Re: Popular YouTube Channel 'Did You Know Gaming' Receives Copyright Strike For Heroes Of Hyrule Video

@Jim_Wakelin I'm sorry but I really don't think it's relevant to compare what's happening to this excellent Youtube channel with the esports drama on Smash.

Did You know Gaming simply does journalistic work, information videos, which are of general interest. What is happening to them is therefore a scandal that deserves our indignation towards Nintendo.

We are not going to compare an unacceptable attack on the press with the fact that people do not have the right to appropriate intellectual property to make money by organizing competitions.

@Tharsman Please don't take this as sarcasm, but what kind of statements do you want exactly?

They have to make a communication to apologize for having chosen another actress? This story is absolutely insane.

The majority of people in the world who might be interested in this game don't care about this controversy, which borders on pure and simple ethocentrism. The development team and their work? We don't care, they are Japanese, what matters is our precious English dubbing.

@Nanoline52 it's quite extraordinary to want to adopt a moral posture while seeming totally disconnected from reality. We all love video games, we wouldn't be here otherwise, but we still have to try to keep things in perspective.

4000 dollars for 16 hours of work, it's not the salary of a teacher, it's not the salary of a nurse, it's not the salary of a garbage collector or a firefighter. When we give lessons in decency to others, we should perhaps start by establishing our own priorities as citizens.

A lot of things suck in this industry, the crunch is unacceptable, harassment is unacceptable, preventing workers from unionizing is unacceptable.

To offer 4000 dollars for 16 hours of work, and to respect the legal clauses in force is absolutely not unacceptable. Just because this topic has become a drama on Twitter doesn't necessarily mean it's legitimate.

The only important thing, much more than Bayonetta or Nintendo for that matter, seems to be the distress in which this actress finds herself. It doesn't mean it's anyone's fault but it's something that really saddens me and I hope things will work out for her in the end.

Other than that, lecturing everyone while finding it normal to undermine the work of hundreds of people seems pretty ridiculous to me.
