Re: Amazingly, Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Is Nintendo's Only UK Christmas Number 1 Since 1984

Not that surprising overall.

Football is life here to the point any stranger will often talk about it to spark up conversation in the street so FIFA was always going to have an advantage in this region.

Doesn't help that Nintendo did a truly awful job for years treating the UK like an afterthought.
Sega and later Sony both took advantage of this to become Britain's dominant console providers.

The Master System and MegaDrive were the dominant consoles here due to Nintendo neglecting this region for so long, and the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 both quickly became the top consoles of their times too.

With all those factors against them it's impressive Ocarina managed to make it to the top of the pile here even once.

Re: The Plot Synopsis For Sonic Frontiers Has Been Revealed

The plot sounds pretty standard but Ian Flynn tends to do a decent job with his plots in IDW and the handling of the extended cast. At least we should expect Tails to not be a coward, Knuckles to not be an idiot and Amy to have some level of competence.

Shadow if he's there will still act like bargain basement Cell Saga Vegeta though. Sega seems to be pushing that change.

Re: Anniversary: Alex Kidd, Mario's First Real Rival, Is 35 Years Old Today

Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX recently got an update that apparently fixed some of the problems you guys had in the review with the wonky hitboxes.

Bit of a shame it came out post launch as I feel the damage has been done by JankenTeam ironically being too respectful of the original game and mapping the hit and hurtboxes to the retro sprites only.

Alex Kidd was bigger in the UK and Europe than Mario for a (very brief) time but that's largely because Nintendo didn't really bother to market the NES here.

Alex Kidd's face is still being used to sell Master Systems over in Brazil though through their plug in and play sets.

If nothing else Alex Kidd fans can take solace in him being the face of the longest selling console of all time.
