Re: Backlog Club: Nintendo Life's Games Of Not-This-Year Awards 2022

Setrodox

This year, I played Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Dicey Dungeons, and Luigi's Mansion 3. These were my favorites. I finished Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey (3DS). I continued with Animal Crossing. To round off the list, I played Iconclasts, 3 Picross games, Overcooked! 2, LIMBO, The TakeOver, and Lumines. It will be a long time before I am not playing back-log games.

Re: Mini Review: TENS! - Immediately Accessible Puzzle Action

I downloaded this game from this week's E3 sales. It's incredibly simplistic, way too easy to play, and repetitive. I've already played through the entire game. The puzzles are nearly identical from beginning to end: the changes are the introduction of spaces in the grid that are blocked, spaces randomizers, or spaces which move your pieces around. The music is bland. I played the endless round, and it was so endless that I lost on purpose to wrap it up. The game had even stopped scoring some of my points during the endless round. Competitive mode looks fun, but I don't have anyone to play with. The game has wonderful colors, runs very smoothly, and is really easy to dive into. Once you dive, you find it's way too shallow. It is worth the sales price if this seems like your kind of game, but it's definitely not worth the full price.

Re: Editorial: Losing It All - When a Wii U's External Hard Drive Dies

I use a a docking station with an HD pulled from an old computer. It formatted fine. The docking station has it's on power button. I turn the docking station on when I want to play something loaded to the external HD. Otherwise, I always leave it off. Also, the station has cloning features, which might be helpful if I get suspicious of having this story happen to me.

Re: Review: Now I know my ABCs (Wii U eShop)

Thank you for this review! I have 3 girls: 5, 2, and 3-months. I had considered if this game was a good fit for my family, but couldn't find any reviews/comments/posts that weren't jokes or complaints (even like much of this list of comments). After reading the review, I feel more comfortable that this game will be a good fit. I'll purchase it and show it to my 5-year-old tomorrow. The other two will grow up fast enough that they may use the game someday, too.

Re: Expect To See More Spin-Off Titles Like Hyrule Warriors In 2015, Says Miyamoto

Setrodox

I get the feeling Miyamoto's quote is being taken out of context. He said "one part of our plan to do so is to use 'spin off games', which allow us to use our major title franchises, but create on a smaller scale and we are working hard on making these sort of derived products."

That does not mean "more spin-off releases like Hyrule Warriors." Maybe or maybe not. Also, spin-off does not equal cross-over. And don't forget the part about "small scale."

Actually, the whole quote makes me think of games like Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. That's a spin-off and small scale.

Re: From the Forum: To Buy or Not to Buy? SPIKEY WALLS Fires Debate as Developer Defends Project

I'm not impressed with any of the contributions to that debate. There are some select ideas I can resonate with, such as I agree that I don't want to see games that I consider junky, but I still can't really fully agree/disagree with either position.

Here's a thought. What if Nintendo could follow Amazon's example with a "Not Interested" option so the buyer can have a little control over individual store fronts. I think that could alleviate both sides of this debate.
