Re: UK Charts: Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Soars Straight To Number One

@electrolite77 nice to see MH Rise still doing well at least for physical, hoping that game reaches 10m, it should be on around 8m by now, it was on 7m at around May, i know sales have slowed down but I'd imagine it wouldn't be hard for them to be on around 8m by now globally.

I have a bet with my friend you see, i said that the only 3rd party developer capable of making a game on Nintendo hardware that would get 10m sales is Capcom.

He didn't agree, saying that no developer aside from Nintendo themselves are capable of doing it.

So far MH Rise is easily the best selling 3rd party game so far for the Switch, but my bet with him is 10m.

@UltimateOtaku91 yeah evidently i have, I'm not bothered too much, they're probably a couple of children, hormones all bent out of shape. This is a Nintendo fan site after all.

@Lordplops @johnvboy and on that subject, shouldn't you two be in school? Or do teachers allow kids to be on their phones all day at school?

@Lordplops @johnvboy

Are you both okay? Woke up on the wrong side of the bed? I've noticed a lot of Nintendo fans are insecure lately. Whats the matter?

@darkswabber only pointed out that PS5 have games and you two have continously been bashing him for pointing that out.

@Lordplops you in particular sound like a 12 year old kid who needs to get off the computer for a bit.

As far as portability goes, Nintendo are king, always have been, but they haven't used gimmicks on their handheld consoles nearly as heavily as on they home consoles, which are usually centered around ridiculous gimmicks.

I don't care about Nintendo's silly home console gimmicks, i found Nintendo's choice to use carts instead of CDs a bit stupid, same when they used mini discs, i couldn't be bothered to wave my arms around to play games and i genuinely didn't think having a tablet as a controller was particularly fun.

Thats the N64, GameCube, Wii and Wii U, the only one that was actually successful was the Wii and that was due to the motion controls fad which died off by early 2009.

You all rave and rant about how innovative they are but bet money, as a business, if Nintendo could redo those silly mistakes on those consoles, they would have done.

@TheWingedAvenger lmfao imagine trying to convince someone to support poor business practices by telling them to be less materialistic.

Jesus, you realise this is a video game website? you honestly could not get more materialistic.

You're so far down that Nintendo Kool Aid that i doubt anyone can help you, but it's hilarious to watch this.

@Gwynbleidd lol you sound so jaded that so many Nintendo fans are buying into this Steam Deck, i wonder how your wife would feel if she knew how insecure you are.

i don't have a "main" account, i would come to this website sometimes but i decided to make an account because i see so many salty Nintendo fans and it truly makes me laugh to watch how insecure so many of you are being over this thing.

Also it's cute of you to care about what my Nintendo games will do, but my Switch still works, it might be old but it still works, Nintendo haven't given me enough reason to give them more money yet.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch OLED, Worth The Upgrade? Team NL Has A Chat

I need a new Switch as my launch Switch isn't sounding too healthy, it's been with e since 6 months after launch, so the OG model.

But I'm going to wait a while before i do that, i have a feeling that this Steam Deck will force Nintendo to reevaluate their pricing, anyone who thinks this won't effect the sales of the OLED Switch are legitimately fooling themselves at this stage.

Long term the effect on the Switch will be totally negligible, but the OLED Switch is about to get a stomping this Christmas. Nintendo are probably expecting sales akin to the Lite (14m as of March this year) - but with everything thats transpired around it, i doubt they'll even sell 10m of them.

Re: Metroid Dread Producer Hopes Fans Look Forward To "Future Episodes" Once The Current Story Arc Concludes

@link3710 it's mainly down to personal preference but take BOTW for example, a full AAA game with 3D graphics and a huge open world to explore.

You know that the time and effort that has gone into developing that would be 3 times as much as the time and effort that goes into a 2D platformer (trying to pretend otherwise at this point, with the Indie market in clear view of us, would be silly now).

My question to you would be how you can justify spending the same on a 2D platforming game when you know it has less effort put into it than other games priced the same?

Re: Gabe Newell: Pricing Valve's Switch-Like Steam Deck Was "Painful"

Restryder

If the Switch and this were released at the same time, it still wouldn't have beaten the Switch, Nintendo would have adopted a more aggressive pricing strategy as well.

But for arguments sake, lets say that the available market for handheld is 100m units (it's probably a bit more than that, but lets round it off to a round number).

If both were released at the same time, when the dust settles, The Deck would be sitting on 20-30 million sales and the Switch (at a reduced price), would be sitting on 70-80 million units sold.

So in the end Nintendo would still win that race, but you'd be a fool for thinking it "won't effect them".

If you gotta hand over a potential 30% of your market share to a competitor, you're not gonna be happy about it, no matter how you try and spin it.

@Kirgo

1 - it was $240 to make a Switch in 2017, the components used in the Switch since then have decreased in price by a lot, especially the Tegra Chip.

2 - Your justification for thinking Skyward Sword is your own personal preference, but if Bethesda tried to charge $60 for a re-release of Skyrim in 4K, i bet you'd be singing an entirely different tune.

3 - "The vast majority of people don't care" - yeah because the like to dislike ratio on the Nintendo YouTube advert for their online services. How many times have they uploaded that video now? - again your own personal opinion. Seems most do care.

4 - I don't see other companies going to the lengths Nintendo goes to shut down their own fans who want to celebrate Nintendo. Your reasoning here reeks of Corporate Lacky to me.

5 - "I have a problem with companies charging me for online but i have no problem when Nintendo does it" - this literally made me laugh out loud 😆😂

6 - yes they are, quite a few are right here evidently.

7 - Imagine not owning a product or using a particular service and attempting to pick holes in said product or service... when you don't own or use it. Those people are called haters, i am not a hater.

For me to be critical of Nintendo, i need to own their products, otherwise I'm just a blind hater and their just as bad as blind fans.

@glaemay i have a bias against charging customers $350 for 7 year old technology that costs you less than $180 to make.

I have a bias against charging $60 for a 10 year old HD port of Skyward Sword and not even upgrading the textures.

I have a bias against selling 20+ million copies of Smash and not hosting dedicated servers for your players.

I have a bias against sending a cease and desist letter to an Indiegogo charity campaign that was making custom Joy-Con controller shells in memory of Etika.

I have a bias against charging people to use an online service that has no voice chat or lobby features in 2021.

I have a bias against Blind Nintendo fans who allow big corporations to rip them off like this without calling them up on it.

but i bet i own more Switch games than you do, so I've spent more than enough money to justify any criticism i make towards them

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting A Switch OLED Or Valve Steam Deck?

Restryder

@TheWingedAvenger oh yeah because Skyward Sword isn't an inferior game, because 3 shoddy ports of old Mario games isn't inferior, because some bare bones version of Animal Crossing isn't inferior.

I tell you wants superior though, tricking people into buying inferior 7 year old technology for $350 and making them believe its superior.

you legitimately think that because Nintendo over charge for their 20 year old games, that it makes them superior?

You ought to quit before you fall too far behind pal 🤣🤣.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting A Switch OLED Or Valve Steam Deck?

Restryder

I see too many comments about price and how the Deck is too expensive, but a Switch OLED plus 4 first party Nintendo games would set you back anywhere between $550-$590

You could buy the mid range Valve Deck and 4 AAA games for about $550-600 (depending on which games you get, you can get most new AAA games for $20 or lower these days).

So the price argument is legitimately stupid at this point, Nintendo are badly over priced and this really highlights that further.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting A Switch OLED Or Valve Steam Deck?

@TheWingedAvenger here i can give you some examples if you like.

While you're playing your overpriced 4 year old Breath Of The Wild.

I can play 3 "generic action RPG" called Horizon Zero Dawn, Witcher 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2 for the same cost.

While you're playing Mario Odyssey I'll be playing Sekiro or Nioh 2 or GTA 5.

You're acting like you have better taste in games just because you play Nintendo games, it's a little bit ridiculous to be honest.
