Well we're 96 games in, so I'm predicting a 3 game release for this week, followed something HUGE for next week (Paper Mario is where I'm putting my money...literally if I'm right!). There's a post on the forum about a missing url in the sequence of N64 releases...OoT-BLANK-F-Zero X, so it's a high possibility that if the 100 is a N64 release, that'll be the one.

Not noticed any sprites flickering but that may be more to do with the distraction of the quality gameplay.

One other thing....this has one of the best soundtracks ever. It's rare that music in a game makes any impression on me but from the opening of the first level it really is the balls.

Re: Video Previews for Virtual Console

RMA

Good stuff. Nice to know where to get a little look at any games I don't know. Move in the right direction at least.

Think that first sentence should read '...have NOT embraced' by the by...

Re: Hudsonsoft Game Explosion

RMA

Gotta love the backing that Hudsonsoft are bringing to the table! Now if only we get this sort of backing from Nintendo themselves ;D

Re: Dragon's Curse

RMA

How much am I enjoying replaying this? It must be 17 years since I last played this and I still remember most of the secrets. Stuck on the level with the ninjas and samurai though! Can get to the dragon but he's TOUGH!

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 2

RMA

Another good advancement this one had over it's predecessor was the inclusion of the Sonic Spin Attack. Also...looooved that casino level. First time I played it I became ridiculously addicted to the fruit machine type game on there.

Re: US VC Releases - 23rd April - Gradius 3

RMA

How long have you all had your Wii's? I got mine back at the end of Jan. Since then I've become a 'pro' at all of the sports on Wii Sports, finished all of the mini-games in Wii Play & Wario Ware, finished Ultimate Marvel Alliance on normal (nearly finished all of the comic book missions as well but finding Invisible Womans a bit tough!), and have just started to get used to the tricky controls on Tiger Woods (my only regret is buying this...but gawdamn I'll get my moneys worth!). I'm just about to start Zelda. This is on top of the VC games that I play alongside them.
I play for about an hour most weekdays and 2/3 weekend days. Thats plenty for me.
My point is that I don't see how anyone can have exhausted the play and REPLAY value of all of their games - but I'm happy to proved wrong.
I think of the VC the same as I do the release list for DVDs...some weeks there just isn't a thing I fancy picking up, some weeks loads. Just be grateful we get them at all.
By the by, the moaning is fine by me - Demon is right, some of us just don't read it - I respect that people are going to want different things from the VC. By the same token that could mean that a lean week for one VC punter is a stellar week for another. There is, after all, no accounting for taste.

Re: Europe VC Releases - 20th April - Lylat Wars

RMA

My only regret at this stage is rushing out to buy SFII World Warrior. I knew they'd bring the rest out eventually but my own mind betrayed with some weird 'if no one buys this they'll never release SSFII Turbo Championship Hyper Fighting Fuel Injected Ultimate Edition (you know...the one where Chun Li goes commando...) and bought it. Not the worst game in the world, but the worst SFII.

I've been fairly frugal when it comes to selecting my downloads and it's paid off in spades, it seems that after a week or two of playing the nostalgia wears off for many of you guys and helpful 'not as good as I remember it' posts start coming out. This has meant that I've managed to get all the games I want and have plenty of points tucked away for when the next decent one is released.

Re: NeoGeo on the Wii - SNK Speaks!

RMA

Ash - I know SNK vs. Capcom has a pretty poor reputation - I enjoyed it the few times I played it and would download it, though it may be more to do with the buzz of using Sagat to knock Kyo about!

Re: Streets of Rage

RMA

gaz...very unfortunate. Completed this last week in 1p mode...no problems. Has anyone else had the same problem as gaz in 2p?

Re: Streets of Rage 2

RMA

Completed the og SOR last week...can't wait for this to make its appearance. Demon...love 3 as well but 2 was the pinnacle of the series...just awesome.

Re: NeoGeo on the Wii - SNK Speaks!

RMA

Hmmmm...king of fighters...fatal fury...SNK vs Capcom...

Had one friend with parents who spoiled him enough to have these and from memory these were the pick of the bunch...can't wait to see what they'll come up with.

Re: Europe VC Releases - 13th April - Actraiser

RMA

It's a sad indictment of the way advertising messed us up as kids isn't...we want it and we want it NOW. Have some patience and go play / watch / read / do something else.

Now I've finished with the preaching....when IS SNES pilotwings coming out???

Re: US VC Releases - 26th March - RoTK IV

RMA

@Steve - exactly! they're quite handy really! I know what you mean - as I said, as soon as LttP became available I downloaded. That's the next one! Sometimes, just sometimes...you gots to treat yourself!

Re: US VC Releases - 26th March - RoTK IV

RMA

On a completely unrelated line of business - just read that Activision are making 8 new characters available for the X360 version of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. I'm about a quarter of the way through this and want to know if they're coming to the Wii via the shop at all before I continue? Anyone heard anything?

Re: US VC Releases - 26th March - RoTK IV

RMA

Well, we know we're getting Dragon's Curse which is pretty sweet in my books...anything else would be a bonus.

I have a philosophy that says although I have points I only need to spend them on games I want. Buy a game, beat the game, buy another and don't regret one single purchase (I do have a LOT less games than you however). I did buy LttP last week even though I'm still trying to find that secret level that's in the top left hand corner of the Valley of Bowser...y'know the one? Don't tell me though, I remembered the other 90-odd exits on my own and I'll damned if I'm not going to find this one!

Just think games that don't get played through are a bit of a waste of money...doesn't mean to say I'd persevere with a bad game!

Re: US VC Releases - 26th March - RoTK IV

RMA

You're on your own there Demon...well, on your own with your bro anyway.

Killing VC additions for a while would not benefit Wii game sales in the slightest. No one is going to pick up an average Wii game for £35 - £40 because there hasn't been a decent £5 - £8 game released for the VC.

I think you also forget that just last week LttP was finally released and this week we're getting Dragons Curse. Hardly terrible is it?

While I feel for the US this week, we've had down weeks like this. It's not the end of the world, things will pick up, etc...you have to take the rough with the smooth...trying to think of a few more cliches to wheel out in these circumstances.

Next week we have Vectorman and The Story of Thor to look forward to, and I'm sure we'll have many more great / not so great weeks in the months ahead.

Just a thought, but do you think you'd enjoy these release days as much if they just dumped only the top quality games into laps immediately? Do you think you'd miss out on some gems if they had?

Re: US VC Releases - 26th March - RoTK IV

RMA

Any ideas of what this release means for Europe on Thursday? We're not expecting Story of Thor / Vectorman / Sonic Spinball til April 6th...so what happens this week?

Re: Europe VC Releases - 23rd March - Zelda Link to the Past (Finally!)

RMA

I think now is a good time to mention that I love VC Thursdays. I spend too much time for a...mature...gamer wondering what they're gonna release each week. As Jacques the suave bowling adulterer said 'even better than the event is ze...anticipation'.

or something along those lines. Simpsons geeks need not correct my paraphrasing poor memory.

Re: Donkey Kong Country

RMA

enjoyed it...but...and heres where I get a bit red faced...far too hard for me when I had it on the SNES! Debating whether or not to download it...

Re: Street Fighter II: The World Warrior

RMA

The only reason I won't regret getting this is if they release Turbo: Hyper Fighting or Super SSII. This is rubbish in comparison, you can't even play as Sagat or any of the other 'bosses'.

Re: Super R-Type

RMA

Yes. Yes it should. although my favourite has always been R-Type 3.

Re: US VC Releases - 19th March - Beyond Oasis

RMA

Just a thought but if you want people to stop posting when is game xxx coming out, how about you introduce a wishlist section where people can add to a list of games they'd like to see on the vc? Ya never know who's watching...

Re: Dragon's Curse

RMA

@Don-Bon - if you're a fan of old school platform/adventure games with a small rpg element you're in a for a treat!

Re: Super Metroid

RMA

Apart from this there is only one other run and gun I'd buy from the SNES...Alien3. But I'm guessing they'd be licencing issues...pity. I'd guess the same would go for another great schmup...Ghostbusters on the MD. Oh well, I live in hope.
