Re: Feature: A Pokémon Retrospective: Generation 6 - 2013 to ????

Zibene999

Definitely the worst generation for the main games, IMO. It saw the high standard Gen 5 set for it and chose to slide right under it.
The Pokemon were mostly bland, with a few exceptions. Espur is great, but a keyring? A sword? Haha, and people said Gen 5 had silly designs! What a laugh. Where are the people who said Trubbish was a lame design now? Going to defend a keyring? Hypocrites.. Anyway.

The story was lackluster and empty, especially compared to Gen 5, the characters were pretty one-dimensional as well, which was trust irreparably broken. Who didn't figure out who the head bad guy was during the very first encounter? And his reasons? Wow, okay. That's it? Though to be fair Ghetsis and Cyrus and all the others had pretty lame reasons too. The only thing I remotely liked was the idea of the Pokemon war, which I guess was an okay idea, too bad it felt more like an excuse than a premise.

The game content past the mansion/castle (I can't remember) was boring, hard to get into and threadbare. The whole region felt a little barren, to be honest, and there was little incentive to explore.

The anime is about the same as ever, I guess. I have no idea what an Ash-Greninja is. Greninja is such a dumb Pokemon just made to cater to the average new player anyway so it's whatever. Not to mention it's a Ninja Frog, what's not to hate there? Disgusting. It doesn't even have a funk-factor like Jiraiya.

I haven't bothered with the remakes at all, I know absolutely nothing about them, and I hope it stays that way. I'll gladly play my old Sapphire cart if I want Gen III, thank you but no thank you!

I will say a couple of positive things about this generation, however! Pokken Tournament looks like a lot of fun, and Pokemon Picross is quite enjoyable.

But that's all. Goodbye Gen 6, and good riddance.

Re: Here's Exactly What Has Changed With Fire Emblem Fates' "Skinship" Petting Mode

@FierceRagnar @Mogster

Uhh, I've played almost all of the Fire Emblem games, and though it hasn't been in most of them, marriage and children are definitely not new to the series. My personal favorite, 4, has a very basic children/inheritance system that I'd gladly take over the new stuff.

Other than that though, it's had a bunch of other, much worse content throughout the series. Why are marriage and children so bad compared to genocide, incest and murder? You know, the "traditional Fire Emblem" experience. Well, whatever. I don't get it, honestly, hahah. I don't mean to come off as rude, either, but you sound really silly to me when you look at it objectively.

On the article: I like the change, despite my issues with it, because the original system just creeped me out. I might buy this game after all.

All right, I did assume you were one of the people saying that, my bad.
Thank you for clarifying.

However, my comment still applies. A lot of people are doing what I said, and in my opinion it's harmful to the future of art in video games.

The entire scenario itself was just plain awkward, weird, and not very clear in the way they were trying to display Kamui. Good intentions or not. I do think it's a good thing they removed it on those points.

But I'll stick with my stance: Censorship should only be applied to questionably legal activities and beyond. The rest is harmful.

You say art has no boundaries, and then go on to accept art being bounded by boundaries through censorship by saying 'Oh, well it's still in the game in Japan.' That's illogical.

There are a lot of hypocrites here (no offense to anyone in particular) who pick and choose what they want censored based on their feelings. It's really disappointing because of the impact on the gaming industry as a whole.

While I personally agree that the spiking of the drink and situation that followed was wrong on many levels, the principle of being for or against censorship is the issue here for me. I disagree with censoring any game, regardless of content, and yes I mean that fully and in every contextual sense, as,like many have written, art has no boundaries, regardless of if it offends someone or not.

Is censorship bad or good? Decide. Don't flip-flop.

My vote is definitely for Zero Time Dilemma! Our dreams are here!
Ever since the first DS game.. it's finally going to be all over. I can't believe it.
Definitely picking it up as soon as it comes out.

Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem also look amazing, though. HW works better as a portable experience than a console one in my opinion.

@Drezus
It doesn't, it takes place before it in the in-series timeline, however some of the characters may or may not be from the future.
