Re: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

@sephiroth79 - here are some more:

-Banjo-Kazooie - Rare's finest platforming work at the time

-Banjo-Tooie - a hillarious sequel

-Donkey Kong 64 - good times, the most recent full 3D DK platformer out there.

But I know this will only be a dream. It's too bad Rare has gone to microsoft...

Re: Super Mario 64

@couthedman92--well said. SM64 is my favorite of all time, even though after 12 years it is aged and bored. Tell your friend bladeso'steel99baby that he could consider....uh...maybe avoiding the "brown bastards".

Re: Paper Mario

calc_nerd

Fine, but I'm still waiting for the vc release of the Mario RPG that started it all....(japan people please don't comment)

Re: TV Show King

calc_nerd

I don't want to waist my money on a game where you pretty much take a test. I do enough of that in school.

Re: Balloon Fight

calc_nerd

A great game for on the go, but it does not live up to the standards of quality nes. I had it on e-reader, and enjoyed it for time to time.

Re: Kirby's Adventure

calc_nerd

Excellent game!!!! I was never a Kirby fan until previewed this game in Brawl and decided to give this game a download. Being one of the last games to come out on the NES, it was well advanced for the system.

Re: F-Zero X

calc_nerd

All the F-Zero games were equally good for their time. Choosing between the four just depends on which system you like the best.

Re: Star Fox 64

calc_nerd

Good game to play through once in a while. I wish it had a save feature though, so you don't always have to beat it under one sitting.

Re: Wario's Woods

calc_nerd

Great game, played it on animal crossing. Good way to put an end to the nine year span of the NES

Re: Mario Kart 64

calc_nerd

Mario Kart 64 was my first N64 game. It was a long time before I got my second N64 game, because there was no need. The level designs and exciting racing action satisfied my video game needs for that time. Looking back, it is the best mario kart game of the series, because it kept it plain simple. It was not like the other games with fifty karts for each character where you had to choose between a 98.65% acceleration rating, 56.7877% chance of getting a good item, 67% weight rating. You didn't have to worry about how many coins you have so you don't spin out every time a little thing hits you. It was just choose a character, a track, then race!

Re: Adventures of Lolo 2

calc_nerd

Yay, more Lolo puzzles. Will they ever release Lolo 3? That one had an overworld to explore in addition to the classic puzzle action.

Re: Ice Climber

calc_nerd

Ice Climber was a fun game while it lasted...too bad we only saw Nana and Popo again in the Super Smash Bros. series

Re: Donkey Kong

calc_nerd

Excellent game for the arcades, but it won't fulful your platforming needs, especially when it had been rereleased about ten times in the last few years. If you want quality DK arcade action, get you hands on the Game Boy version - Donkey Kong 94, as has the four original levels plus 96 more similar puzzle-solving levels in nine different worlds. Also try the Mario vs. DK series for games of similar style.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

calc_nerd

Between 1994 and 1997, two games were simultaneously in development: Mario 64 and Zelda: Ocarina of Time. We had to wait another year for OoT after Mario 64 was out, but it was worth it. Superior gameplay and graphics, and a well-delivered "wow" after turning the system off from the game credits. I recommend the sequel as it does continue the exploration and dungeon challenges that OoT was filled with, but give caution, because dungeons were only a fraction of the tasks to complete in the game..

Re: Super Mario Bros. 3

calc_nerd

Great mario game, no questions asked. It was advanced for its time and system with the world map, mini games, and multiple power-ups. I just feel bad for those who made it all the way to the last world without warping, then lost your last life. Bringing this game and the other marios to VC shows what games were like back in the NES days, when "game over" really ment "game over"!

Re: Super Mario Bros. 2

calc_nerd

I still can't understand how Nintendo came up with SMB2--real name Doki Doki Panic, but I enjoy the classic action at times when I am bored of other games. I wonder why we didn't see any other mario games of this type?

Re: Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels

calc_nerd

I played this game on the GBC and enjoyed it to some extent, but couldn't take the constant fustration that it was filled with finish the game 100%. It gives a challenge to those who thought SMB1 was easy. And if you thought both games were easy, try worlds 9, A, B, C, and D.

Re: Yoshi's Story

calc_nerd

Nothing better than a 2-D side-scrolling game with your old pal Yoshi! This game had a good storyline and idea, but I agree that it wasn't the best. I think that if it were more like its SNES predecessor, it could have been better, but the classic melon-eating and cute yoshi sounds were enjoyable while they lasted.

Re: Super Mario 64

calc_nerd

Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, Ocarina of Time, DK 64-- all best games on N64!! You can't go wrong with a classic 3-D adventure starring a well-known character. I must have beaten both versions about 15 times, and still enjoy another run-through from time to time. The DS version had more courses, more stars, more characters, and better graphics, but I still like the original version better. It is the only game that receives the credit for successfully revolutionising the Mario series, and set the standards of a quality 3-D video game.
