Re: Soapbox: Game Reviews Always Need a Final Score

Jokaio

The problem with a score system. Is people look to numbers, more than the actual written review. I find the score system can be more problematic when discussing about games with others. The best reviews I've read or seen don't have a traditional score system. Instead, they say what they thought worked, what didn't, likes, dislikes, and features in the game, to help inform you so you can decide if you will want to buy the game or not. Which is the point of the review in the first place. To inform the consumer. Now, I'm not trying to say all reviews that use a score are in and of themselves bad. It might help someone decide whether to make a purchase or not. But, to say it is needed, I believe, is going too far.

Thanks for your opinion Alex! Have a wonderful day!

This new account system, is definitely not for me. I rarely buy digital games. So, I think the gold points would be to hard to get for me. And I am not fond of ios apps or games. So, I'm not interested in Miitomo. And I don't like systems that try to get you to sign in for consistently for rewards. So, Platinum points are out for me too. I can't say I'm all that disappointed. I wasn't expecting much. But, I will not be joining now. Like I said in the beginning, this is just not for me.

@Xenocity

Going off of games published by Nintendo for North America. The N64 sits around 55, the NGC sits at about 60, while the Wii U stands about 35. That's discounting digital games, which if you bring them in, would bring it up to about 50. And one of those includes Twilight Princess HD, which came out today I think.

Maybe it's just me. But, have the last Directs felt flat to anyone else? They haven't really announced any big games since before last E3. Which was almost nine months ago now. Not saying the games they showed now are going to be bad. But, they don't look that impressive to me. The biggest thing they have announced recently was Pokemon. And we didn't even really get to see the game. There was no footage, only a couple of screens that don't tell us much. What I really want to know is, what are they actually making? What have they been doing all this time? The mentioned Pikmin 4 briefly, and said it was almost completed. If that's the case, then were is it? If it got stuck in development then I am fine with that. But, if they are waiting to put it on the NX, then I got a problem. Because there are a lack of games on the Wii U. And if they are holding back games from the Wii U. What's going to stop them from doing the same to the NX if that sells badly? I have been a Nintendo fan since I was little, I have always enjoyed their games. But, they are starting to loose my trust. And that's really hard to bounce back from.

Anyways that just my two cents.
