@Stoffe: I thought 'Well, that's it!" when the Game Gear Micro interview went up just now on Famitsu... but it's a different journalist! So... there's still hope... 🤣
@Alexface: Here & there, I suppose. 😂 Living here affords you the luxury of time! You can hunt around & wait for good deals, pick stuff up as you see them, etc. Sometimes, shops like Book-Off will have a "junk" section of broken/lower quality/untested consoles & games, so keep your eyes out for that.
And try to stay away from the big districts like Akihabara if you want deals! It's definitely worth a visit & you might find something every now & then in Akiba, but exploring outside the touristy areas not only gives you a better shot at better deals, but you'll get to see a different side of Japan, too!
Ughhh. Hard pass for me. Each of the four colours comes with 4 games... and only 4 games... and each one has different games, so you have to buy them all if you want all the games. No thanks.
Conveniently, there's also a 4-pack which also exclusively includes the Sega Big Window magnifier accessory.
Most of those are sold as junk/as-is, but then again... the risk is very, very low at those prices. 笑笑
I can attest to this being accurate about Japan, though! Over the years, I’ve actually ended up with a nice collection of around 30-40 GB/GBA/DS/3DS/PSP consoles in various colours because I’ve been spoiled by ¥300-¥500 a piece as-is systems. Some needed repair, but that’s half the fun!
This series & the Sudoku Relax series have some of the largest total playtime counts on my Switch. 😅 I can’t help it! I love puzzle games & Jupiter always does a fine job.
@KingMike: You do indeed have the mismatched variant! 🤓 This site has a great list & pictures of the known Canada variants (and known variants with mismatched Genesis & MD parts)!
@DjinnFighter: I think some places may have sold the US version (or maybe there were two versions?), but do an image search for “Sonic 1 Genesis Canada” & you’ll see it! I actually own a copy myself. 🤓 It’s so surreal! It has the EU art with the Genesis logo at the top. (I also have the Canadian variant of Sonic 2 with the slightly different EU artwork! It says Genesis but has the yellow checkerboard pattern on the sides.)
@Heavyarms55: Same here! I always wait until one of those promotions comes along where you get an extra ¥500 or something & buy a bunch of credit at once.
@Heavyarms55: Hey, fellow living in Japan person! 🤓 You're right: there's no physical ¥1000 cards anymore. (There used to be, though! Back in the Wii/3DS era...)
These days, ¥1500 is the most common/lowest valued physical card available, but at 7-11 (and possibly other conbinis?), you can purchase ¥1000, ¥2000, ¥3000 & ¥5000 codes using the copy machine!
It’s been SO HOT here in Osaka the past few weeks. We got a couple days here & there where it was a bit cooler, but I’m still sweating & using the Aircon today... 😅 In October! This is such unusual weather for Osaka...
Hopefully, the storm will miss us or weaken, but given the huge typhoon troubles we‘ve had in recent years, people are overly cautious in Kansai, so if it looks like it’s going to hit Kyoto, they’ll probably cancel it...
I think it’s just not as well known outside of Japan, so they prioritized other games, perhaps? (People know it, but it’s not a “classic SNES game”, so to speak. Whereas in Japan, it’s definitely more well remembered.)
Endlessly replayable, always entertaining & relaxing with colourful characters & great music. Good memories of endless hours playing the Nintendo Puzzle Collection version on GameCube with friends.
Come on, Nintendo! We need a new remake on Switch. (And just call it “Panel de Pon” globally. People got “Puyo Puyo”. They can handle Panepon. 🥰)
I was going to get one as a 2nd Switch, until I realised that I'd be locked out of my save games when using my primary account on a 2nd Switch with any digital games purchased from other regions using other accounts... 😩 (Plus, I'm just not a fan of the warmer screen they are using now...)
I'm standing on the edge of tomorrow... Leaving far behind my yesterday... ♪
Ahhh, I adore this film so much. Yeah, it's a commercial, but it's also a super fun little moment in time. And, I mean, what kid (or adult!) wouldn't want to run away & take a road trip with friends to play in a Nintendo game tournament in "Cali-for-nia"?! 🤓
@Kazujiro: Oh, wow! I didn’t realise that L+R weren’t actually involved! That’s great to hear. Thanks for saving my hands from cramping! 🤣😅 (And it makes sense, especially since the NES & Famicom control pads don’t have L & R... 😆)
@insertcoin2play: With the 8BitDo adapter & a SNES classic or SFC mini controller, pressing Start+Select+L+R together is ZL & ZR, which brings up the menu. And if you hold those buttons down for a second, it brings up the rewind menu! 🤓
It’s not a perfect solution, but it works well enough if you don’t want to get these official controllers.
The Satellaview is definitely my favourite obscure Nintendo peripheral... It was so cool & way too ahead of it’s time. サーテーラービューーーー! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dfw4CJZ-3QQ
I’m not a huge fan of the stylization of these, but at those prices, I’ll definitely be picking up all three on the JP eShop. It’s a good excuse & convenient way to play/replay the classics.
