@Dooyoo That really bothers me too, when there's no way to preview a game's use of 3D. It's been a few years and it's still rare for the eShop to properly display 3D screenshots of games!
@motang I know I'm about four years late answering your question, but I'm sure the reason it won't be released on VC is the same reason Nintendo was forced to stop production of the game back then, a while after it was released. In 1987, a 4-minute short film called "Red's Dream" starring an autonomous computer-generated unicycle was added to the end of a Disney movie. This later allowed Pixar to sue DMA Design for copyright infringement, halting this game's production...
I like a lot of Crawfish games, and still own about ten - including the excellent Driver: You are the Wheelman and Aliens: Thanatos Encounter for Game Boy Color.
I already own the game from when I got it on sale, but haven't played it for more than a few minutes. It looked great, but I was disappointed that the TV-only sound hadn't been patched yet. Until reading this, I wondered if it would ever actually happen...
Another unknown yet great licensed game by WayForward! I don't know what was wrong with the artist that made the cover art for the US, though. Those eyes are especially disturbing. I got a case from the UK version, because that's how Taz is supposed to look...
I don't get why so many people think that a 7 is a low score. The way see it, and the way the scores usually are on this site, 6 is an average score. Games that get a 6 are still worthy of a purchase when it's something that interests me/you personally. Anything above a 6 should at least be given a closer look by everyone, until they know enough to make an informed decision!
By the way, has any patch been made for this game?
Based on the demo, I don't think this game is nearly fun enough to ignore the fact that G-Style has completely overlooked implementing the 3D effect AGAIN... I put up with it for Crazy Construction, but only because I think that's a much more enjoyable game.
Right, it would make more sense to wait until a reviewer who doesn't dislike the sport has time to review the game. Also, the reviewer seems to be unaware that this is just a slightly upgraded version of the GameCube game Mario Superstar Baseball.
I like how the trailer is updated for the sale (5/1-5/15), but it still says
"Over a 100 puzzles to solve!"
(cuz that's read - over a one hundred puzzles...)
@Kitsune_Rei I haven't played it yet, but it seems you're the only one that noticed (and mentioned) that you could finish puzzles with pieces in the wrong place. Did you figure out why it does that or how to prevent it?
That's why I really wish the screenshots were viewable in 3D for ALL of the 3DS games that utilize the 3D effect (like 95% of the 3DS eShop games). I don't understand why it's been years and still only a minority of the games properly display their screenshots in 3D!
Although that doesn't really apply to this game (since it's all 2D), if they simply fixed the three screenshots in each games' descriptions to look 3D like they do in the actual game - people would know, by the lack of 3D in the screenshots, when a game like this or Crazy Construction disregards the 3D capabilities entirely. How the games look in 3D and how well it's implemented is important to lots of people, and can definitely affect their decision on whether or not to make a purchase - especially with the higher-priced games.
@StephenKelly180 I just bought this game and to my surprise, it has NO 3D effects! I would think that you'd at least mention it in the review (unless I missed it somehow), considering how rare that is for a 3DS eShop game. I'm also surprised that no one has mentioned it in the comments...
As far as I know, Fractured Soul is the only other eShop game that scored as highly as this one and didn't utilize the 3D at all (except for Bomb Monkey and Fluidity: Spin Cycle, but those require you to turn the 3DS so the 3D wouldn't work right anyway). Plenty of people pointed out the lack of 3D in the comments on the Fractured Soul review, and unlike the title graphic for that game (on the upper screen when the game's icon is selected on the bottom), the one for Crazy Construction is in full 3D with the four characters rotating under the title!
I was a little worried when I saw that the demo had no 3D, but then I figured it was like all the screenshots and videos on the eShop that don't show up in 3D - even though the games themselves are entirely. What's up with that, anyway? Some games get it right, but so many of them don't. I can understand with the videos, but how hard would it be to fix the three screenshots in the 3DS games' descriptions to look 3D like they do in the actual game?
@WinterWarm Of course Risky's Revenge has better graphics! It came out 8 years after the GBC game! That certainly doesn't make it the better game - and very few people prefer it to the original.
@Damo Wow, that was fast. So, even though I already have Spirits on the DS, it'd be worth it (in your opinion) to import the original? And, either way, could you tell me some things that you prefer about the original?
@Damo Have you also played Bangai-O Spirits (DS)? If so, can you answer my question in the previous post? I've been waiting almost four months, but nobody's replied! It's crazy how many reviews on this site get a ton of comments posted in the first few days, and then NEVER again!
@WinterWarm It is pretty silly to give this game an 8 when Risky's Revenge got a 10... although that review was written by a more reliable reviewer. This reviewer, Mike Mason, gave Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion a 4/10, which is really unreasonable for a quality game - even if it's not your cup of tea.
I've loved Shantae since she got her start on GBC, and I'm a paid backer of this game, but the hair-whipping attack originated with Kabuki Quantum Fighter for the NES!
@onlyaman @SetupDisk They've corrected it now, on their site, by adding the 'Super' to Mario Bros.
I like the design and everything, but it's unfortunate that the screenshots aren't from the original genuine carts in an actual NES. I'm basing my judgement on the extra smooth rendering, lack of sharp edges, and totally non-pixelated look.
@BulbasaurusRex You would have to turn the 3D off if you turned the 3DS sideways because the 3D effect is achieved by sending separate images to your left and right eyes - which would instead be aimed upward and downward when you turn the 3DS sideways. Just turn it now while viewing something 3D, and you'll see how that wouldn't work.
@baba_944 I also like Hoyle Casino, for the Game Boy Color anyway. It helped that it was one of the GBC games that actually recorded your progress with a battery save.
As for Vegas Stakes, I prefer the Game Boy version (which also had battery save) played on a Super Game Boy... It had some of the coolest custom borders, which would change depending on which casino you visited.
In your opinion, is this game different enough from Bangai-O Spirits (DS) to feel like a separately unique experience? What I mean is, for example, the original Sin & Punishment (although I imported it years before its sequel) definitely is to me when compared to the Wii sequel, enough so to be worth the expense of importing the original now. Is this one?
I definitely prefer the Game Boy version from Hudson. I especially liked how it showed screens with the character in different poses between levels, and unique comments/tips each time it showed the map screen.
What a horrible reviewer ~ I can see why he was only active on the site for about six months, three years ago. The score of 1 was clearly given out of spite.
This game, while not for the easily frustrated, deserves a 6 or 7/10.
@Guitardude7 Super Smash Bros. Brawl had bad load times? I own the original and Melee, but haven't gotten Brawl yet. I don't remember ever playing a game from a Nintendo franchise with bad load times...
To those who've played Brawl and this game, how does the length and frequency of the load times compare?
I strongly disagree with the review and score. I'll just be sure not to bother reading another written by you.
This game had a few faults, but they could very easily be overlooked considering what an awesome game it was with such a unique sci-fi storyline! There was certainly nothing else like it on the N64, and I strongly recommend it to anyone who thinks it looks or sounds interesting!
No one else thinks it's funny how he pronounces Mario, "marry-oh"...?
And I wouldn't be surprised if someone did tell him he was playing Luigi Mario, Mario Mario's brother... but really they've never been given a last name, right?
I almost got this back then, but I liked the Tournament Edition for SNES much better. I still have that one (and EarthBound) with the box and instructions, though...
The very good GameCube version and extremely underrated/ignored/unknown Game Boy Advance version (easily the best game in the series on GBA) are definitely worth checking out though!
Ridge Racer 3D is an awesome racing game NOBODY mentioned! I bought it the day the 3DS was released (because I knew it would have great use of the 3D) and have never regretted it for a second!

Thanks! Obviously I want a patch too, but at least now I'll know what to avoid if I play it before that happens.

@GeminiSaint Do you know which characters and levels specifically, besides the one that was mentioned (Bit.Trip Runner entering the first temple)?
