Re: Mario Kart Wii Sold Five Times As Many Copies As Mario Kart 8 Over The Last Financial Year

I own switch and wii u (had 2 wii in the past as well) and I still buy and play wii games! Actually I have to admit that wii (and older games in general) games are great and have something in them. Now I am playing Metroid Prime Trilogy, Zelda Skyward Sword and Goldeneye 007 on my Wii U and these games rocks. My collection of Wii and Wii U games is huge and is still growing. Especially now Wii games are very cheap and are really solid and good games to play. Also I play a lot of great Virtual Console games (like whole castlevania collection, Zeldas, Paper Marios etc.). Honestly, there are some nice games on my switch but I find my Wii U still very attractive gaming system

Re: Hackers Are Already Uploading Additional Games To The Switch NES Library

Now this is interesting. In the past when you had to buy every single game (like for wii u virtual console) such action was commented that nintendo is loosing money. But here if you pay for the online service 1 price no matter how many games are in there how nintendo is loosing money? If someone adds rom to their collection it is only argument that nintendo should release all nes games faster, not by 3 monthly. But anyway, if nintendo releases eg kirbys adventure you will pay the same money not more. So nintendo is getting maximum profit right now and argument of loosing the money is not valid

Re: Eiji Aonuma Says There’s A Possibility The Next Zelda Title Will Be On Switch

Well, the point is that on my wii u I have:
Zelda 1
Zelda 2
Zelda Link to the Past
Zelda Minish Cap
Zelda Ocarina of Time
Zelda Mask of Majora
Zelda Phantom Hourglass
Zelda Spirit Track
Zelda Twilight Princess HD
Zelda Wind Waker HD
Zelda Skyward Sword
Zelda BOTW

Which gives 12 Zeldas to play on 1 system for fan of the genre.
How many Zeldas are on switch?

Re: Wii U Receives First System Firmware Update Since 2017

@tedko this is exactly my point. I can play almost all zelda, mario, metroid, castlevania and many more (like advance wars, drill dozer and many many more) on one console. I have so many great quality games on wii u I haven't yet completed (like 100) that I can see myself playing it for years. And biggest problem with switch is there are not so many good games. Actually I would be interested only in mario oddysey. Can't see any other game worth playing when you compare it for example to any castlevania or metroid or mega man which are plenty on wii u. These are very high quality games and cheap.

Re: Wii U Receives First System Firmware Update Since 2017

To me big thing in wii u is that i can play all these great games in a seconds on 1 console. I have other nintendo consoles but found myself rebuying some games to have them on wii u just for convinience (and save states). Wii U on it's own has great games but if you add virtual console there is no console to compare. And these virtual console games are much better than newer games. The other thing is you can buy wii and wii u games now very cheaply. Switch games in comparison are very expensive right now.

Wii U - one of the best consoles ever. In some time people will miss this console and prices will be very high.
There is no console like wii u where you can plan on tv and gamepad, there are so many controllers and accesories, and what is more important you can play nes, snes, gameboy advance, nintendo 64, turbographx, ds, wii and wii u games, also balance board games! There are so many great games to play.
Yesterday I played castlevania 3 (nes), dracula x ,contra and wild guns (snes), pokemon pinball (GBA), mario 64 and wave race (N64) and mario kart (wii u). All games available in seconds at will and with savestates. I own almost all great virtual console games + wii and wii u games and this machine is great and provides fun for years of gaming.
Can't see another console (even switch) giving all that.

@Nehalem
Nazis. You mean Germans? It is not silly. My grandfather had to escape and save his life when they destroyed his house and burned everything and killed many people. Not silly topic to me really so probably not best to continue such discussion.

Human rights. At that time vote rights for women, afroamericans etc. were not considered human rights. This was supposed to be an example of how time and law can and should be changed and follow trends.
Unfortunately law is not always fair. It is very often created to suit lobbies interest.

Message board isn't probably the best place to discuss this matter and it is complex one. Such discussion like here demands shortening messages and it is sometimes bad and lead to misunderstanding.
I am computer science guy and also manager and businessman. I also do some science research in these areas.
Sales and marketing and obviously money is what is important for Nintendo. And it is ok. But from sociology and science point of view (and adding technological possibilities nowadays) what is happening right now with games industry, distribution and business models is very interesting. There are many interesting science articles in this matter and I suggest reading them. But basically Nintendo (and others) wants to control you, your behaviour and buying/gaming habits. Is it ethical? I think people are more and more aware of such things and in my opinion this model is not the way for the future but I can be wrong obviously although I hope that people can and should put pressure on huge corporations (larger than countries nowadays) and control them, not the opposite.

If you like you can start with this article (a bit old but very good explanation) which refers to intellectual property and emulation but shows how business model of Nintendo looks like.

Re: Pre-Orders For Nintendo Switch Online Subscriptions Go Live On Amazon

So Nintendo wants us to:
1. Pay for online multiplayer.
2. Pay for access to 30+ years old games without option to buy them.
3. Pay for cloud saves.

And we live in 2018 not 1998..

As much as I like Nintendo games I am afraid that company doesn't follow changing times and people's needs.
How long can you base your business plan on loyal fanbase and newer versions of old games/ideas from glory days (Mario 25, Zelda 15 etc.)?

And instead allowing people to get what they want (like full library of NES/SNES/N64 etc. games for 3-5$ each) they prefer to stay locked and sue ROM sites and take legal actions.

What is interesting from sociology point of view there are people who will defend such dinosaur corporation no matter what it does.
It is like saying 'women have no rights to vote in 1900 and it is illegal for them to vote'.
Pressure is important
Times are changing and Nintendo has to change.
