It took me awhile to understand why the game felt so familiar and then it hit me. This game feels just like Final Fantasy Explorers on the Nintendo 3DS. This has to be using some kind of modified engine of that game. It's too similar not to be.
My very first game was Link's Awakening DX on the Game Boy Color. I only got it by chance because my parents bought me a random Sam's Club bundle that came with a Purple Game Boy Color, Pokemon Yellow Version and Link's Awakening DX for my birthday when I was in 5th grade. I instantly fell in love with it.
It's always frustrating to see a game with so much potential get held back with technical issues and lackluster visuals. With how much time this game had, it should have ended up better than this. Still looks worth playing, but I'll wait on a sale.
I would like to see the original 6 Dragon Quest games done in this style. I think it works well with the legacy of those games, and I know we're already getting a remake of DQIII, oddly enough. Would love to really see DQV specifically.
I don't think Cloud gaming is something I will ever get behind in my lifetime. The potential is there, but I think we're still quite a few decades away from it really being a viable option for gaming.
I almost always have Dire Dire Docks playing in my office while I work on anything. Not necessarily for 10 hours, but I have had it play for nearly 6 hours some days. Always teleports me back to my childhood.
@sanderev I'd argue that these articles are putting a big spotlight on something that would cause the company to see and implement a C&D that much faster. Typically, coverage on these subjects can speed up the process as it becomes more time sensitive with the company trying to protect their IP from more people learning of the illegal subject matter.
Regardless if Nintendo Life covers it or not, it still exists, and the people that are interested in it WILL get the information they need to acquire what it is they are looking for.
I am genuinely saddened by the entire state of this game and everyone that worked on it. I think this was a passion project made with nostalgia in mind, but core concepts were so dated and unpolished that I'm surprised it wasn't cancelled by the publisher in mid-development. They probably won't even make 20% of development costs back from this.
I saw this coming but honestly, reviewing an NES game in 2020 is just a very difficult thing to do. So, I'll undermine this review a little and say that if you are still actively enjoying the NES/Famicom library, this is one of the best and most ambitious titles it had to offer.
I wasn't aware this was a franchise and thought it looked like something I would be interested in from the screenshots. Thank you for saving me time and money from this one!
Wonderful collection of my favorite games growing up! Thank you for the glowing review and really hoping more people really give these games a chance! The price has dropped quite often and I highly recommend giving them a shot!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 24th)
I'll be doing a playthrough of Legend of Mana for the holidays. It's a memorable Christmas gift from my childhood.
Also be playing Mario Strikers: Battle League and Pokémon Scarlet since I got them for my birthday last month!
Happy Holidays everyone!

Re: New Animal Crossing Build-A-Bear Character Arriving This Summer
I would love to see Dodo Airlines: Orville and Wilbur myself. Of course, I'd also die if Roscoe were to ever be available.
But this new character will 1000% be K.K. Slider.
