One of the games we've had an eye on for a while now is a game that we don't know anything about. Japanese studio Grezzo, known for their remakes of Majora's Mask, Ocarina of Time, and Link's Awakening, are working on something new and very secretive — the only information we currently have is that it's "medieval" and "stylish", which doesn't give us much to go on.
It seems like they updated their careers site in April, though, with two new roles: A "battle planner" and a designer. From these two job descriptions, we can find out a little bit more about the game (note: translations are from Google Translate, so take them with a pinch of salt):
- "The expression is not photoreal, but a "design" of real elements"
- It's being made in Unity
- It's a 3D game
- It's an action game
- There will be bosses
- There will be combat
We also have this header image, which could be concept art:
So far, it sounds a lot like... a video game.
But we still do have some more vague clues to go on. Although Grezzo's past work has largely been as an out-of-house Nintendo remake specialist, perhaps their most well-known original game is Ever Oasis, an action-adventure RPG for the 3DS. Grezzo CEO Koichi Ishii was also the creator of the Mana series of games, as well as having various roles on many of the early Final Fantasy games — so it seems likely that Grezzo is heading back into the action-adventure RPG genre, since that's what they do best.
What do you think the game will be? What would you like it to be? Tell us in the comments!

Man there's a lot of smoke this week! Hoping a Direct is nearby!
That would be pretty sweet. I really enjoyed trials of mana and FF adventure.
Really hoping for an Ever Oasis sequel.
It came out late on the 3DS, so I think a lot of people missed it, but it was a lot of fun, sort of a cross between Zelda, Monster Hunter & Town Building with a super positive vibe. Great game!
I wonder if this is the same "medieval" "stylish" game Grezzo mentioned was in development last year or a second project?
@Axecon If there was still an E3, it would be next week...
Consider me very interested, if Grezzo's track record is anything to go by. All their Zelda remakes ranged from great to amazing, and Ever Oasis (with some polishing) has the potential to become a decent series. I feel like it would've done better than it did if it wasn't released the same year the Switch launched.
It would be great to see them do something original rather than a remake/port for once. I loved the Switch versions of Link's Awakening and Miitopia so I would be more than interested in what they have cooking up.
@Magician I believe that was related to the Miitopia Switch port but I could be wrong on that front.
I gotta replay Ever Oasis again, such a lovely 3DS gem.
Will keep an eye on Grezzo's new project of course.
Ever Oasis sequel on Switch would make me very happy.
So a Mana game and a Xenoblade game? You know how to say the right stuff Kate.
I keep hoping they'll discount or rerelease the original Ever Oasis... I always had a hard time paying $40 for 3DS games.
Could be a kid icarus game maybe? If i look at the picture that comes to mind.
Maybe Grezzo is bringing the Golden Sun series back. It could be a remake/reimagining, or be a new game in the series. Sounds like a good fit if Camelot isn't going to do it.
I love these kinds of articles, because every so often I find myself checking the Games Developed timelines on each of Nintendo's subsidiaries and second-party studios to make an educated guess about when we'll see something. But y'all are doing my homework for me! haha
Grezzo next game is a remake of Oracle of Age/Season or a brand new 2D Legend of Zelda.
It’s gotta be a sequel called Ever Oasis: Mirage of the Darkness!
@Magician
It's the same one, it's even the same page with '2021' in the title.
NL even had a real translation last year: 'It won’t be photorealistic, but takes elements from reality and puts a design twist on them.'
But this time they're google-translating the same text: '"The expression is not photoreal, but a "design" of real elements"'
EverOasis sequel would be awesome, but their description doesn't sound like it.
Probably a new IP.
if it is less of a grind than ever oasis, then count me in
I'd love a game with the jrpg art and gameplay like baldurs gate dark alliance.
I would be ecstatic about ANYTHING similar to the Mana series coming from Grezzo. I loved Ever Oasis so much!
@Half-ShellHero was that turn based? If so, I'd be interested in that.
@twztid13 Yessir. I recommend checking out the official ports on the WiiU. If you don't have that option, then I recommend checking out the GBA and DS roms on your favorite emulators.
@Half-ShellHero ok, sweet, thanks. I was thinking i had heard they were. I would love that, then. I don't have a Wii u, so I'll do my best to check those older games out somehow.
I'm banking on it being Zelda considering Links Awakening Sales. Either they're making another remake or I hope a brand new 2d game. Maybe they gained some experience from Links Awakening like Mercury steam did with Samus returns to make Metroid Dread.
