The issue is that the Wii U will be taken offline in less than 10 years.
So when the Wii U is a retro system, like the N64, SNES, and even Gamecube these days. It will be impossible for 'newly' (obviously they'd be preowned) purchased consoles to get access to any DLC content.
I feel it does make the original game incomplete. If it's possible to have less content for the game than someone else, then that copy of the game is incomplete. Thats how I define it anyway.
I didn't even realise there was any Resident Evil Revelations dlc. I'm going to agree that dlc cut from a game is worse than newly developed content. But I don't like either.
Thank you for being conversational about it though, rather than just insulting me. Makes things much easier.
I never speculated when this content was developed. I've no idea. Could be during main development or post. I just stated that someone claiming it was done post game couldn't know that.
I'm genuinely surprised so few people have a problem with it to be honest.
Somebody else above suggested I quit gaming if I can't cope with dlc. That's looking quite likely to be honest. I don't see seem to be cut out for gaming in the current generation. Everythings gone horribly wrong.
Nothing I can do about it. Everybody else seems to like it. It's not going to stop if that's the case.
I want to pay one price for my games, once, and having access to that entire game. You know, the way we've done it since games began.
How will we play these courses in 10+ years when the Wii U is taken offline? You might say "nintendo will release a complete edition". True, they might. But they also might not. And the complete edition should've just been the standard game anyway.
I can't understand how nobody else objects to dlc on the grounds that most of this content will be unplayable once these consoles are taken offline.
I'm less concerned with games that aren't important.
NSMB2. This did annoy me. But the stages were coin rush only. If they released extra worlds, I'd be livid.
Mario Golf. Not an important game. I don't care.
Fire Emblem. I haven't played, so I don't know what's going on there.
I don't like them doing dlc of any kind. But I don't care too much when the games involved are just things like Mario Golf. If they're just going to stick to Mario's sports spin-offs, then fine, ruin those games, I don't care.
But if dlc starts creeping into smash bros, metroid, zelda (proper zeldas, not hyrule warriors), starfox or mario platformers. There's going to be a problem.
And it especially would be in this case if a veteran like the Ice Climbers were held back. There is no need for content to keep coming. Because the game will already be packed with enough content. And there are hundreds of other games worth playing in between the launches of smash bros games.
Nintendo has Amiibo to make money long term on smash this time. And that's a much better idea than fragmenting the userbase of a game.
The day Nintendo starts copying the way other publishers do dlc is going to be a terrible terrible day. And I really hope it isn't going to start with smash bros.
Just release the game complete and leave it alone.
How will we play the game with all it's content in 10+ years time when the Wii U is taken offline? To which you might say "they'll release a complete edition". But that's what the original release should be in the first place!
I don't remember Sakurai saying that, but I'll take your word for it. And if the leaker is lying too, that's even better.
I will be disappointed if Ice Climbers aren't in though. I never played as them. But they were just nice to be there. But I'd rather them not be in than them be dlc if the choice must be made.
You'd think I'd know he was in there. But I have the games as part of a Sonic Mega Bundle that was part of the Humble Store or a Steam Sale or something. Got every Sonic game in existence.
I haven't played Sonic Adventure since the original Dreamcast version. And I'm quite sure he wasn't in that.
And I haven't played Sonic 4 Episode 2 because Episode 1 was so bad.
The original headphone jack on the gameboy is noisey. If you plug headphones in and turn the volume up, you will hear a hiss/buzz. This is because the sound goes from the soundchip through the entire circuit board to reach the headphone jack. This creates noise.
The prosound mod adds a second headphone jack, usually in the bottom left corner of the gameboy, with wires soldered directly to the sound chip. This removes the hiss.
Will Nintendolife be getting any more DMGs from Shaun? Or any more mods done to the one in the video?
I'd quite like to see what the silicone buttons are like. Get some opinions on them.
And I'd like to see some other backlight colours, preferably white and blue when they're biverted. One of my DMGs has a backlight that seems a bit dodgy. Would like to compare.
I think Europe is getting discs too. But we might have to pay extra for Bayonetta 1. Thats what I heard.
We'll have the standard Bayonetta 2. And we'll have a special edition that includes Bayonetta 1 on a seperate disc. No prices confirmed, but I'd imagine the special edition would cost more.
At one point I heard NA was getting Bayonetta 1 free with every copy of Bayonetta 2. Japan was getting Bayonetta 1 as an eShop download for a discounted price. And Europe was getting a special edition (presumably at extra cost). But the last I heard was that all regions are getting a two disc set.
I don't know if they're costing themselves preorders. People who want Bayonetta 2 are going to get Bayonetta 2 regardless. But it does make them look ridiculously incompetent.
I'll be getting the game no matter what. And I'll be getting the version that comes with Bayonetta 1. However the hell I have to do it.
I find it weird how graphically impressive The Imprisoned is compared to the rest of the game.
The Direct today was pretty good. Nice to know how Adventure mode works. And confirmation of the playable villains was awesome.
I hope there are tons more stages though. I don't know how Dynasty Warriors games usually are with stages, but this game definitely needs many more than it currently has announced.
We do need to know what the online mode will be though. If only to shut everybody up complaining about it.
It does have an online mode though. Might not be coop but it has something. Maybe it's versus.
I hope they announce loads of villians playable in the Direct, then the online mode could be heroes vs villians.
Plus, there were stories circulating recently that said it did have online coop. Nobody seems to know. This is the Bayonetta/Bayonetta 2 fiasco all over again.
PS4 popularity is entirely down to its cheaper price than the xbox one and microsofts attempts to screw up the xbox one as much as humanly possible.
Wii owners that were gamers, have a Wii U, maybe a PS4 as well because they probably had a PS3 last generation too. The casual Wii owners, are on tablets now.
Nobody has gone from owning just a Wii to owning just a PS4.
What they're seeing is not an audience that missed out on these games last generation. It's gamers so desperate for anything to play on their PS4 systems, they're willing to buy remastered PS3 games again. Because if they didn't do that, the PS4 has a whole 2 games. Infamous and Watch Dogs. And Watch Dogs isn't even exclusive.
Development on new hardware is more expensive and taking longer than expected, so they're remastering old stuff to fill the time. Like Nintendo did with Wind Waker HD.

Yes. That is my opinion.
Re: Mario Kart 8 DLC Coming In November, Features Zelda, F-Zero And Animal Crossing
@Various
I'm sorry, there are too many comments to reply to now. But all your questions and arguments have been answered in other comments.
My objections mainly boil down to wanting the game to be complete and the uncertainty of the availability of the dlc in the long term.
I can't really explain more than that. So please do stop insulting me.
Re: Mario Kart 8 DLC Coming In November, Features Zelda, F-Zero And Animal Crossing
@Crimzonlogic
No.
By my definition, every game ever released, that doesn't have DLC, is complete.

@Coldpancakes
And when you buy a Wii U 10+ years from now, from the "Retro" section of the game store?
How will you get the DLC then?
Much like you can buy N64's now. The Wii U will be retro one day. And people will buy it. And they will not be able to access any DLC for it.

No.
Remember all those millions of games released to date that don't have dlc? Those are complete games. And their development time was not 426 years.
Stop being ridiculous. Why are you arguing with me anyway? We're not going to agree.
Re: Mario Kart 8 DLC Coming In November, Features Zelda And F-Zero Content

Then it's not complete is it.
You can't add to something that is complete. That is the definition of "complete".
Re: Mario Kart 8 DLC Coming In November, Features Zelda And F-Zero Content

You have no proof of this contents development schedule.
Yes, I'd rather there was no extra content at all.
A game should be released complete.
Re: Mario Kart 8 DLC Coming In November, Features Zelda And F-Zero Content

I don't like DLC.
It's that simple.

Don't do it Nintendo. Please.
Re: Mario Kart 8 Passes One Million US Sales as Wii U Shows Improved Momentum
@IceClimbers
Life to date for the US.
Re: Mario Kart 8 Passes One Million US Sales as Wii U Shows Improved Momentum
I'm really hoping Amiibo will be a huge success. It's pretty much the last chance for the Wii U.
I love the system, it's fantastic. With an amazing library of games with a frankly stunning lineup coming up.
But the hardware sales just aren't going to improve any more, not unless Amiibo can do it.
Re: Mario Kart 8 Passes One Million US Sales as Wii U Shows Improved Momentum
"the system's hardware sales are up 60%, while hardware is up 135%"
One of those must be software surely?
Re: Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric Set to Add "Two Fan Favourite Characters"

The physics were just all wrong in Episode 1.
But I'll give Episode 2 a try if I can play as Metal Sonic.
Re: Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric Set to Add "Two Fan Favourite Characters"
@Luigifan141
He is my main character in All Stars Racing Transformed.
But I meant I wanted to play as him in a traditional Sonic platformer. Not spin off series like racing games.

Playable Metal Sonic?
It's all I've ever wanted since his first appearance.
Re: RCMADIAX Reveals SPIKEY WALLS for Wii U, a Block Capitals Flappy Bird Clone
I'm impressed at how quickly he can pump out games via the Nintendo Web Framework. Even if the games are hit and miss.

Not interested in this one.

It is divulged in the video description. This is the PC version running at maximum settings on a fairly powerful rig:
CPU : Intel® Core™ i7-4790K @ 4.4GHz
Graphic Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SC ACX 3GB GDDR5
RAM : 16GB G.Skill Trident X DDR3 2400

Prosound is for chiptune muscians.
It also offers slight improvement to the bass.
The silver headphone jacks on these gameboys are prosound mods: https://i.imgur.com/1EjrGwW.jpg

I don't think we have a definitive answer.
Every time Nintendo tries to clarify the situation, they just make it worse.
Last I heard, all regions are getting Bayonetta 1 on a seperate disc with Bayonetta 2.
But I'm probably wrong. There's probably been 3 or 4 announcements since then 'clarifying' the situation.
