Nice. Can't wait for Miiverse on 3DS. It's going to be HUGE when it comes out, because A LOT more people have 3DS's than Wii U's right now (two reasons, it has been out longer, and the Wii U sales have sucked to this point).
@Aqueous for some reason, personal messages are still limited to just 100 characters. Why would they double posts and comments but not messages? Nintendo, you continue to baffle me. Personally, I think messages should be 500, and you should be able to check or respond to them without having to open Miiverse.
@odd69 umm...a lot of people. Why does it matter that it's DLC? It's cheaper than the boxed copy will be, and out WAY earlier. Ever thought of that one?
@bizcuthammer We just got Yoshi for 30 cents and Mega Man 2-4 a couple of days ago.
@Mr_Trill281 Love your avatar. Go Spurs! What an annihilation in Game 3!
I like how they already decided to put Lebron James on the cover, when the NBA finals have just started (and his team is losing!). They should've put him on the cover of last year's game, because his team won the championship. In any case, Go Spurs!
I love how they brought back Luigi's unique traits in this; in NSMBWii and NSMBU, even when you play him, he is the exact same as Mario (as are the Toads/Miis). I'm definitely getting this, although I hope it isn't too expensive.
Considering there's like 3 people on Miiverse who've posted that actually have this game, I think I'll pass. Like @ClassicSonicFan said, are movie games even worth reviewing? I know there are exceptions, but they are few and far between. @zipmon good job bearing through this disgraceful game.
Streetpass has been working MUCH better since the update that changed the eShop font. Before, Puzzle Swap was really laggy and the frame rate was bad at times, especially when getting new pieces with play coins. Ever since the update, no more frame rate problems. I don't think it's a rumor.
Do any of you find it a bit sad that the most anticipated Wii U release (according to these voters) is a remake of an old game? Don't get me wrong; I love Wind Waker and definitely plan to buy it, but the fact that it's the most wanted Wii U game of 2013 is a bit depressing.
@Dazza One disadvantage you forgot: with digital games, you can no longer let anybody borrow your game without letting them borrow your entire system, which is a huge hassle. It'd be cool if they had some kind of "borrowing" system with digital games that would allow your friends to play a game on their system for a certain amount of time. Probably won't happen, but until it does, I'm sticking with retail. goes back to Runner2
Wow, great review @SpaceKappa! Agree with everything you said. Although I already have this for the Xbox 360, it seems like 2K finally made a good game for a Nintendo console, unlike all the past NBA 2k games on Wii. I won't be picking this up, but I wouldn't mind trying it for fun.
This doesn't affect me considering I don't live in Europe. But anyway, there's a bigger issue at hand here! With the steadily increasing availability of the internet, it's really hard to censor what you or your children play/look at. Many parents don't realize that porn is a huge problem, especially with adult males, and many teens as well. If you buy your kid an iPhone 5 or some other web-enabled mobile device/gaming system, they have constant access to whatever they want, and it's easy to hide what they've been looking at. Many people don't intend to become addicted to bad stuff on the internet, but once they experiment with it or happen to stumble upon it by chance, it's hard to stop, and as with any addiction, it can destroy your life. And concerning the Wii U, kids can just buy the 18+ rated games at a retail store, or have a friend buy it for them if they're too young. This can only be prevented by the parents. If they use strict parental controls on ALL electronic devices in the home that can access mature content, then their kids will have a much better chance of not being exposed to all the filth online.
At least the people in Japan realize the difference between a DS and a 3DS; didn't the DS outsell the 3DS in America during Black Friday weekend? Goodness.
That's good to hear. I've always had problems with input lag on our HDTV, which makes me really worry about playing a Wii U. It's hard to play a game (like NSMBU) that requires quick precision button pressing when there's always this REALLY annoying input lag. I've tried to fix it, but I can't. There's no "Game" mode to switch it to or anything. @anybody Just out of curiosity, does HDMI lower the amount of input lag, compared to, for example, the HD cords that you use for an Xbox 360?
I'm hating the battle system so far. What's the point of even going into battle if there is nothing gained from it except coins? Now I'm just trying to avoid enemies, whereas in Thousand Year Door, I enjoyed taking down everything around me because I knew I would LEVEL UP. That was one of my favorite parts of the game, and now, it's just gone. I'll reserve final judgement on the game until I beat it, but I can tell you that my opinion on the very flawed battle system won't change.
Why are people still buying DSi's instead of a 3DS/3DS XL? Don't people realize the 3DS has been out 20 months now? I blame Pokemon Black/White 2. But seriously, the 3DS sales should be well exceeding the DS at this point. Goodness. In other news, the Gamestop where I live still had plenty of deluxe set Wii U's in stock on Black Friday, I just called in the middle of the day, and they had one. Lucky me I guess
I would be playing New Super Mario Bros. U, but we aren't allowed to open it until Christmas. We bought the deluxe set today; we didn't want to risk it being sold out. So now it's just sitting in our closet, hidden from my little sister, and then it will make a grand appearance on Christmas Day. 1 month can't go any faster right now...
@MrWezzle Agreed. The VC section in the e-shop is very disorganized. How about separate them by category, like by genre, or platform, for example? There's too many to just have 5 pages you have to scroll through. One section: Game Boy Color, another Game Boy, Game Gear, NES, etc. It's not that difficult Nintendo! And you can't do an advanced search for a specific classic platform either, the only option is "Virtual Console (all)".
My personal top 5 would probably be 5. New Super Mario Bros. Wii 4. Super Smash Bros. Brawl 3. Super Mario Galaxy Tie for 1st: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Super Mario Galaxy 2
I think it's a toss up between LoZ: SS and SMG2 for the top spot IMO. And didn't TP get a lower score than SS on NL? Doesn't really make sense that TP's ranked higher.
@geozeldadude you can never get sick of dinosaur office, what's wrong with you? lol jk. personally I really do like me some dinosaur office. About the games, I already have 3 of the 4 retail/download games, LoZ:Oot 3D, SM3DL, and MK7. I like that they're available for download though. It might spark some good sales for them (even though they've already sold like crazy). That might be a good strategy for future first-party 3DS games. Release them retail-only, then a while later, re-advertise them for download on the e-shop. It could help sales, maybe not, but you never know.
@NintenKingiiU some people need to save all the money that they can. For many people, yes, $2.50 isn't much, but at the interest of the consumer, I wish Nintendo would've lowered it to $1.50 or 2 bucks tops. just sayin'
Can somebody post their impressions of the NSMB2 DLC? I'm considering buying the last one because I do like myself a good challenge, but $2.50 still seems a little pricey for 3 courses. Any feedback would be appreciated.
First of all, congrats NL, you're featured in the e-shop again (I made a forum topic about it). Seems like a pretty good week; still, $10 for Denpa Men seems a little pricey. Also, a little nitpick about the e-shop: the actual Virtual Console icon doesn't have Quarth in it, and when I look at Quarth, it states its original release date instead of the date it was released on the e-shop like all the other virtual console games. Consistency is needed Nintendo!
@DarkCoolEdge Having achievements gives a player more incentive to do certain things on their games, because each achievement would have a number (like gamerscore), and then all their friends could see what they've accomplished. I just used the million coins as an example, there are many, many more instances where achievements would be beneficial. It's just my opinion though, I'll still love Nintendo whether they do that or not.
I'm just fine with Super Meat Boy on my Xbox. That's why it helps to have more than one system Still, it would've been cool to have it on WiiWare. Although I really do like the achievement system for the 360, I hope the Wii U implements that (and maybe the 3DS in the future); it makes you feel more accomplished when you do certain things in a game. Imagine, New Super Mario Bros. 2 achievement: Collect a million coins. At least then all of your friends would know you did it, instead of some underwhelming new title screen.
@cyphid I know, I've looked for a setting like that many times before, but for some reason, the HD TV we have doesn't have a setting like that. It's a Sanyo 32". If there were some way to fix it, I'd play my 360 and Wii U on it all day, every day.
Man, if this was only $8 instead of $12, it would be an insta-download. But I'll probably still download it after I beat Kingdom Hearts 3D (which I'm borrowing from a friend).
So it's really true that the Wii U doesn't come with standard definition cables? I know a lot of people have HDTVs nowadays, but some people are still just fine playing on their SDTVs, heck, I play my 360 on a standard definition television. We have an HDTV, but it has noticeable input lag which makes gaming suck.
I think they made a mistake on Toki Tori. On the e-Shop, they call it a "downloadable game" and not "game boy color" like all the other virtual console games. They need to change that; I didn't know it was Virtual Console at first, and there's no "New" sign over the Virtual Console icon.
@grumblegrumble agreed. I don't plan on buying any major first party games digitally anytime in the near future. There's 3 files on my copy of NSMB2, so I can let 2 people borrow it, and better yet, they can play it on THEIR 3DS, and not have to borrow mine. And in a few years when I want a new game, I might consider trading it in for some cash, which is also something a digital copy can't do. Bottom line, physical is better.

So there'll basically be no sales until September 20th? Ok then.

@ikki5 that was for posts and comments. Messages were still only 100 until this update.

Re: Review: Brain Age: Concentration Training (3DS)
Just a tip: on the eShop, this costs $30, but at retail, at least at the gamestop I went to, they charge $35. Anyway, crazy hard game, but I love it!
