Re: Watch: This 90-Minute Deep Dive Into Two Of The Most Underrated Zeldas Is Well Worth The Time

Never played Spirit Tracks but I absolutely hated Phantom Hourglass. Not more than I hated The Adventure of Link, but close.

Terrible DS graphics with washed out colors, overworld like a very boring version of The Wind Waker with low draw distance and enemies everywhere, that one neverending repeated stressful dungeon with the Phantoms, and on top of all of that just generally mediocre in terms of the normal Zelda things. Also the stylus control was "well done" in that it worked, but just using an analog stick still would have been better.

Re: Watch: Is Five Years Between Splatoon Games Too Short A Wait?

karlhendrikse

5 years is definitely not too short, but for some reason for Splatoon specifically it feels too short. I think the problem is because Splatoon 2 was released 10 minutes after Splatoon and nobody has gotten over it yet. Splatoon 2 really should have been called Splatoon Deluxe. Then we'd all be ready for Spla2n (absolutely disgusting that they threw away that naming opportunity) by now.

Remember when Majora's Mask came out 2 years after Ocarina of Time and The Wind Waker came out 2 years after that and everyone thought that was fine? Good times. If they had that cadence now we'd currently be waiting for Breath of the Wild 4.

Re: Nintendo Files Trademark Application For 'NSW'

karlhendrikse

Commonly? I have never seen "NSW" used for anything except New South Wales. I think I've seen "NS" a couple of times, but by far the most common abbreviation of "Nintendo Switch" is "Switch", and that's short enough generally nobody needs to go further than that.

Re: Poll: So, Do You Think Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Will Actually Release In 2022?

karlhendrikse

I bought a Wii U in late 2014 hoping for BotW in a few months - turned out to be an extra two years. I think the equivalent of that this time would be buying a Switch in late 2021 so I predict a March 2024 release. Very approximately they've shown now about as much as they had shown of BotW in 2014 so it matches up. Seems entirely possible to me that it will be a cross-gen release.

Re: You'll Really, Really Want To Ensure Your Pokémon Diamond/Pearl Remakes Are Updated At Launch

karlhendrikse

Yeah this is fine. Physical editions exist to provide a cheaper way to get games (discounts, imports, second hand), to allow sharing/borrowing of copies, and so that there's something physical to collect on a shelf. This doesn't change any of those things. I'd be fine with the physical edition containing no actual data at all except a licence key. If you're worried about what happens when the update servers are shut down, just pirate the game after that point, no big deal.
