Re: Preview: Rayman Legends

SchamMan89

I'm a huge fan of Rayman Origins, and what I've played of Rayman Legends has blown me away even more. I'm disappointed it was delayed-- it would've been the perfect time to launch back in February-- but I'll be downloading this day one in September.

I was barely interested in this before, but this review has caught my interest. Plus, with the Club Nintendo credit, it'd basically be like paying 20 dollars for the game. Might be worth it.

Re: Talking Point: The Uncertain Collectible Future of Download-Only Game Libraries

SchamMan89

Steam has been around for a while now, and they're great about keeping everything accessible through the service. I can't imagine that NOT continuing.

A big problem is that consoles keep changing their architecture so much that past games don't even work. That's absurd to me. Modern PCs support games from the 90s! There's no reason that, for example, a PS4 won't play PS3 games.

If we get to the point of more widespread hardware compatibility, then I don't see what the problem would be keeping these games on servers. They'd be such a ridiculously small amount of space at that point... why not just keep them around to get the occasional sales?

@JGMR, I have bought nearly all of my games digital in the last year. Does that mean I'm not real?

Re: Molyneux: Nintendo Is "Brilliant" At Attracting Players, But Their Hardware "Gets In The Way"

SchamMan89

Anybody that thinks Nintendo should go third party should look at the Gamecube years. The Gamecube sold pretty poorly-- probably a bit worse than what the Wii U will end up selling. Even still, Nintendo made more profit that console generation than either Sony or Microsoft.

So yeah, in terms of raw numbers and audience, Nintendo would reach more people by developing for other consoles and phones. They'd get enormous short-term profit, but long-term, they'd probably lose a lot of money.

On top of all of that, Nintendo sees themselves as software developers first, then hardware. They like to make hardware to fit the games they want to make. They won't want to give up that ability.

Re: Review: Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS)

SchamMan89

I appreciate the niche this game fills, and it clearly has a dedicated following.

I gave Wild World a shot back in the day, and was fairly bored by the whole thing. Maybe I'll give that game another shot to see if New Leaf is worth buying for me.

Re: Club Nintendo's June Rewards Bring Out More Retro Goodies

@UnseatingKDawg, the 3D F-Zero games are very different from the 2D ones. It's still a difficult series, but the fundamentals are very different, in my opinion.

F-Zero X (and its Gamecube successor) rely on boosting, which uses your health up each time. The courses are very three dimensional, too, with some tracks in the shape of anything from a half-pipe to a corkscrew.

Re: SEGA Still Committed To Wii U Despite Aliens: Colonial Marines Cancellation

SchamMan89

What I want, in this order:
-F-Zero UX (since Amusement Vision isn't around anymore, give it to Sumo Digital)
-Phantasy Star Online 2, which works with the PC and Vita versions.
-A GOOD Super Monkey Ball
-The Genesis Sonics, the Dreamcast Sonics, and Sonic Heroes on VC
-A new Chu Chu Rocket
-Another Sonic Racing game like Transformed (that game is so good!)
-A good 3d Sonic platformer

Re: Review: NightSky (3DS eShop)

SchamMan89

I'm sorry, but I found NightSky incredibly boring when I played through it this summer. The style is cool, but everything quickly starts looking the same. Some of the puzzles are annoying to complete, as well.

The game does have a great physics engine, but I'd personally give it a 8... maybe

Re: Monster Hunter 4 Attacks Japan in Spring 2013

SchamMan89

The possibility of this being an open world makes it tempting, but I'll probably pass, ultimately.
I bought Monster Hunter Tri hoping for a PSO-like experience, which was probably a mistake. While the game certainly has cool aspects, the small levels and brutal difficulty turned me off.
