It is a shame that the Inazuma 11 series have not come across to America (with one exception that I know of). I enjoyed the Inazuma 11 game that was offered on the 3DS eshop and was hoping for more sport rpgs. Hopefully more such games come to America (especially the baseball rpg that is very popular in Japan).
@ChibiNinja 1. Story was top notch! The opening scene, alone, draws you in from the beginning. As you go through the labyrinth, some of the area's descriptions are so disturbing. 2. One of very few rated M games for the 3DS! 3. Couple of ways to capture demons. 4. The first SMT game where your character is directly involved in battles.
@Executer66 Most SMT are standalone so from a story perspective, you won't miss anything. If talking gameplay difficulty, that may be a barrier to you. The first time I played SMT Strange Journey, I somehow managed to defeat the first boss, however, something happened to my save and I had to go through it again. This time, I met the boss too early and it defeated me quite easily. It took me several tries to get passed it. Combat can be easy or very difficult depending on the demon types you place in battle.
Has anyone gotten all 3 rainbow pieces in the demo? I filled the requirement to obtain a piece 4x but was only given 2. I'm at a loss as to the right requirements because I finished each game with all the people safe
@Supadav03 The 3rd one would be best if you plan on getting only 1 of the 3. It builds on the other 2 and I've heard the multiplayer is better. Having said that, unless you are familiar with the Naruto series, you may feel lost in the story. Each game in the series pertains to a certain period in Naruto's story. Also, the trilogy is $40 compared to each one, separately costing $20 each! Just beware of the time required to download a 17+gb game. It took me about 5hrs to download the trilogy!
@FredTheCat I did not know that! Thanks for the info!
I bought a 128 gb Sandisk mini sdxc card for a ouple of reasons. One, I learned from xp (mainly from owning a 3DS) that you cannot get every game you desire in physical form. Many of the indie games are digital only. Second, downloading demos, updates, and DLCs will fill up the card pretty fast. Finally, a few physical games require that you have a certain amount of memory to download rest of the game.
I have not had the Switch for that long and until yesterday, been playing Disgaea 5. I was very tempted to get South Park as my 2nd Switch game but opted instead to purchase a mini sdxc card so that I could download the Naruto Trilogy. It took over 5 hrs to download that sucker. Finally got the chance to play a little of it today. Finally got into a groove picking up the lower lvl missions. For some reason, I started out with S and A type missions.
I am grateful that Square decided to bring FF VII to the PlayStation. I was leaning towards the N64 but the cost of its games and the limitation of running a long CG cut scene made me ultimately decide on the PS. I don't regret it at all since the PS became the console for adult gamers.
I did buy my first Nintendo console with the purchase of the Gamecube. I wish Nintendo had used the full capability of that system...
One of the best part of the EO series is drawing the map manually. It gives me that zen like feeling as I map the level. The other part is discovering combos among party members.
The only thing I did not care about with EOV was the visual character customization. I found it tedious and therefore boring.
@CSX6602 Do you still have an extra Flipnote code? I've missed the opportunity to download it when I took a break from playing 3DS games. Also, if you have a Miitomo app, I would like to add you as a friend. If you would like to add me as a friend I put up the link on Miitomo Friend Exchange thread.
My list would be different except for a couple of games. I agree that Super Mario 3D Land, Fire Emblem Awakening, Pokemon XY, and Mario Kart 7 should be on the list but not every Legend of Zelda that came out for the 3D. None of the Zelda games that have come out are new. They are all remakes! Maybe A link Between Worlds because that is the most extensively remade game.
Besides the 4 that I have mentioned above I would have added Resident Evil Revelations, Etrian Odyssey IV, Kid Icarus, Bravely Default, Theatrerhythm Final Fantasy, and Mario and Luigi Dream Team. It is a shame that a lot of great mature games for the 3DS get overlooked!
I was really excited for this game because I was looking forward to the social link mechanic that Persona is known for but that mechanic is absent in this version. Instead we get heaps of dialog akin to the Tales franchise which is really a weak substitute.
I also don't like that the format closely resembles Etrian Odyssey with the mapping (although very limited) and cast placement. They should have stuck more with its parent game, the Shin Megami Tensei series.
I really wish now that they would have just ported Persona 3 and/or 4 over to the 3DS. Having said that, I do like the graphics and I've heard great things about how it uses the 3D effect.
I was excited to see a new if temporary item on the Club Nintendo site. I promptly ordered one since I do need one but don't feel like forking over actual money to obtain one. I'll use mine to carry boardgames over to friend's house.
You guys may get different preorder bonuses but the one we got in NA was a CD containing rough drafts of some of the music shown in the finished product. Personally I was very disappointed with the preorder bonus. There was no instruction booklet included that used to be typically packaged in the physical product. Instead the bonus is a very thin booklet of several art with the CD in it.
If or when EO:MG comes to America, I will buy it on day 1! I had a chance to buy the first one but the 2nd one was right next to it and I opted for the more recent version. Now with the remake, I will be able to (hopefully) enjoy the game (if I don't end up throwing my 3DS in frustration ).
I'm all for the remake not just because I never played the first one but because I hate how the DS graphics are displayed on the 3DS. The stretching and bleeding of colors just bother me to the point where I've turned off the game after a few minutes of playing. The remake would at least readjust the size of the screen even if the graphics are left as is (which I won't mind). However I will be ecstatic if the graphics received a face lift and even 3D'd.
I'm definately not downloading the game- I'm getting the physical copy simply for the xtras!
Glad for the demo because some gamers have it in their head that 1st person view of combat is boring. I'm usually gritting my teeth after I input all of the actions I will take.
I loved the classes in EO II because they were so wacky! EO III brought the classes down to more typical fantasy classes and unfortunately it looks to be the same for EO IV. However, the skill system in every game has been fun in exploring which skill sets work best for your play style.
I know some people don't like the cute anime style of the game but personally I love it. The artwork has been steadily improving over each iteration and EO IV looks even more amazing than EO III.
I rather get the physical copy for this game due to the xtra stuff such as the artbook. I do like the concept of retail games having its digital counterpart however. I opted for the digital version of the retail Art Academy and that took up 3,000+ blocks and will continue to grow as they offer more DLCs. My next digital retail game will be Animal Crossing whenever that comes out.
Personally, I'm not happy about the region lock myself but I've come to accept it and move on. Now with digital downloads of retail, I'm more hopeful that games that don't normally come out in the USA region will more likely be made available.
I'm still apprehensive about digital downloads and vastly prefer physical copy over digital but I've slowly started to build up my digital collection. I bought my first retail-now-digital "Art Academy". I will follow up with Animal Crossing when it comes out. Other than that I will pick up physical copies of games if I can.
To Peach: The reason why digital games are more expensive for consoles and dedicated gaming handhelds is because it caters towards a smaller segment of gamers- the hardcore gamers- and also the games made for digital distribution for these dedicated gaming machine have a higher cost investment by the company producing the game.
Etrian Oddyssey series takes its inspiration from old school crpgs such as Bard's Tale and Might and Magic. The gameplay is extremely difficult (although the 3rd in the series eased up the difficulty) so much so that you are almost guarenteed at least one party member killed on your first outing. Throughout the game there is a good probability of TPK.
The story starts off slow but once it starts going, you'll be on the edge of your seat.
The artwork has steadily improved but the character art has always been very good anime characters.
One of the things I love most about EO is discovering the synergistic effects of party members. There are enough combinations to suit each player's taste.
I've played a copy of it and it really is a great hybridization of soccer and rpg. It has a bit of pokemon thing going on in that you are constantly trying to recruit new players and each player has his/her own strengths and weaknesses as well as well as over the top abilities.
I really hope that a 3DS iteration of the series comes to America.
You would be a fool not to get this game at that price. I consider it well worth its original price. I don't normally like platform games but this game is one of the few exceptions.
If you like strategy rpgs then you'll love this interpretation of Pokemon. If you have never tried a strategy rpg then this is a good intro with enough depth to give you more challenge later in the game. I've heard the game really opens up later in the game so it may become more challenging later in the game.
At first I was intimidated by Sudoku but got the hang of it after trying a few of the easy ones. I got the Brain Age version which I heard was the best. It has room to jot down all possible numbers on a single square (you zoom in and out). I play it whenever I go overseas or on public transportation.
I don't get people's objection. It's not like they are from Playboy. They look more like fashion magazine models.
As some have said, it is free and it is an alarm clock which some may find more useful than others. I just wonder if the alarm sound will be loud due to 3DS sound being subpar.
