Re: Review: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl - A Middling Pair Of Remakes

Maxie93

I’m really pleased with this review, you really took into account the changes Pokémon has had over the years and it’s clear this opinion is representative of a long term fan.

So many reviewers just either shill out or fanboy over Nintendo/ Pokémon and give these games glowing reviews because the classic Pokémon formulae is still fun.

You actually looked at the game objectively and logically and for that you gain my respect.

Re: Exp. Share Supposedly Can't Be Turned Off In The Pokémon Diamond And Pearl Remakes

Great another Pokémon game where you end up massively over levelled for every encounter and can practically win any battle with any move.

Really don’t understand why you can’t turn this off like in past games, it was the closest thing we had to a difficulty option.

Like others have said Pokémon was never super hard or anything but now it’s become so easy it’s just tedious to play.

Btw I see some saying exp share is great now you don’t have to grind. Some of us just didn’t grind, Pokémon never really required much grind. You just go into battle with weaker Pokémon and win due to strategy. Most people who “grind” in reality are just over levelling their Pokémon and winning via brute force.

Don’t get me wrong I don’t have a problem with that, I just didn’t want that gameplay style forced on me.

Re: Random: Epic Goes To War With Apple, Asks Players To "Join The Fight" And "Free Fortnite"

There is already kind of a fair solution to the IAP problem imo.

If i remember correctly gwent card packs cost more on IOS because of the cut Apple take. However you can just go on the PC version and buy your card packs there and save some money.

All this really means is that if you are more savvy consumer you can save yourself a bit of money. But its still fair to apple because the in app payment method goes through their store.

As much as Epic say this is about the consumers (which I dont think is 100% true), it makes sense that Apple/Google/Nintendo whoever get some sort of revenue out of effectively hosting the game on their platform.

The same thing happens with physical games in stores, the retailers take something similar to a 30% cut of the sale price when selling a game in their store. They can't operate for free. Whether or not 30% is too much is a different question.

Re: Gallery: Pokémon Sword And Shield Isle Of Armor - Glorious Key Art And New Screenshots

Maxie93

@johnvboy I am referring to the cave screenshot in particular. And to be honest I stand by it.

It's like an n64 game but with greater clarity. There is absolutely no depth to the lighting at all, and overall pretty low poly terrain. Some baked lighting would of been an easy add and would help significantly.

Don't get me wrong the other scenes fair better, but that one in particular doesn't look a lot better than Pokemon snap to me.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 1.1.2 Is Available Now, Patch Notes To Follow

@AtlanteanMan I agree completely about the shared island issue with multiple players on the same console, so I am not going to argue with you there.

I also think the online multiplayer could be improved by removing the lengthy animations mentioned elsewhere in this comment feed. As well as the stability of the connections! Like why do you need to get kicked out when it fails, cant it just reconnect? Whats the problem?

But I do think one of the things you are complaining about is kind of what makes Animal Crossing a unique and special experience.

Having to go to your friends islands to find different fruits, furninture, turnip prices etc... Is part of the excitement. If you had access to everything straight away on your own island it wouldnt feel anywhere near as special and unique, and this isnt something new to this version of AC.

I realise if you don't have anyone to play with that you are not really going to be happy about this. But I do think this is what makes the game unique, it encourages you to meet up with your friends and kind of makes the world of AC feel a little more real and less "gamey", I think if you took it all away it would lose a lot of charm.

Re: Talking Point: Important Steps to Bring the 3DS and Wii U Closer Together

Maxie93

Whilst I do agree that adding a cross buy feature is needed and would be awesome, I'm not sure if it'll "save" the Wii U. The only reason I say this is like Kerry says Sony are in a position opposite to Nintendo, but the problem is the same. And the tactics Sony have been using to save the vita haven't worked. So I doubt they will work for Nintendo.
