Why release a Pro this year when they almost certainly could just wait until the next Holiday season and make a Switch 2? The system has already been out for over 4 years and will be pushing 6 next November. I don’t think it’s that hard to believe that we’ll just see a new system that can almost keep up with the current Gen instead of a upgraded system that doesn’t logically make sense to release when their two current models are still the top sellers
@darkswabber I had the PC, PS1, and GBC copies of Chamber of Secrets and they were all solid. I remember renting the PS2 version and it just....wasn’t as good for whatever reason. The GBC one might have been my favorite though, especially going to Nearly Headless Nick’s party.
I mean, Build A Bear almost never releases more than a couple at a time unless it’s tied to a specific release. The Pokémon collection started with just Pikachu and they’ve added a new one every couple months or so since then and at this point have had stuff like Snubbull and Dragonite. I don’t expect this to be any different
@TheNewButler The funny thing is, Zelda was never a huge seller until BotW. One of the most influential and legendary game series, but not a massive hit like Mario. The Switch (And 3DS to a lesser extent) has really propelled a ton of series to become massive sellers. Though I think of a lot of that can be pointed to many of these games in these series being some of their best.
@ukaskew In America there’s a decent amount of Mario toys. Plushes and action figures can be found in most Targets. You can also find action figures (which are Nintendo, not just Mario but 2/3 of them are Mario characters), interlocking level sets that come with enemies and characters, and Mario Kart RC karts and tracks. They used to be a lot more common back when Toys R Us was open since they had an entire aisle of Nintendo toys which was separate from their Pokémon section.
To everyone commenting on how there hasn’t been a good Harvest Moon or hoping for this o e to be good-it won’t and they haven’t because “Harvest Moon” isn’t real Harvest Moon. They’re cash grabs made by the company that owns the name Harvest Moon, but not the actual game. The actual Harvest Moon games are Story of Seasons made by the original creators and branded the same in Japan as their original title.
@Heavyarms55 Well Disney Interactive went under and I’m sure Nintendo is a better opportunity than Gearbox. If he was getting fired then it would be a different story
@Paraka I don’t think it’s just nostalgia though, but also just the general love of Nintendo characters.
It’s ironic because most Nintendo characters are silent protagonists and even villains, but Nintendo games tend to inject so much life and character into their characters. Mario and Link haven’t really said much of anything in their history (not counting cartons and movies), but you can still figure out what their personalities are due to the way they design their games.
Compare this to other studios and the same can’t be said, or at least the personalities aren’t distinct. PlayStation tried it with All-Stars, but a good amount of those characters have no personality or bland personalities, which is a result of most “realistic” games, which is what other companies mostly put out. Hell, looking at Smash, the least interesting characters are often third party or Fire Emblem. What elevates them is getting drop kicked by Bowser and hooked with a fishing rod by Isabelle.
I’m half expecting a portable only “mini” console. It’ll be slightly smaller. The height will be the same, but the length will be shorter with the face buttons on the front where the screen isn’t. The portable only aspect will make the console weaker in specs because it won’t have to achieve the docked level powers. This will also allow for a much better battery life.
@westman98 I dont think they should bring their other sports games to the Switch. At least not until they see if it's wprth it. I do think they should bring Madden over asap though. There are also definitely great games they could bring over that would make sense that aren't Battlefront, Battlefield, or Mass Effect. Need for Speed being one of them as I assume the series has done typically well considering it releasing on Nintendo consoles until the Wii U
Everything is fairly priced imo, EXCEPT the dock. The Pro Controller is only $10 more than the competition and is crammed with more tech. The Joy-cons are technically two controllers, so at $40 a piece, that isn't terrible. Definitely makes it harder to purchase a set, but in the long run it's not that bad. The charging grip is a bit much, but honestly there's little need for it unless you forget to charge. Even if you want extra sets, you'd be better off getting the dock that charges two sets of joy cons. As for the box, I wish every game did, as I wish I owned the box for Mario Kart and Zelda, but I'll survive.
The only series they should both bringing to the system are their Star Wars games, Sims, Madden, and maybe Need for Speed. Literally anything else is a waste as it won't sell. I was thinking Mass Effect or Dragon Age, but it probably wouldn't be worth trying to make them work for the amount of money they would make.
The Star Wars games will also be hard to get to work on the Switch, but I'm sure they'll be worth it. I'd assume there's a good amount of overlap between Nintendo and Star Wars fans, especially ones that want to play Battlefront and the like on the go.

Re: Random: The Switch Joy-Con Can Be Used As A Remote Shutter For Mobile Devices
I wonder if this would work with the Pokeball controller as that makes more sense to have with you to use since it doubles for Go
