This was a fun, unique game that I haven't played since I finished it years ago. My kid (when little) was always interested in watching me play it, and now that he's gotten older and good at games, this seems like a no-brainer to pay $4.99 for the upgrade and play through it together again. Maybe this time I'll just watch him play.
I had a ton of fun with this game. Would definitely love if they went the upgrade/discount route for those of us who have it. But I'd probably be willing to double-dip if they did a physical release.
The demo was fun and 20 bucks seems reasonable, but I'm not in a hurry to buy it. Could be an in-the-moment purchase down the road when I'm looking for something different to play.
Edit: if I hadn't played the demo I probably wouldn't be interested at all, so keep the demos coming, Nintendo!
@romanista I've been playing Super Mega Baseball 4 on Switch 2 and it's noticeably better. Faster load times, you can favor quality over performance without sacrificing performance, and it just looks and feels better all around. Both docked and handheld.
And the one time it crashed on me, I didn't lose any progress.
I was playing this when Tears of the Kingdom came out and then I never went back. Getting a Switch 2 was a good excuse to try it out again. I only gave it a few minutes of wandering around on the last planet I'd landed on, but it felt and looked amazing. Looking forward to diving back in. Along with Mario Kart World, this is basically my Switch 2 launch game.
@jake1421 I've put hundreds of hours into the Super Mega Baseball games on Switch. No MLB license, but a great blend of arcade and sim with lots of customization options. SMB4 added a couple hundred retired MLB players into the game, which is a fun bonus on top of an already top-notch experience.
Gotta go back to this one. I played it in the months before Tears of the Kingdom came out and then never went back once Zelda took over my gaming time. It was cool back then, and it looks like it's only gotten better. (and bigger!)
I still have some older games to play, but Animal Well and Balatro have taken up most of my time this year as far as new stuff goes. My next two 2024 titles will likely be Pepper Grinder and Llamasoft (which has a modest 10% discount right now!)
I actually did it as a kid in like 1988. I think they told you how to do it in the old Nintendo Fun Club magazine. I was even able to repeat it once or twice to show friends. I seem to recall convincing myself that there was something beyond the minus world if you did it enough times.
I tried it out and did not enjoy it. The muted visuals and the gameplay just did not engage me, even though I was hopeful to have a good MLB-licensed game on Switch. Looks like I'll be sticking with Super Mega Baseball 3, which is fine because even absent the MLB license, it's the perfect blend of arcade and sim for me and I've even grown fond of the made-up teams and players.

Any time Mackenzie isn't on the screen, Samus should be asking, "Where's Mackenzie?"

@romanista That's awesome. Hope you have as much fun with it as I do! Building a team through Shuffle Draft has been a blast.
