Before I read the article I want to say; This game was a big part of my childhood. I still have a Nintendo 64 and a copy of the game. I got 3 stars on all the levels—even using Speed Running trick on WAR! That was such hard work that I couldn’t replicate yet on the XBLA version.
My favorite levels were the Skedar levels because of the architecture of their ship and home world. It’s felt so alien. I liked their reptile bodies too. I was a liiiiittle confused and disappointed when I found out the Skedar are actually little squid-snakes (how did they build their tech??) but it made me appreciate the little details of their bodies smoking after you shoot them.
Whoever was the level designer and artist for Skedar Ruins, Attack Ship and the Skedar multiplayer levels; you nailed the look, feel and atmosphere of those designs.
I’m glad Rare made Perfect Dark and Goldeneye. I’m glad a Rare exists/existed. Thank you for bringing me the game that defined my childhood.
Another 2D game >_< I’m sure it’s good but it’s not for me. I’m burned out on pixel games. I’ll Just get Call of Cthulhu cause that one is in 3D and looks nice.
That’s great, Nintendo! Now pretty please force Valve and Activision to port their backlog. Pl...ease... I need Tony Hawk and Modern Warfare on Switch. Prototype, Portal 2, Left 4 Dead, etc. I’m tired of seeing so many 2D indies and top down games. They’re fun and all but they’re everywhere, everyday.
I’m used to it on PC so I’m glad. Digital means less boxes taking up space in my house. I prefer physical for certain games but digital is nice too. The other day I was looking at digital code cards they have for games. I wouldn’t be surprised if those became the new form of “physical collecting.”
I hope someday Nintendo lets indies and publishers remove DRM if they wish, like how Steam does. If not, and if something goes wrong with my account, I’ll find a way to remove the DRM itself. People have already made a program for that. Not sure how well it works.
I really want achievements because I’ve done some wacky stuff in games that would make cool achievements. Even iOS’s Game Center has them! (Although idk if they actually work anymore...)
Plus they somewhat push me to finish a game.
Also, I want better playtime tracker. Right down to the minutes.
Am I the only one a little upset but not surprised? I’ve grown to like playing big games portably. It’s something I’ve always wanted from the iPad but never got.
@Mountain_Man sadly yes, since some Switch games either get releases from super limited never-print-ever-again publishers, which makes future or long term availability a no-go.
So along with Signature Edition (everyone seems to forget them. They’ve been around longer than Special Reserve) that makes FIVE “Limited release” sellers for Switch.
I would be cool with this but I’m not because I can’t buy every game right away. By the time I can, the buying period is over and scalpers got to them.
I’m glad they’re doing this. I hope it leads to Perfect Dark and Halo coming to Switch.
People mention Stadia, but honestly I think people would want to own their games—even if they buy them digitally—with Stadia being a “secondary” thing. Microsoft and Nintendo should be worried but they needn’t be too worried. Never underestimate the will to own something.
I just want Nintendo’s mobile games to have an offline mode. I don’t want to play their games and then have them swiped away from me when the servers shut down. I refuse to play Dragalia Lost because it’s always-online.
Can somebody get the assets of Nintendo’s online only game and put them in an offline version of the games?
I’m mixed. I buy wherever it’s cheaper. My collection is 28+ physical, the rest digital (which is a lot as well).
To the people who keep talking about servers going down: buy a big enough SD card and copy those games to your PC. You might have to do this every time you get a new Switch. Physical isn’t too good if you want to be clutter-free as well.
I like physical due to, well, being physical! However, that feeling of holding something only lasts a moment. A lot of people act like they will be holding the game case/cartridge for hours (and when I see my games on my shelf I want to touch them all!).
My kids will be able to play my digital games in the future because I don’t delete games. I don’t sell my physical ones either (which also makes physical a moot point for me).

@Magician
@tobibra
Thanks. Does Nicalis also count?
I forgot about Fangamer. I was mostly counting the ones with “super limited never ever print again” editions.

I want Destiny to come to Switch and I’m expecting it (unlike a lot of commenters here :/ ). More people should ask them in an email.
