Hotel Dusk was my first visual novel. Loved it so much. Played it at a time when there was so much uncertainty in my life. During the financial crisis, I sank a lot of brooding hours behind that miraculous dual screen, locked in my room. Those games really saved me.
No one benefited more from Nintendo’s botched gimmickries and missteps than Sony, especially in the era when Shuhei was President of SCE (which was at the tail end of the Wii and during the Wii U cycle), so of course his preference leans towards seeing Nintendo “innovate.”
The book, “Iwata Asks,” touches on the Nintendo workplace culture that had existed and the new culture he strove to promote. Very inspiring. I’m happy to learn that he made such a long-lasting impact on not only Nintendo’s hardware/software design but, more importantly, workplace welfare responsible for bringing those products to life.
@arabiansanchez of course the Switch will beat out the PS2. It hasn’t had a single price drop up to this point so there’s plenty of sales spikes left, plus pack-ins.
This can be easily refuted. Both Sony and Microsoft have presented annual/quarterly shareholder reports and celebratory milestones referencing hardware sales in relation to their competitors, including Nintendo. If Nintendo isn’t a competitor like Apple isn’t a competitor (in the video game space) then why mention them?
Sure it can outsell the PS2. In addition to the new games, it has two dramatic price drops in its pocket ($149 and $99) left, plus bundle options at those price points, which would account for a surge of many more million more units sold.
Can't wait for the Zelda, Metroid, and Splatoon movie to bring the NCU (Nintendo Cinematic Universe) to life and culminating in the blockbuster SMASH film guest starring Sonic
I’ve played and enjoyed Natural Doctrine, which had a brilliantly complex battle system but everything else was awful — storyline, characters, art, difficulty, EVERYTHING else.
@Zisssou Same. Got a family now and have to read a lot to stay current in my field. My only comfort is knowing that if I ever arrive at a place in life where gaming can be a main hobby again, I’ll have one helluva backlog!
No Mercy was the GOAT if you’re a WWE fan but the preceding game, WCW/NWO Revenge, was the best if you were a fan of the Turner brand, and it was the first of the AKI wrestling games to implement finishers that opponents actually sold on (prior to Revenge, wrestlers would jump back up after being hit by a finishing move).
Fire Pro Returns is also great and has actually usurped the AKI games for me. Didn’t like the game at first but once you get used to the engine and the insane customization there’s no going back. Seriously. Take a few days to learn it and to play with the customizations, then all other wrestling games will seem basic.
During the Great Recession we lost our home and I was in the throes of a severe depression compounded by a long fight with alcoholism. The Nintendo DS and games like Hotel Dusk, 999, and TWEWY pulled me from the brink. While those years were some of the hardest of my life, I will always look back on those games with the greatest of fondness for shining their intermittent light in that darkness.

Re: Reaction: With Xenoblade Chronicles X On Switch, The Wii U's Demise Is Complete
NintendoLand next, THEN will the demise be complete. Still the party game of all time and it’s marooned on the Wii U
Re: Feature: Why I Still Love My Wii U
Nintendo Land (best party game ever) is the only reason I’ve kept mine, oh and Black Ops II.

I wonder if this game is like that?
