@Latinogamerchiz0 @goggles789 I would just like to say, while I somewhat agree with your sentiments (always good to be cautious), we also shouldn't forget what good Kickstarter/backing has got us.
Without it, we likely wouldn't have Shovel Knight, which is stellar, A Hat In Time, also brilliant, Shantae and Yooka-Laylee. Not to mention Bloodstained, which is shaping up to be great.
It is, of course, an uncertain platform that has led to a huge amount of horror stories but we shouldn't write it off. The problem is with these dodgy and, at times, incompetent and immoral developers rather than the site itself
@ricklongo haha I get it, sometimes I read a thread that is so full of negativity, narrow thinking and, in some cases, outright stupidity and my urge to fight back and make a case against them is outweighed by the wearying idea of having all of these people respond to me, unwilling to debate anything and instead just out to defend their thinking. I don't blame you at all for no longer engaging in online discussions like this but it is nice to hear from you in this case (:
@nofriendo not a problem, friend. At the end of the day, in a debate such as this, you will never talk somebody around. Someone with radical views will never switch up their viewpoint and, in a lot of cases, have decided that before anyone even begins to dispute their case. So, all we can really do is fight our corner, make the points we want to and let those with questionable standpoints at least know that what they think and say can be detrimental not only to individuals but to whole groups of people who continue to be attacked by those that their negative views have facilitated.
It's tough, man. In any situation, even in stories you look at and think 'that is cut and dry, black and white: this person is guilty and awful', any forum or comment section will have people defending them. I don't know what it is. Maybe people just hate the idea of conforming and being told how to feel, so the need to break out and contradict the general consensus wins.
I don't know. Just gave me some faith seeing your comments and nice to hear from you!
@nofriendo gotta say man, I was wildly surprised by the responses your comments are getting. Sometimes I think the world's gone crazy.
Here's a man in a very privileged position, being accused of something awful with enough evidence to at least support the POSSIBILITY he did something heinous. And here is a comment section decrying YOU for pointing this out and, in some cases, entirely dismissing that he ever could have for no other reason than being a fan of his.
My only guess is that the world has become desensitised to news stories like this now and, in a 'PC culture gone mad' mindset, jump to silence and dismiss genuine victims. It's just baffling.
Anyway, I just wanted to say well done you for sticking to your guns despite so many naysayers and doing so in an eloquently articulated way. Shockingly, there aren't enough people like you and, if there are, they're shouted down by the very vocal minority.
@Mr_Pepperami @bimmy-lee if either of you are looking for a good modern horror, I'd recommend A Quiet Place. Strictly speaking, more of a thriller but it blew me away. The new 'It' was fantastic as well, really captured that sense of childhood adventure, as opposed to a jump scare-fest.
I have to agree, It Follows was wonderful, Get Out was superb and Hereditary was sort of pretty good. I also recently stumbled across Mark Duplass' Creep series and enjoyed those a LOT, a great character study. For me, though, horror doesn't get much better than the original Blair Witch Project
@Dalarrun oh yeah, I completely get that. I'm not suggesting the videogame industry as a whole is perfect at all, there are terrible practices throughout. EA are a particularly awful example of a company denying players of content unless they're willing to fork up more cash on top of what was paid for the software.
I'm simply referring to seeing people's opinions being vehemently bashed and contrarians ripping on something for no reason outside of it being popular. Those are the things I'm growing weary of
@aaronsullivan @Dalarrun it's nice to see a little understanding and diplomacy. Gives me a bit of faith in my hobby. Between hyped games being trashed and the 'console wars', which is admittedly much less prominent but still crops up often enough, it is so easy to start to resent a community where everyone just seems out for blood because your opinion might differ.
@Dalarrun amen to that. Also, I bought a Battle Pass last season to access the premium stuff for £8 and when you purchase it, it straight up tells you that if you play through the pass enough, you'll save up enough v-bucks to get the next season's pass without spending anything more.
If that isn't massively commendable conduct, I don't know what is. Especially for a game that's already free to play!
I am literally sick to my STOMACH of the stigma around Fortnite. Honestly, the second I see anything regarding the game, I just know there will be a barrage of negative comments. It's just so disgusting to me.
I don't play Pokemon, I just don't see the appeal, but I don't make it a duty of mine to comment on every (or any, for that matter) article I see expressing my distaste. It's so petty and, ask yourself, what does it achieve? You're not sharing a ground breaking opinion, you're echoing what 99% of the voices on the internet love stating. It's also very obvious that the majority of the people who do have something to say have never played it or only played it very passingly.
It isn't an incredible game but it is an unbelievable amount of fun when you get a group of friends together and just chat and play. And the character designs are, at times, stellar.
All I'm saying is that it just comes across as so childish and I can't help but instantly dismiss anybody that comments something like 'ugh fortnite is a kids game'. It just goes against my philosophy in gaming - why should you shame anyone for enjoying a game or shame a game that, regardless of your personal opinion, IS high quality because of its reputation? Just play games and enjoy them. If you don't like something, get over it and play something else.
@sandman89 I don't think that's the case. I just think, as with anything, the game isn't for everybody. I, on the other hand, am about 30 hours in and have loved every single second and have multiple friends who have played it to 100% completion and adore it.
I don't think it's a case of 'hype wearing off' or anything, I just think some people have by now invested time in the game and found the intensive exploration/repeated sense of loss is just not their cup of tea. And that's A-OK, that doesn't mean it's any worse objectively or subjectively to those who said they loved it from the off.
@Damo @SuperCharlie78 have to agree with SuperCharlie - the suffix sort of renders the tagline redundant. Just looks messy and unprofessional to me, the tagline alone sufficed
After spending 55+ hours 100%ing the Crash trilogy (all platinum relics too, it was a stressful and crushing experience) I was after something new to play - this sale seems to have come at a perfect time, downloaded last night!
Have yet to play it but could somebody please explain to me how the DLC packs are integrated? Just want to know whether or not it'll be obvious when entering a DLC area or if they're locked off all together behind a menu. Thank you!
Now working my way through Crash Bandicoot: N Sane Trilogy. Got my 103% on the first game and have 21/27 platinum relics but my god are they getting infuriating. I thought The High Road was bad enough, I'm dreading Stormy Ascent.
Other than that, continuing to pile on top of my 100 hours of Fortnite. Amazing games.
Please, going forward, can we avoid spoilers for any Smash characters in article titles? I know this is only a rumour, furthermore a rumour based on a flimsy source, but I really don't want to know what new characters are coming. I love to scroll this website a couple of times every day, so if you post anything relating to new Smash characters, could you title the articles something more akin to 'new character rumoured for Smash!'
That way, people who aren't so bothered can click to know more while others like me can simply scroll on by. Just that, with so little genuinely new characters making an appearance, it'd be a shame to know them all going in
Currently spreading out little pockets of Fortnite amongst more extended sessions of Axiom Verge.
First time playing AV and I am truly blown away! I honestly think it may be the greatest 2D Metroidvania I've had the pleasure of playing. There is such a constant stream of genuinely game-changing power-ups/abilities that I'm always in awe of the depth of the mechanics.
In fact, I actually went back to your review of the game yesterday to see what was said about it and was shocked to see all of the negativity surrounding the game in the comments! I don't understand it, it's absolutely wonderful!
@gloom not sure if you're joking, obviously referring to the place being straight edge. Y'know, normal, sedate, by the books. If you were joking, my bad
@thesilverbrick I'm quite sure Captain Toad was a budget release on Wii U, so this release is just reflecting that price. Therefore, as both Captain Toad and DK are launching on Switch within the price range they were at on Wii U, the comparison is irrelevant
@Heavyarms55 okay! No need to get antsy in your pantsy, was just pointing out a fact a lot of people like to forget in order to serve their romanticising of something not that incredible. It's seeing people liken it to the truly mind blowing initial merging of Mario & Sonic in the Olympics games that rattles me. That WAS revolutionary.
Anyway, you're really not missing much having skipped anything past the original trilogy.
@Heavyarms55 my mind remains firmly intact! Are you forgetting Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex (GC), Crash Nitro Kart (GC), Crash of the Titans (Wii) and Crash: Mind Over Mutant (Wii)? Not to mention the weird Spyro/Crash crossover back on the GBA.
It is cool we're getting the original trilogy on Nintendo but people are acting as though it's an unbelievable feat of tempered rivalry just to see the character on a Nintendo console when it's actually happened many times before
@gatorboi352 just to say, I've been extremely excited for this from the day it was announced, before this supposed Switch starvation was even apparent. I don't think it's fair to assume people are only buying this game because they've got nothing else to play just because you don't want to play it.
In fact, the only reason I'm NOT saying 'day one purchase err mah gerddd' is because I have too much in my backlog: Mario + Rabbids, Doom, Axiom Verge and Yooka-Laylee. I, personally, feel pretty full.
@bLiNdSiDe82 you're right. It's not closed minded to disagree with something. I don't recall ever saying it was...
If you so vehemently and vocally disagree on something that has literally no bearing on your life whatsoever and serves only to make other people feel comfortable and happier, that's where the problem lies.
The fact you're talking anatomically instantly invalidates your point. It's not about what you were physically born with, it's how they mentally identify and how they see their personality/behaviour/thoughts.
Don't come into the discussion under the guise of being diplomatic before immediately revealing your old-fashioned views.
@Majora101 @Equinox @TossedLlama @Boidoh how ridiculous can you get. Jump down from your high horse and don't boycott a survey for trying not to offend people who have a different mindset to you. Says it all that you had to come and comment, couldn't just avoid it and move on.
And this is aimed just at Majora & TossedLlama: I'm all for making jokes about literally any subject provided it's funny or at least not in poor taste. Copy and pasting the 'lol there are so many genders now!' joke that's served as the lowest hanging fruit since the dawning of non-binary genders really belittles whatever wit you may have.
@gcunit really gutted nobody made a reference to Limmy's Show in response to your question but I guess such is the life of a fan of obscure British television
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I have to say, mate, it truly baffles me how much you find to complain about. It doesn't particularly bother me but I've been roaming this site for a couple of years now, scrolling articles and comments, and your name just pops up constantly and it only ever acts as an indicator for negativity and smugness. It's really quite tiresome.
I don't know why you feel the world owes you everything or even why you feel the world needs/wants to see you crying about the Switch getting ports or NintendoLife staff not running the site exactly as you'd want them to. This site is far from perfect and Nintendo and third parties often make questionable moves. You know what I do? I either move on or, in the case of Nintendo, show my views with my wallet. The last thing I think to do is log on to a website and post a little whiney comment that achieves nothing and just makes you look bad - especially when you're always whinging about a console you don't even own!
I know you have metal skin, or at least like to convey yourself that way, but why don't you, for just one second, realise that not everyone in the world is looking out for you and that, if you weren't so pessimistic literally all of the time, not everybody is out to get you either. Every comment seems loaded with a readiness for resistance and it just seems so pithy. All I'm suggesting is to get a hobby that will perhaps yield more productivity. There are better ways to be spending your time than moaning about everything you can and provoking people that can actually find joy in things.
I saw it on Sunday. I have two friends who I go to see bad movies with for a laugh, the last being Emoji Movie (I'm sure there's an argument to be made here against giving money to studios who make poor movies but life's too short). Anyway, we decided to go see this after hearing some pretty damning reviews and it did NOT disappoint.
Honestly, the writing is incredibly cringey and just plain bad, the pacing is wildly off - the effort to cram all the main plot points from the first two seasons was not even slightly successful - the characters completely one dimensional and it is also utterly tonally inconsistent. For example, there's a bizarrely dark story told by one of the characters involving death and loss and Ash's genuine immediate response is "awesome!"
This is all without mentioning a particular scene in the third act that literally blew me away in how misguided it was, a scene that actually prompted my friend to ask if we could leave.
The movie is terrible. Truly, truly terrible in every conceivable way. For us, it was a fun watch that I'm sure we'll continue to reference as we have since seeing it but for an actual dedicated fan that is hoping for a good movie, just do yourself a favour and rewatch the first run at the origin story. It is better in every way. Despite finding good in how bad it was, I will also note that there are large stretches of dullness between the gold - a child in our screen started running around in circles at one point because it must've seemed a more entertaining way to spend his time.
@DiscoGentleman thank you very much, my man. Greatly appreciate a response from somebody talking to me like a fellow person & taking the time to tell me they appreciate my points!
Here's to March 3rd, eh, and whatever joy and issues it may bring!
@gcunit ooh, you almost entirely avoided the sarcasm there... had to start your comment with a scathing little remark but a good effort overall.
Sorry if I seem a little patronising, just reflecting your tone, seems the only way to participate in 'lively discussion' is by making yourself feel much bigger than the person you're talking down to.
By 'handling this issue', I obviously didn't mean physically sorting out Nintendo's potentially fatal error, but instead I was referring to your behaviour and attitude towards the situation.
You are acting entitled - speaking as if you know something everyone else doesn't, as if you're the voice of reason when everyone else is being crazy. You see, I don't need you to preface everything with 'in my opinion', but instead the way you put your points across could use some work: 'The only game I can see this impacting at the moment is 1-2-Switch, which is no real loss to anyone anyway'. A quick translation of that quote: 'This won't be an issue because it's a game that I don't care about and therefore nobody cares about'.
As for the 'just return your console if it's faulty' I'll just skim over that because I'm sure you can see for yourself why it's a moot point. I'm buying expensive hardware that I'm incredibly excited for, that I've been waiting literally years for. But hey, if it's broken I'll just take it back and move on.
To be quite honest, I'm tired of seeing doom and gloom posts and comments and this issue does actually seem rather unimportant to me. I'll definitely get loads of enjoyment from the console regardless, what did annoy me and make me want to comment were your smugly contrarian and purposefully provoking comments.
Surely the fact that multiple people have noted your terrible attitude should speak volumes for itself.
@gcunit never comment on here but I had to log on to let you know that your handling of this issue is awful, especially as a mod. Being so dismissive, entitled and plain rude when there is zero need. Protect Nintendo blindly all you like but this IS a problem.
The joy con occasionally disconnecting isn't life-ending and I won't be cancelling my pre-order but if people are spending £300+, they have every right for their console to WORK AS ADVERTISED. Saying it doesn't matter is ridiculous - a broken product shouldn't be released, no matter how 'minor' the issue.
Sure, this might just be a faulty batch and a non-issue by launch but talking down to people for being worried about something worth worrying about is childish and, let's use the word again as it's apt, entitled.
Furthermore, I can see it affecting 1-2-Switch quite badly - your argument is that they would have tested that but surely they would have tested the hardware working properly full stop. I think just by pointing out your other argument that it doesn't matter because nobody wants that game is counter enough to that. Opinion doesn't equal fact.
Feel free to reply but if you're just going to make some snide, sarcastic comment, don't bother. It immediately undermines your points and wastes everyone's time reading it.
The way this is worded makes it seem like you have to play each mission solo to unlock it for co-op.. Is that the case? If so, that's an absolute deal breaker
It bothered me in the last trailer and it's bothered me again now - why don't the large rings have an animation when they disappear?! It's a small thing, sure, but it's a detail I'd expect to have had attention paid to early on in development in a game with this level of polish
@-DEMISE- I've never commented on this site but I feel I had to here just to give you credit for your comments. I read the majority of them and it seems you're the only one here with a morsel of common sense or understanding of the real world. I can understand passions being high about this but that's as far as I go... The takedown was expected, deserved and completely understandable

Copy and pasting the 'lol there are so many genders now!' joke that's served as the lowest hanging fruit since the dawning of non-binary genders really belittles whatever wit you may have.
Re: There's Trouble In Paradise As Nintendo Adds Loot Boxes To Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp
@gcunit really gutted nobody made a reference to Limmy's Show in response to your question but I guess such is the life of a fan of obscure British television
Re: Heavy FIFA 18 Switch Discount Sends The Footie Franchise to Number One in The UK Charts
Re: Movie Review: Pokémon The Movie: I Choose You!
Re: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
@Ron1212 Have you inserted the disc into your console yet?
Re: Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons Are Disconnecting, And No One Seems To Know Why
@DiscoGentleman thank you very much, my man. Greatly appreciate a response from somebody talking to me like a fellow person & taking the time to tell me they appreciate my points!
Here's to March 3rd, eh, and whatever joy and issues it may bring!
Re: Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons Are Disconnecting, And No One Seems To Know Why
Re: Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons Are Disconnecting, And No One Seems To Know Why
Re: Review: Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS)
The way this is worded makes it seem like you have to play each mission solo to unlock it for co-op.. Is that the case? If so, that's an absolute deal breaker
Re: Video: Yooka-Laylee's Gamescom 2016 Trailer Contains Transformations, New Enemies And Farting
It bothered me in the last trailer and it's bothered me again now - why don't the large rings have an animation when they disappear?! It's a small thing, sure, but it's a detail I'd expect to have had attention paid to early on in development in a game with this level of polish
Re: Nintendo Issues Takedown Notices for Impressive Fan-Made Metroid II Remake, AM2R
