cares about what you think' line.

Long time reader, first time poster.

I forgot who it was, but a few months ago some one here posted about how they had emailed NoA about their displeasure with the quality and variety of virtual console releases. I'd like to thank them for the inspiration.

I took it to queue and wrote them my own letter of dissatisfaction, and I imagine quite a few others did too. Perhaps it’s coincidental but there really have been some great releases since a few weeks after that.

So did anyone else go as far as to contact NoA and tell them to give us the goods?

p.s. interestingly their responding email was snide and boisterous.
