5 years is definitely not too short, but for some reason for Splatoon specifically it feels too short. I think the problem is because Splatoon 2 was released 10 minutes after Splatoon and nobody has gotten over it yet. Splatoon 2 really should have been called Splatoon Deluxe. Then we'd all be ready for Spla2n (absolutely disgusting that they threw away that naming opportunity) by now.
Remember when Majora's Mask came out 2 years after Ocarina of Time and The Wind Waker came out 2 years after that and everyone thought that was fine? Good times. If they had that cadence now we'd currently be waiting for Breath of the Wild 4.
Commonly? I have never seen "NSW" used for anything except New South Wales. I think I've seen "NS" a couple of times, but by far the most common abbreviation of "Nintendo Switch" is "Switch", and that's short enough generally nobody needs to go further than that.
I've told myself it's OK to buy a Ubisoft game if it's Sparks of Hope. But absolutely any whiff of microtransactions, NFTs, or anything else *****-flavored and I'm out... please don't let me down because the game looks cool!
Extraordinary?! I been waiting 5 years for Mario and Zelda, 23 years for another proper 3D Donkey Kong, 8 years for Mario Kart 9, 20 something years for Pokemon 2, who knows how long for Metroid Prime, where's F-Zero... I mean yeah I guess it is extraordinary.
My dream is something more powerful than PS5/XSX (it will have been over two years; those consoles are obsolete now so anything new has to be significantly beefier) and not portable. I don't go to rooftop parties, and I just can't understand how anyone else does.
I know I'll be dreaming forever. But that's the way it is being a Nintendo fan.
I bought a Wii U in late 2014 hoping for BotW in a few months - turned out to be an extra two years. I think the equivalent of that this time would be buying a Switch in late 2021 so I predict a March 2024 release. Very approximately they've shown now about as much as they had shown of BotW in 2014 so it matches up. Seems entirely possible to me that it will be a cross-gen release.
Super Metroid, Forza Horizon 5, and hopefully I can pull myself away from those to get Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Psychonauts off the backburner.
Yeah this is fine. Physical editions exist to provide a cheaper way to get games (discounts, imports, second hand), to allow sharing/borrowing of copies, and so that there's something physical to collect on a shelf. This doesn't change any of those things. I'd be fine with the physical edition containing no actual data at all except a licence key. If you're worried about what happens when the update servers are shut down, just pirate the game after that point, no big deal.

Re: Poll: Budget Line Box Art - Is It 'Fine', Or A Sin Against All That Is Good And Pure?
Yeah it's bad. Similar to why I also buy consoles early in a generation because I don't want some godawful "slim" version.
Like the PS5 is ugly, but it's ugly with conviction, and I can respect that.
Re: Talking Point: Now That Zelda: BOTW 2 Is Off The Table, Should Holiday 2022 Belong To Mario?
With Odyssey we finally got what I would consider a true Super Mario 128... but yeah I really want Donkey Kong 128.

Re: Video Game History Foundation Calls Out Nintendo's "Destructive" 3DS & Wii U eShop Closure
@blindsquarel If the old games don't mean anything to you, that's all the more reason they need to be preserved.
Re: Talking Point: Triangle Strategy Is A Bad Name, Which Hopefully Won't Matter
I love it! I hope the next one is called something like Quartet Teamwork or Rhombus Configuration or Circular Journey or Tetra Purpose.
