Re: First BIT.TRIP FLUX Screenshots

invmat

Grumble........
Screenshots of MEGA, SUPER, ULTRA, EXTRA and the new mode. No screenshots of GIGA-mode, meaning we don't know the name of the new mode yet...

Anyway, I expected this somehow, the music was similar to the first level of Bit.Trip Beat. The planet on the lower-left in the teaser-image also looked like the planet in Bit Trip Beat. And now the lay-out of the screen looks like Bit.Trip Beat.

@10: Yes, I was thinking the same! Besides that, each game has an icon:
Bit Trip ...
Beat: Orange Line
Core: Red +
Void: Black dot
Runner: CM running
Fate: CM with red eyes
Flux: The same line as beat, but White (inverted?).
This and the planet you see in Beat with an inverted color scheme... Has Flux something to do with inverted things?

Re: WiiWare Demos Launch This Week with Four New Downloads

@16: WHAT? Is Bit.Trip Fate pushed back for at least 2 weeks? No way . Although I am happy that we have WiiWare demos back, I'm disappointed that I have to wait longer before I can play Bit.Trip Fate. I don't know if I can refrain from looking at the spoilers in the Bit.Trip Fate topic any longer...

@worrybomb: That loading screen is very rare! There are 6 different loading screens and that one is ultra rare. I downloaded games about 100 times (including re-downloads) and I only got it once.

Re: Broken Rules Feels Let Down by Nintendo's Online Strategy

Here in Europe, Club Nintendo gave you stars each day you logged in, but they stopped with that. Why don't they do something similar with the Wii Shop? Each week you open the Wii Shop Channel and watch what is new, you get 20 stars or so. It could at least stimulate to look at the shop more often...

And yes, the Wii Shop was doomed but it couldn't be updated completely that easily so there isn't much that can be changed. Lets hope Ninty does everything right from the start with the 3DS.

Re: 3DS to Boot Games Straight from SD and More Informative Nuggets

invmat

One question about the SD-card feature: Is it this time really possible to play games straight from the SD-card? I mean, what the Wii did wasn´t playing them straight from the SD card, it was actually copying/starting up from the SD card.

About automatic updates: In the past, on Wii, there have been 2 firmware updates which could make the Wii unplayable. If that happens this time with automatic firmware updates, the damage will be incredible, because more people will download it immediately. That's also why I don't install a Nintendo-update the first day it's out. If I'm not hearing any complaints after a week or so, then I know it is safe to update. I want to wait and let other people try it first. However, I think Nintendo will try and push you to turn automatic updates on, but they will probably still include the option to manually update. In order for automatic updates to work you also need to be long enough in the SpotPass zone. When you´re walking, you aren´t very long at the same place. However, firmware updates take a while to download (3 minutes or so).

One last thing about SpotPass: Hackers can turn it off if they want, and if Nintendo's online service is the same as it was on Wii and DSi, there isn't very much reason to turn it on anyway.

Anyway, I think that giving firmware updates via StreetPass isn't going to happen at all, that would be very dangerous.

Re: Rumour: 3DS Tech Specs Revealed

If this is true, 1,5 GB flash memory is a strange amount... I guess it is actually 2GB, but the system menu will take up 0,5 GB. However, it will become too little anyway, so an SD card seems to be the only storage solution again...

Re: Serious Metroid: Other M Bug Requires Total Restart

invmat

@Golgo: Have you read my post? (44). Wii Sports Resort was an exceptional case because the system software can load 2 parts from the disc:
1. The video
2. The game
Because Nintendo made a mistake, the system software would sometimes load the video while it should load the game. The System Software decides that, so it could be patched. In Other M, the system software decides almost nothing in the game. It is too late for Nintendo to change anything.
I hope they make better system software on the 3DS... Otherwise, games can´t be updated/patched again for the next 5 years...

Re: Serious Metroid: Other M Bug Requires Total Restart

invmat

Some here are saying a firmware update would help, but I´m 99,9% sure that a system software update can´t change anything. However, I heard copying your save file to another save file slot could help...

@childofacid: There is something special about the Wii Sports Resort disc. The part that has the Wii Motion + video is on a different part of the disc than the actual game. You can see this by looking at the Wii Remote when you go from the Wii Motion + video to the actual game. You can see that the Blue lamp will go off. This special part with the video had a lay-out that looked a bit like the system menu, and actually loaded some files of the Wii´s firmware. Therefore, a firmware update was able to fix that. However, this is not the case in Metroid Other M.

Re: Review: WarioWare: D.I.Y. (DS)

@irken004: I'm also planning to get the WiiWare game and not the DS version. As soon as it is out, I will exchange FC's so I can import some microgames.

My little brother wanted to get this, and now I see the review. I'll give him permission to download this . Although I still don't know if the DLC is worth it...

Re: WiiWare Demo Service Now Available!

invmat

@Machu: The SD-card menu is almost no solution. In this way you keep copying/erasing/moving games and that's not great for your Wii's memory (to say the least). And the block sizes are almost 2/3 of the complete game, and for 1 level that's strange, imo.
