Re: Lego Indy 2: The Adventure Continues

edofthe209

I enjoyed Lego Batman and LOVED Lego Star Wars, The Lego Indy was kinda weak IMO. Ending up as the girl in the 2nd movie was just boring as all holy hell. The idea of a level creator is kinda cool, so I might have to check this out. Honestly, it's Lego Harry Potter that has my interest at this point. Magic should play just like the force, so it should be a good possiblility that it could be as good as Lego SW.

Okay, this a a question only a dumb yank would ask, but... Is it true that the pitcher (I think bowler in cricket) is allowed to hit the guy holding the bat with the ball? I mean, that gives up a base for baseball, but as I'm clueless on Cricket(other than knowing a cricket bat is fantastic as a zombie killing device) I just was wondering. Seems like a cool sport though.

I did have this one for a while. It was a pretty fun mix of a semirealistic combat flight sim and the SEGA classic Afterburner. What really sold me was the controls. You have a choice of a pointerbased arcade style that was super fluid and easy to use, or a quite realistic but difficult to use set up. I tried the realistic one first, as that's why I wanted to get the game, but I literally couldn't make it past the first level using it. It was very fluid, but very much made you feel like you were a pilot. I'm just no pilot.

After switching to the arcade set up I started breezing around and having a blast. Most enemies are killed from a long way off with missle shots. The impact cam brings these kills close to home and makes for a pretty visceral experiance.

The downside is that's about it. Target fire kill, see impact cam of kill and repeat. It would be a great rent but it was a very short game life for a buy.

Re: Review: Battalion Wars 2 (Wii)

The game is good for what it is. It is fun to have a combo 3rd person shooter mixed with an RTS. It's a jack of 2 trades, though a master of neither. It's really hard to feel very tactical when all you can really do is a glorified bum rush through the level. I haven't made it all the way through yet, but so far everything has be superlinier. The thing is though, what is there is fun. Well, I hated the helicopter parts, but the rest is really fun, just about as deep tactically as a baby pool.

Re: Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles

As a fan of on rails shooters I'd love to get this and UC. The only thing stopping me is my love of horror survival games. I really want to play the originals themselves before having the best twists turns and scares shown to me in an action heavy format.

Re: Resident Evil

Picked this up on sunday. I played the original on the PSX back in the day and had a blast. I somehow ended up skipping all the sequels until the Wii edition of 4 and the 360 version of 5. I have to say, going back to the tank controls and funky camera angles was a hell of a jolt and it's taking some time to get used to it. I suggest the sideways Wiimote control scheme as the D pad works better than the stick. I was also bummed that it doesn't fill my widescreen TV, but as it's a port I guess it was expected. Still, the game is a beauty to behold(the prerendered graphics look amazingly lifelike) and it really is scary. Far scarier than the new action heavy versions. As long as you want a good horror adventure game, this is a great buy in my opinion. Especially if you missed this on the gamecube, like me.

Re: Review: Art Style: KUBOS (DSiWare)

I wish this was doing Wii Ware as well. I dig the Art Style games, I just hate missing out for not having a DSi. I do not dig this Ubisoft bar chasing me down the page. it's freaking me out, man!

Re: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Yay First!
I saw the demo on G4 and it looks pretty darn cool. My onlu concern was with some serious clipping issues with the creepy monsters dissappearing into Harry and also random items getting left half in a wall. if they get that cleaned up this really will be shaping up to be what could be the best Horror survival on the Wii. I'm loving the psycological concept of things and and am really intruiged by the new frigid "other world"

Re: The Conduit

edofthe209

I know I'll wait for a good honest review before getting it, but I want so badly for this game to succeed. It claims to have every component to make a great FPS, especially on the Wii. I personally believe that when done right, a Wii FPS is equal to a PC setup in terms of control and realism. Listen HVS, you better not just be a hype machine, or your next to IPs will wither and die on the vine. This is where you can prove yourselves and earn the trust and faith of gamers worldwide. Please do not dissapoint.

Wow, I type that as if those developers actually read these boards. Honestly, though, if this does rock and prove that the Wii can have a hell of a killer app in this genre, then I might just sell my 360 to focus only on my Wii.

Re: The Grinder Is High Voltage's Second New IP

edofthe209

Wow, Way to go HVS! I sincerely hope that with 3 tentpole IPs they can make them all quality games. I want each and every one of these games, the two recent ones even more than Conduit, and I want them all to ROCK. HVS is promising big and I really want them to deliver. i want proof outthere taht the wii can really rock with the bigboys.

Re: Battalion Wars 2

I do really like this game. It makes for the cutest little war you ever did see. It makes me wish more strategy games were coming out for the Wii.

Re: Samurai Warriors: KATANA

edofthe209

I am not going to lie, this game has it's issues. Excessively repetitive enemies, non existent enemy AI, bland colors overall, and an inability to skip exposition that you have been forced to see 250 times. What it has going for it, though, is pure fun factor. If you like the light gun genre, then this game is really a fantastic addition to the library. The combination of melee, charge, and ranged attacks is quite satisfying, and all of the bosses are like playing a devastating round in punch out. Another plus, is this game has gone down in price so it should be worth checking out.

Re: High Voltage Unveils Gladiator A.D.

edofthe209

Stoked!!! Back when the Wii first came out I was dreaming of an intuitive gladitorial combat game. I think I've tried just about every gladiator type game out there and, as fun as some may have been, have been lacking in really being immersive. I am really looking forward to what comes out of this, especially from High Voltage.

Re: Ju-on: The Grudge Officially Coming Stateside

edofthe209

It's possible this could rock. OR, like the American version of the movie, it could blow huge hippo sized chunks. I dig horror games, so I'd like to check it out. I've been startled by jump scares on rare occasions in games, and I'm usually impressed if a game can pull it off. In fact, I haven't seen that done well since waaaay back in the day of Res Evil 1.

Re: Ghostbusters Wii to feature exclusive co-op play

edofthe209

I'm liking the fact that as a Ghostbusters game, there is no movie coming out soon it's not being rushed. I'm really liking the look of the splitscreen co op. I was afraid it would be "Yoda Mode" like Call of Duty: WAW, which, though fun, is just a wee bt lacking.
