Re: Poll: Do You Think Switch Can Catch PS2's Total Sales Before 'Switch 2' Arrives?

@Rayquaza2510

Didn't you clicked on that link in my previous post? It shows detailed sales of PS2 for every years.

There're 3 different final numbers for PS2 on internet, 155, 156 and 158.

@jamesthemagi
I has already said in earlier posts that PS2 sold well because of its DVD-player. Despite it, only 4 games on PS2 managed to crack 10m sold copies, it just shows that many just bought PS2 solely for its DVD-player instead of its games.

PS3 a lost generation? Come again! It sold almost 90m and actually surpassed Xbox360 which everyone thought were possible for years. And PS3 has many of the best selling PS-games ever.
Ps3 just sold about 15m less than PSX in the end, which isn't that bad!

This appears to be very sensitive topic for many, since it's a post-Iwata console But the fact still remains, no matter of what everyone says the otherwise, Switch WILL 100% surpass NDS/PS2. Just wait until 2025 then.

Many people doesn't realizes that PS2 had just a bit above 100m when PS3 were released in 2005... It still co-existed along with PS3 before it stopped at 158m in 2013, same year of the launch of PS4!

It's so amazing that so many people who still stubbornly refuses to accept the fact that Switch has now +20m more sold units compared with PS2 in the same timeline... PS4 came out 4 years before Switch and is still co-existing along with PS5 which soon is 3 years old now.

Why are so many so incredibly worried about that Switch may surpassing NDS+PS2? Techs comes and goes constantly, new benchmarks and records also gets broken constantly.

Fact:
PS2: 103.5m on its 6th year anniversary
Switch: 124m on its 6th year anniversary

That's a huge difference, since Switch never got a worldwide price-cut, while PS2 were dirt cheap at that time.

Nostalgia is a drug for many, that's because many don't want to see their beloved NDS or PS2 getting surpassed then.

If Switch actually had price-cuts as usually like with other consoles, it easily had like 7m-10m another units by now then.

One more insane thing is that Switch alone has now sold +30m more than every of SEGA's consoles and handhelds combined together...

I'm both excited and worried by the day when it's officially that Switch has surpassed NDS+PS2.
The reactions will be unimaginable, unlike anything seen before in the gaming.

@GrailUK
It's both sad and scary that so many out there who're by now scared of that Switch will surpass NDS or PS2.
It took PS2 13 years to pass 158m. so Switch for now just needs just sell another 29m Switches in 7 more years to surpassing PS2, that's nothing.
Switch will easy sell 12m-15m more units until 3/3-2024, so that means that Switch just needs about 15m another units in 6 more years to surpass PS2 then.

Switch will continue to sell even when Switch 2 comes out. Like with GBA when NDS came out. I think that "Switch 2" will be released in the first half of 2025. Nintendo will surely be pushing Switch fully for the "last" time in 2024. I have a feeling that Metroid Prime 4, new Mario 3D game, a new 2D Zelda, 2-4 more surprises will be coming in 2024.

Many are also ignoring that Switch still outsells PS5 and Xbox Series in many months yet now, so why should Nintendo suddenly ditching Switch then?

Re: Here Are The Top Ten Best-Selling Nintendo Switch Games As Of June 2023

Keman

The scariest thing is that the "mighty" PS2 only had just FOUR games who sold +10m with GTA:SA as the best seller at 17.5m. While Switch has now 19 (!!!) different +10m seller.

Also no secret that many bought PS2 for just the DVD-player.

While PS4 has 7 which is the most of every PS-consoles. It's pretty bizarre and unreal that PSX has only two, and just at almost exactly 10m for both Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy 7.

Switch is actually severely outpacing PS2 by around 25m now during its 6 first years,
Don't believe me?

Check out this.

It took PS2 more than 10 years to pass 150m. The sales of PS2 declined so much already after its 5 first years, while Switch is still selling extremely well by now, and still outsells PS5 and Xbox Series for the mostly.

Switch will 100% pass NDS+PS2, no doubt.
It will have +140 or even +145 by 3/3-2024 during its 7 year anniversary, while PS2 were at "just" 117m. despite never having a price-cut! That's insane!
