Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part but seeing that many high-profile games have not been discounted at all this time around (though they had been offered at discounts, even large ones, in the past) I expect they are either holding out for next week (black Friday) or next month (Christmas)...
Family Plan (does not equal) NSO+ being a good value proposition.
I for one bought a family plan not to save on some large family of switch fans but as I needed another account (Nintendo to blamed for that) to be able to download and play online games in the Japanese region (anyone said "Region lock" is a bygone?). I am paying from a single salary for two accounts...
Now - my only option to get an NSO+ account is to upgrade the non plus family plan to plus family plan, for a very hefty price.
So yes - I do like Animal Crossing and would probably enjoy the new paid DLC. But where is the great value proposition on the new NSO+? You are right - there is not ...
This is really a pity as the game can surely benefit from more DLCs, such as new islands, new fruits, new flowers, new collectibles, new mini-games etc. True, Animal Crossing is full of content as it is, but it seems to me that there is so much unused potential for more...
That said, this is very much in line with Nintendo's sad and unfortunate tradition of coming up with great ideas just to leave them miserably under-used (just to give two examples you can think of the non-existing economy of Play Coins from the 3DS era, and the writable ability of the Amiibo which is basically only used in SMSB...)
@Jampie
You're right about Fantasy Life: Link! (still, 2000 yen is twice the price of a great eshop game such as Denpa Ningen RPG 3). But this new Bravely Default update is going to cost 2,900 Yen which seems a steep price to pay for what seems like small engine improvements.
And what's more important, this tactic of selling updated & improved version just a year after the launch of the original sure doesn't send a message of support to early adopters. Why buy the next game at launch if you can get an improved version for the same price a year, or even only 7 months (see fantasy life) down the road?
On the same note - it does worry me that as of late companies are expecting a full-price re-purchase of games for some added functionality and other niceties (see also: Fantasy Life from Level 5 which has been re-released as fantasy life: link, a few months after the original hit the shelves). Isn't it shooting yourself in the leg through sc***ing fans and early adapters? Why aren't such updates offered as a low-priced DLC update to those who already own the game? Not cool.
@astroshamu:
The game is really text heavy, and many features seem to require that you DO understand what they say (for example - neighbors hinting at their preferred birthday presents, status reports in the city hall etc.). Furthermore - much of the charm of this game comes from the humorous quirky text. That how it was in previous animal crossing versions and that's how it is now.
Another interesting tidbit I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere - the game features use of the 3ds Play Coins (those you get from walking in real-life) - you can exchange it for special fortune cookies with intriguing texts (e.g. a mustached-man is going to feature in your life) which in turn can be exchanged for exclusive objects (in this case - a Mario floor for your house). Really great
Rune factory 4 is brilliant so its certainly worthy of localization. It's the first one in the series I've played, and I love every minute of it. I've already invested dozens of hours in it - there is always something fun and interesting to do. It even utilizes Play Coins (which you can turn daily to in-game money at an ever-changing exchange rate...)
I'm willing to pay for new areas - for example if there would be in the future some new island packs to which you can travel by boat or some underwater areas to visit through diving or anything fun and crazy of the sorts. But it's surely a slippery slope as anyone who ever played The Sims should know
The price is not 150 points but rather 80 (i.e. 4 registered games or in my case - one registered console and 1 game) and this is certainly a great value and great game. Picross is addictive and brilliant (now considering how to get money to purchase Picross E2...)

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo 3DS XL
Has the vertical line scratch problem (caused by the raised edges of the bottom screen) been solved?
