It doesn't matter what the philosophy behind the game is or was - people don't really play it that way. Nobody complained about the changes made to the game due to COVID. Even the most gregarious and active players with all the free time in the world benefited. So why roll back? It's less money in Niantic's pockets and it alienates and annoys a ton of your players. Make the game more accessible - not less. Make your company more money - not less. This decision is just stupid all around, and just flat out cruel to those with physical disabilities.
@Jax1988 To each their own. If you like the old mechanics - awesome. I don't, and that's why Arceus was the first mainline(ish?) Pokemon game I've bought since the GB days. Going backwards just means I'm probably not gonna be playing anymore mainline games for a while.
@Fizza There are still around 80-100 million active monthly players, so I don't think it's that weird. It kind of makes sense since the TCG wasn't culturally relevant at all until like the past 2 years, and a deal like this probably took a while to put together and get into the production pipeline.
Legends Arceus is #1-20 for me since it's the only Pokemon game besides PoGo and Snap that I've ever returned to after the first play session. Good things happen when you decide to stop releasing the same game for 2+ decades.
@SuperCharr I've been playing on and off since launch and I've only spent maybe $50 over that 5+ year span. It's really not a cash grab at all compared to other mobile games - especially not when compared to newer Niantic games.
I tried the game and I'm not surprised. It was such a blatant and immediate cash grab. You barely even got time to learn the ropes before the game was poking you to pay up.
Glad the creator got his Kickstarter back, but I never understood the appeal of this book. Amiibo prices fluctuate wildly depending on whether or not they're in print, and new Amiibo are still coming out every year. A premium app would be a much better avenue for something like this.

Re: Some Trainers Are Worried About Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Returning To "Traditional" Catching Mechanics
Old catch mechanics = no buy from me. Too tedious.
Re: A Kirby And The Forgotten Land Demo Is Out Now
Day 1 purchase for me. That demo was so much fun.

"If you've been eager to get your hands on some Super Nintendo World merchandise and happen to be located in America, you're in luck."
I didn't even need to check the author's profile to see that they're not American.
