Nintendo is about to launch a new system but the Wii U feels more like an enhanced version of the Wii. Where was the triple A title to get people excited? They should of shown Project P-100 and updated the status of Dragon Quest 10 instead of spending so much time on one mini game in Nintendo Land. Virtual Console was not even discussed and Xbox 360 and PS3 ports had no major graphic or gameplay improvements. This was such a big mess that Nintendo's stocks dropped. Stop playing safe and come out swinging.
Last Blade is awesome news! I heard many hardcore fight fans say Last Blade is better than Samurai Shodown. Any new Wii VC game is great news in my book.
I have no interest buying multiple retail episodes or download content to complete a Zelda game. I would not mind shorter games but never continue the story into the next quest.
I disregarded the launch because I thought the Wii was a horrible name, the motion controls seemed like a gimmick and the graphics were not very good. However, I fell in love with the white box after playing Wii Sports at my aunt & uncle cottage. Then I found out about the Virtual Console and knew I must have this system.
I hate when physical copies go out of print and then the prices skyrocket. An example is the limited run of Metroid Prime Trilogy. Digital would allow everyone to play the games they want at a reasonable price. If Nintendo allows digital copies playable on more then one system and keeps the prices down, then they have succeed
MDK2 on the Dreamcast is hard but really fun. Developers are taking a huge financial risk making games for WiiWare because of the restrictions. I wonder Nintendo has a similar policy for the Virtual Console?
Keep contacting NOA, Minoru Arakawa and checking store inventory records. The mystery will be solved someday. Personally, I believe Nintendo shipped the game to retailers on October 18th, 1985. When these stores acutally sold the product is a big ?
I blew a whole weeks paycheck playing Sega's Brave FireFighters at Chuck E. Cheese a few years ago. The pizza taste horrible but the arcade games are worth the visit. If this DSiWare game allowed collecting virtual tickets for buying prizes at a real Chuck E. Cheese, then UFO could have a hit.
Nintendo has a better track record then Sega, so mentioning the Wii U will end up like the Dreamcast is nonsense. The Dreamcast had amazing games and the price was dirt cheap, but a lot of gamers had ill feelings towards Sega from the previous lack of support of the 32X, Sega CD and Saturn. As post #23 said, Nintendo is a much stronger company then Sega was in the 90's.
What a great article. I remember Time listing the Virtual Boy as one of the worst inventions ever made by humans. That might have been a little harsh since we have been around for 50,000 years, but I agree that this was a horribly designed product. Nintendo could have spend millions marketing the Virtual Boy and it would have still failed. Taking this piece of junk back behind the barn for a mercy killing was one of the best financial decisions Nintendo has ever made.
Nightmare Busters was made in 1995 but was never officially released on the SNES. In 2004 the game was renamed Flynn's Advenures for mobile phones by publisher In-Fusio. GameSpot gave it a 7.3. I would like to know if Super Fighter Team is adding any new content or is this a direct port?
The cost of making these next gen games is going to skyrocket, forcing a few companies into extinction. I used to care about pretty graphics but many of my favorite developers/publishers faded into dust because of the financial demands of new technology.
A retro game store near my town is selling brand new Super Nintendo consoles for $600. Used systems are around $25-50. If you never owned a SNES, whats the point in buying the hardware when the Retrode is available. I think many people will make a copy of the ROM using the Retrode and then allow others to download the ROM from the internet without them actually owning the cartridge. I would assume Nintendo would think this device is illegal.
Skies of Arcadia on the Dreamcast is one of my all time favorite games. If the GameCube port plays like the original, then that would be my #1.
All the Wii Top Ten titles would not make my list. I would have included Beatles: Rock Band, Guilty Gear XX ACP (w/ classic controller), House of the Dead: Overkill, Mad World, Muramasa, No More Heroes 2, Punch Out, Resident Evil: UC, Super Paper Mario, Zack & Wiki
My all time favorite would be Gunstar Super Heroes. Final Fight One, Lunar Legend, Metal Slug Advance, and King of Fighters EX2 round out the top five.
This is the year for RPGs: Dragon Quest X, Xenoblade, Last Story, Earth Seeker, Pandora's Tower, Skyward Sword and Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary. I hope all these get a Western release, along with Fatal Frame 4.
