@daznsaz I know what you mean; my wife's scores are pretty much unbeatable as well. I still have a lot of love for Zoo Keeper though. It was one of the first DS games I ever bought.
@BulbasaurusRex MK:DD!! didn't support multiplayer over the Internet — not without jumping through all sorts of hoops via unofficial channels anyway — so no, I don't consider it to have online play
@Viewtiful_Joe personally I loved the music in GX enough to buy the official soundtrack CD
@mariofanatic128 Cheers. Also, don't let James Newton hear you calling Sonic Heroes "underrated". He's a huge Sonic fan, and when I asked him if I could do the review, he answered with — and I'm paraphrasing here — "yes, but if you give it anything higher than a 2, you're out of here!".
Personally, I'd rather be given the choice as opposed to being told when I can or can't access what has been a highly publicised — and therefore anticipated — feature
@accc I think the controls are bad. When reviewing Go Vacation, at least half of the time was spent playing with my wife, who agreed that the controls were bad. In fact, if she'd written this review, she'd have been a lot less lenient than I've been.
You might not agree with the review or the score - a quick look at Metacritic shows that scores range from high 80's to scores as low as mine, so many wouldn't agree - but at the end of the day, a review is part objective analysis and part opinion. You might not agree with mine, and that's fine.
@TheDarkness. I never once claimed that MGS used a second analogue for aiming. In fact I explicitly stated that a second analogue would be useful for CAMERA CONTROL in third person games.
@TheDarkness you try playing a third person game without dual analogue control for camera movement and see what happens. If that's not reliance, I don't know what is
But they can't constantly bring out games, and if they're not bringing out games they're not making any money. Movie tie-ins and licenced games help fund the development of all the Sonics and Shinobis
@theblackdragon spot on. Ixnay is a brilliant album (Offspring haven't been so hot from Americana onwards), although I'm more of a Bad Religion guy myself.
@Zaphod42 You're kidding, right? Have you seen Capcom's approach to DLC on the 360 and PS3? Charging extra for Resident Evil 5 multiplayer when it was already on the disc, for example.
I hope Capcom stay as far away from the eShop and 3DS DLC as is humanly possible, otherwise we'll be paying £30 for a 3DS game cartridge containing nothing but a title screen (DLC coming soon though!)
Bring on Sonic Generations! I've already succumbed to the fact that I'll be getting the 3DS version along with the Xbox 360 version. It's going to be a very Sonic-y winter for yours truly.
You only need to look at the diversity, imagination and inventiveness of the Wario Land games to see that Wario World is as by-the-numbers and tediously average as a game can get.
A 3D version of Wario Land - transformations, proper puzzles, etc - would have been far better than the mindless button masher that Wario World turned out to be.
Sonic Adventure is indeed a glitchy mess on both Dreamcast - passable at launch, abysmal now - and Gamecube.
Sonic Adventure 2 might not be brilliant but it's miles better than its predecessor. I'd review SA1 but I honestly couldn't bring myself to play it again.
That's the point though: SA2:B doesn't have enough good gameplay to make it a great game. The hunting bits are ok, but as I stated the shooting and racing bits are attrocious. When 50% of the core gameplay isn't much cop, how can a game be classed as "great"?
Reviewing SA2:B wasn't hard. I simply looked at the game objectively and told the truth: SA2:B is merely above average.
@yoyogamer - finding Tetris DS is hard enough. Finding one that isn't extortionately priced is nigh on impossible. Personally, I've no interest in Tetris Axis. If there's one version I want, it's the DS one. Anything that's Nintendo-themed is "ftw" in my book
Even when it was released on the Dreamcast, Sonic Adventure 2 had its fair share of issues. By Gamecube standards it just wasn't up to scratch. Iffy camera, 50% of the game is rubbish, shocking voicework and lip-synching, Dreamcast-era visuals...
I said it's not bad overall - 6 = above average - and worth playing, but there are way better 3D Sonic games and even better 3D platformers out there.
Speedway USA was always something I meant to play but I never did get around to it. I did love Mickey's Racing Adventure though. It was the first Game Boy Color game I ever owned and remains one of my favourites to this day.
I sincerely doubt there'll be any Shadow shooty nonsense in Sonic Generationa. Every screenshot and trailer depicting actual gameplay since the game was announced has featured Sonic and Sonic alone. I don't think there's anything to worry about.
Personally I'd say that Turok Evokution was better than Turok 3. However, the PS3/360 Turok reboot was one of the most disappointing games I've ever played. What Disney and Propoganda were thinking while developing that God-awful mess truly escapes me.
But if, for example, you were a huge Wave Race fan, surely you would rather have a budget-priced remastered Wave Race 64 on 3DS while you waited for a new instalment on the handheld, as opposed to having no Wave Race at all while you wait?
@dimlylitmonkey N64 Magazine was class. No magazine nowadays mixes information with laugh-out-loud humour like they did back in the day. I genuinely miss going to the newsagents every 4 weeks to pick that up

Re: Rayman Origins
It's been typed up and submitted, so you won't have to wait too much longer
Re: Review: James Noir's Hollywood Crimes (3DS)
@mariofanatic128 - I'm not hard to please; I'm just always right
@Collision_Cat - ha!
Re: Rayman Origins
@Shadowflash I cannot stress enough how absolutely, utterly, undeniably, inarguably brilliant Rayman Origins is.
Review in a few days.
Re: James Noir's Hollywood Crimes
It's pretty good. Review coming soonish.
Re: Feature: The Most Bizarre Nintendo Life Search Results
Is it too late to jump ship?
Re: Match Those 3D Animals in Zoo Keeper for 3DS

Re: Round Table: Let’s Talk About the GameCube and Wii
@Oddy Thomas is right. And no wonder; you wouldn't believe some of the gross stuff I've seen since I joined the NLife team
Re: Round Table: Let’s Talk About the GameCube and Wii
@SegaSquirtle one day I'll write a review where no one disagrees with the score.
One day...

Re: Feature: Remembering the GameCube
@NintyFan absolutely agree with you. It may have been relatively unsuccessful commercially, but some of my favourite games ever appeared on the 'Cube.

Re: Review: Go Vacation (Wii)
@LEGEND_MARIOID you shouldn't have to get used to them just because they're bad though, should you? The controls should just work.
Yes there are wide open worlds to explore and lots of minigames, but the core mechanics just aren't up to scratch.
Re: Talking Point: First-Person Shooters and the 3DS Circle Pad Pro
@TheDarkness. I never once claimed that MGS used a second analogue for aiming. In fact I explicitly stated that a second analogue would be useful for CAMERA CONTROL in third person games.
Twice.
Re: Talking Point: First-Person Shooters and the 3DS Circle Pad Pro
I'm with you there, Corbie
Re: Talking Point: First-Person Shooters and the 3DS Circle Pad Pro
Chances of a legit Halo game releasing on 3DS aren't slim at all.
They're non-existant.
It's a shame, but it's true.
Re: Talking Point: First-Person Shooters and the 3DS Circle Pad Pro

Re: Review: Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour (GameCube)
@Capt_N you can get some when you go out and buy Toadstool Tour. In fact, I might change my avatar to a butter cup just to wind you up
Re: Review: Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour (GameCube)
I think Nintendo really missed a trick not bringing a Mario Golf title to the Wii. It'd probably be my most played Wii game ever if they had.
Re: Go Vacation
@LEGEND_MARIOID I should have it either tomorrow or Saturday for review

Re: Review: Captain America: Super Soldier (3DS)
If no one supported SEGA - who published this title - then they might very well go under and you'd have no CRUSH3D or Shinobi.
Swings and roundabouts.
Re: Review: Captain America: Super Soldier (3DS)
The first year's always the hardest. From this month on though, things will start to get a LOT better. Hang in there.
Re: Nintendo Promises 3DS DLC for Next Year's Titles

Re: Review: Captain America: Super Soldier (3DS)
@zdyoshikpl I'd save your money.
Also, to my knowledge, 3DS is just about the only console not getting a Cars 2 game. It's on the Wii and DS though.
Re: Mario and Sonic Have a Valentine's Day Date
Bring on Sonic Generations! I've already succumbed to the fact that I'll be getting the 3DS version along with the Xbox 360 version. It's going to be a very Sonic-y winter for yours truly.
Re: Review: Brunswick Pro Bowling (3DS)
Plus, surely that would make you a spelling Nazi, not a grammar Nazi?
Just saying.
Re: Review: Wario World (GameCube)
It's not. You just need to collect more pointless stuff. The hardest part of Wario World was willing myself to bother with it.
Re: Review: Wario World (GameCube)

Re: Review: Wario World (GameCube)
@NintyFan - sorry, I'll remember to take the instruction manual into account next time I'm reviewing a game :/
Re: Kirby's Return to Dream Land Art is What Dreams Are Made Of
Want.
That's all.
Re: Review: Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (GameCube)
Taking Colours out of the equation, saying SA2:B is the best 3D Sonic game isn't exactly high praise, is it? None of them have been great.
Re: Wario World
@pntjr - I'm playing this for review right now.
Re: Review: Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (GameCube)

Re: Review: Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (GameCube)
@Nin-pal - all the Sonic and Shadow stages are good. My personal favourite being the not-long-enough Metal Harbour.
It's not the Sonic/Shadow stages that had us mark SA2:B 6/10.
Re: Review: Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (GameCube)
Perhaps that'll be one of the Sonic Generations achievements
Re: Review: Tetris Axis (3DS)

Re: Review: Turok: Rage Wars (Nintendo 64)

Except Turok 3. That was a bit... crap

Lex Luthor: "SOLVE MY MAZE!!!"
It's amazing how one game has kept the entire games journalism business fully stocked in "crap game jokes" for well over a decade
