If it has a strong sense of place, gameplay being familiar isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Even if something has been done many times, if it is done well, it can still be brilliant.
Man, I need some friends who play games to try gamechat out! Silksong was really an incredible experience. But I decided to stop after beating act 2. I’m not going to say anything else to not spoil anything, but for me I think that was the right call. I 100% Hollow Knight, and did and saw everything in that world including the DLC, so I know I’d have been able to beat act 3 of Silksong if I wanted to, but there were some aspects about it (not the difficulty) that made me decide to stop playing at the credits. That left me with an incredible time, and adventure, that I loved deeply.
I wasn’t sure if anyone else found parts of Silksong as funny as I do. Glad I’m not the only one! Even though it killed me when I was desperate for a bench, the bench of doom was also hilarious.
Exactly what I was thinking too! It’s adorable that if you hit the bell above the bellway the transport bug purrs. I forget the name of the animal, but it’s such a cute sound. And he will do little stomps every now and then if you don’t move Hornet.
