Re: Nintendo Still Seeking a Product to Define the GamePad, With Hopes of Sales Driving Third-Party Support

@Rafie That's so awesome. Always nice to meet new people who are also interested in fighters as much as I am. I played all of them and loved them all. I tried getting into KOF but the netcode was terrible so I had to skip out on that sadly. The main fighting game I play is SSF4 AE but I'm waiting for Ultra to come out to get back into it. Do you play on pad or Arcade Stick?

@Ben_Rage_V2 My original argument was about cost AND convenience. Since you proved me wrong on the misconception of the cost of PC gaming I left it alone because there was nothing more to argue. What I said about Third party titles was just me telling you why I wouldn't get it, but again you proved me wrong. I wasn't arguing per se but was just trying to have a conversation for the sake of it.

@Rafie I understand preference, but he acts as if Sony and Microsoft threw sand into his face. That kind of Fanboyism is the reason why I don't talk about games as much as I used to. It's annoying.

Everyone who owns a Wii U says it's great and I believe it. When a few more games that appeal to me come out for it I will definitely pick one up down the line.

P.S: Dude I saw you on the comment section of a random KOF XIII video, lol. You into fighters?

@Ben_Rage_V2 Well I guess I stand corrected about the convenience, and I won't argue the fact that PC's out preform consoles, that's known by everyone. The reason why I will never go to PC though, is because some developers are shaky when it comes to supporting it. Sometimes third party titles won't even go to PC, and some take forever to even get ported. MK9 was recently ported over to PC when the game has been out for years, SFxT got an update patch for pc like 8 months after its console counterpart, and GTA 5 is still in question if it's even going to PC at all. At least with consoles I know for a fact I'll be getting steady third party support along with good exclusives of my choice.

@Senario Haha now I see where you are coming from. Truth be told that can be very annoying. Although I do believe that they allow you to manage your notifications on the XB1; not so sure about the PS4 though. Back when the 360 first came out, you could purchase stuff off of XBL with your gamerscore, which increased whenever you got an achievement. As for trophies, Sony has something like an Auction where you can get stuff with Platinum Trophies acting like Currency. So it's more than just some set of words.

Nintendo adding something like this would be fun. Even if they don't let you buy stuff with the points you've earned. It's just always nice to play for something extra. So this just goes back to my original question. Why not add them? Unlockables will still be there, plus this will give players something to do after they have unlocked everything.

@mcusc5435 You and me both. We can only wait and see what they do with it. But thanks, lol. I'm just a fan of gaming in general so I try to be fair whenever something like this pops up.

@MysticX Maybe you're right. I don't recall anyone complaining about controllers as long as it was comfortable to hold and had good buttons. I mean unless you play fighters, shooters, and sometimes racers, nobody cared about the actual control.

Re: Nintendo's Slump "Could Be Detrimental" To The Entire Gaming Market, Says Sony UK Boss

@Funny_Moblin

They won't get it because Nintendo games don't appeal to them. That probably isn't the case with everyone but I'm sure it plays a roll. I'm not saying Nintendo games are bad, it's just the whole thing about them appealing to kids and being family oriented. It's known that people say "Nintendo games are for kids and babies" so, many people don't really give the games a try no matter how fun they are. I remember one time I was talking with someone and we were joking around about games, consoles and stuff, I said something about getting a Wii U because of Smash and X, he said "man get out of here with that little kid Sh*t lmao". It's the way how Nintendo market themselves that push some people away. I do admit though, most Nintendo games don't appeal to me either because of this. Except for Metroid, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, and Zelda.

@B3ND3R I don't know. I think Sony is doing all right. The Vita just had a huge sales increase in Japan and is continuing to rise up through the charts. The Vita lineup for this year is also looking good, with a lot of games yet to be revealed so it might pick up some momentum in the West too. PS4 is breaking records and their good games haven't even been coming out yet and it still hasn't been released in Japan. I don't know how Microsoft is doing but XB1 seems to be selling units as well. I would say Nintendo is struggling but that isn't true because the 3ds sales are excep7ional. As for the Wii U, I think it's on the same boat as the Vita. Nintendo has a chance to turn this around, they just need to play their cards right.

Re: Nintendo Is Here To Stay And Will Do Very Well This Year, States Amazon UK Games Boss

@Senario I agree with what you said about the IP's but I disagree with theTrophy/achievement part. I think they are awesome and give you a whole new reason for playing a game. Plus it feels awesome when you finally Platinum a good game or get all of the achievements. Adding a reward system like that wouldn't hurt Nintendo at all, so why not add it? Of course you don't have to get them if you don't want to, but others might like it. I was planning on buying Starfox 3d the other day, but I heard the game was short and had no online. There is no way I'm spending money on a short game like that unless it had something to keep me going back. It's a really great system.

@mcusc5435 I know what you mean. I was skeptical about the gamepad at first but I think Nintendo could pull some really cool things with it. I won't judge it just yet because I haven't tried it myself but I know I wouldn't mind using it. But right now, Nintendo just isn't doing much with it which is why it's getting a bad rep. It just seems like the only thing it's good for is letting someone else watch TV while still being able to play a game.

I would cry tears of happiness if an open world 3D Donkey Kong game came out. Donkey Kong 64 is one of my favorite games of all time so I would love to play something similar to it on the Wii U, or even the 3ds. I don't care what system. As for Jak and Daxter, I loved that game to death. My very first ps2 game. I still haven't played Jak 2 or 3 yet so I still need to play those. I just wish the Vita port wasn't such a mess.

The thing is, nobody wants to pay and arm and a leg for a pc. They are expensive as Tartarus. I won't lie, people do care about Specs and all of that stuff but why would they spend $1000+ on a PC when they can get a console that still looks gorgeous graphically and is still powerful for a much lower price? Not to mention not all third party games get released on PC so despite paying that much money on a powerful PC I still won't be able to play certain games. Consoles are more convenient.

I also understand you are Nintendo fan, but you undermine the PS4 greatly. Ps4 added in some nice features that weren't on Ps3. Streaming, game sharing (though I don't know much about this, I don't have a ps4 so...) not to mention a better Remote play with Vita connectivity which may not be as efficient as the gamepad, but people still enjoy it nonetheless.

I want a Wii U, but at the same time I don't. I think the Gamepad is a great idea and I would love to play while using one but there aren't any games besides Smash Bros (barely) Zelda, and X that I even look forward to. I just don't like the childish nature of their games (no offence). If they came back out with a new Metroid, and an account system along with something Similar to trophies/achievements I would buy the Wii U as soon as the opportunity arose.

Zero Escape is an absolutely amazing game. This was my very first visual novel and I have to say that I was very impressed. I played this game for hours and hours on my Vita till it died, charged it up and continued for hours and hours more. Do yourself a favor and pick this game up, especially at this price.

If Capcom were to be purchased by Nintendo, that would be tragic for me. Honestly, the only kind of games I care about from Capcom at this point are their Fighting games as that's my favorite genre in general. Seeing them make only Fighters for Nintendo consoles would be a huge blow to the Fighting game community. Capcom made an awesome game for Nintendo called Tatusnoko vs Capcom, and people literally loved it. The mechanics were awesome and it was one of the most balanced games at that time, but nobody played it and the competitive scene died almost instantly because nobody wanted the Wii. Capcom is best Multiplat anyway.

Shooters bomb in Japan because it doesn't appeal to them. Much like JRPG's don't appeal to the people in the West. Like I said in my earlier post, Japan and the U.S have two very different taste in gaming. I wouldn't say the West have a lack of variety because other genre's get a lot of play too, but it's just that everyone else are more diverse. I guess you can blame Bungie for the success of shooters. Socom 1 & 2 were the most popular games being played online back in the Ps2 days, and Halo revolutionized the genre in a whole. People loved Halo 2 in the West because the Multiplayer was so fantastic. Then that's when tournaments started to grow. Esports helped it grow even more because of the tournament hype and money pay outs. A lot of shooters had this before Halo, but Halo had a certain charm to it.

I'm not going to lie, when I saw Destiny, I had a major nerdgasm. I was looking at the" 9 reasons why we're hyped for Destiny" video on IGN and I see a lot more than just an generic space marine shooter. It's like an MMO with a lot to explore, the character designs look cool, the customization is going to be amazing, the gameplay looks promising, etc. On top of that, it's being made by Bungie, the people responsible for revolutionizing the genre and taking it to places people never thought it was going to go. Plus, its setting is in outer space. I'm a sucker for Sci-fi mixed with mythical elements so I want to explore every single thing and place in this game with my friends and have an epic adventure. Also, anything can happen anytime (literally. You could be walking and out of nowhere a fleet of ships could warp right in front of you, the game will be very dynamic.) It's getting a lot of hype because of all of the things I stated. Bungie is also innovative, so the fps might get a breath of fresh air when the game comes out like all of the fans hoped for.

I'm looking forward for TitanFall too, because it's being made by the people who made the first Modern Warfare (regarded the best in the series by literally every COD fan). The reason why people buy COD now is because they foolishly think that it will be like the first Modern Warfare, so they go out and buy it, get frustrated and trade it back in, etc. I like TitanFall but I'm looking forward to Destiny a whole lot more.

All in all though, shooters are popular, but I say MOBA's and MMO's blow it out the water. Hell the most played game right now is League of Legends, and pretty soon everyone will be jumping on that new Wild Star game. I do agree with you though, developers are looking for that Bungie/COD success so they will keep coming out with shooters, so it's getting really stale. One of the reasons why I stopped playing shooters for a while.

I don't think Sony will give up on the Vita, not just yet anyway. The Vita bundled Ps4 package seems like a nice deal so that might make the sales go up. Not to mention the remote play function is getting high praise from the people that experienced it, so that will probably help it grow.

@DES-M-8

I agree with this. Nintendo is successful, but if they actually abandon that "we are doing our own thing" mentality and get into competition, I believe they would be doing much better in the Home Console race. I always like Nintendo Consoles, but the lack of 3rd party support always made me stray away from picking them up. They need to change that.

Re: Matters Of Import: Shining Force Feather

Yeah I can see where you're coming from. The Japanese developers cater to what the Japanese audience likes, which is what you said: Colorful, fantasy like settings, and sometimes over the top content. Things like that don't really appeal to the west because it's a completely different demographic and vice versa (Which is why the Xbox is doing poorly in Japan.)

My forte is fighting games, so I know this to be true. Games like Blazblue, Guilty Gear, and Persona 4 Arena are doing horribly in the fighting game scene in the West because of their design (Skinny guys, little girls that can fight aka loli characters, and things like that.) Although they are great fighting games, nobody over here will give them a chance which sucks. When it all boils down though, it's all about preference. Two completely different styles, but both very fun and rewarding. Subjectively speaking, of course.

Also, thanks lol. Yeah it's Guts. One of my favorite anime Characters.

Don't forget fighting games, sports games, shooters, shooters , western RPG's, MMO's, shooters, Adventure games, shooters, and MOBA's, Action games.

Did I mention shooters? Can't hate on it man. Shooters are fun, there is a reason why the genre has such a big following. Lol

Seriously though, I don't think Games like this make it out west because of the Aesthetics. It's too "Japanese" for some people. Someone might take one look at this game and think "LMAO only weeaboos play crap like this". It's a shame, because a lot of good games get looked over, but hey it is what it is.

I remember when this was announced to be a NIntendo exclusive. Oh man people raged so hard, lol I thought it was funny. Being mostly a Sony/Microsoft guy at that time, I didn't really care because I never played the game. So it was all good. Maybe I'll get a Wii U, for this, Smash Bros, Zelda, X, a new Metroid and Tropical freeze, but that won't be for a long while.

I'm going to tell you straight up, I don't give a damn what anyone thinks about me or what I play and I'm sure other Sony, and Microsoft (at least the ones I know) feel the same way. Yes there are sheep in the gaming community, everyone knows that, but those "sheep" aren't exclusive to Microsoft and Sony, like you say. Plenty of Sheep in Nintendo's garden as well. What I'm trying to say is, I don't get this whole "Dudebro" thing. Yes, it is equivalent to calling Nintendo fans "Kiddies" or "Babies" because you are putting a label on someone who enjoy a specific type of game. You guys throw that term around loosely. It was originally used for people who play Call of Duty, but now it seems it gets slapped on anyone who doesn't play anything Nintendo.

@JaxonH
Yes, I admit calling someone a baby or little kid because of their choice of gaming is childish and I don't like that either but, It just seems when someone uses that term (on this site especially), it is used to mock people for their gaming preference which, in my eyes, is offensive. I, personally don't care if someone were to call me a dudebro. I'm a fan of all types of games. I get my money's worth and I'm not missing out on a single thing. I just can't stand the double standard.

Ugh, here we go with this "Dudebro" term again...

It's the equivalent to calling Nintendo gamers/fans: Kids, little children or babies. It's just stupid. Are you seriously saying people who don't play Nintendo games or are apart of the community are less intelligent than people who do? You are really judging people who don't play the games that you like? Come on man. I really do hope you aren't serious.

As of late, people on this site have been straight up crapping on the other consoles just because.

@CaptainCharlie

Thanks for clearing that up. I have seen that term on a couple of websites but people usually use it to describe people who only play Call of Duty. When I came to this site, it gets thrown around a lot even when Call of Duty isn't even mentioned so that confused me. TruenoGT, I see what you are saying, but I just think it's stupid to put a label on people who like to play certain type of games and criticize them for it. I mean isn't that the same exact thing as calling people who play Nintendo games "Babies" or "little kids"?

In my opinion, shooters are fun. Especially when you get good online, it just feels rewarding. It's sort of hard to be innovative with shooters, FPS's especially since they will always be FPS's at the core. You can only go so far trying to innovate something like that, same goes for sports games.

Titanfall seems to be going in the right direction though. Implementing Giant Mechs and Parkour like movement with jet packs seems awesome. Not to mention it's being made by the people who made the first Modern Warfare; The game that made COD as famous as it is today. Destiny looks promising as well. With the direction they seem to be going, it seems that I will be putting countless hours into that game easy.

I will admit though, developers have been getting lazy. The last few shooters that came out have been bad. Halo got boring ever since Bungie left, COD is nothing more but a rage fest, Battlefield is fun with it's hectic objective matches and gigantic team battles, but other than that? meh. Gears of War just turned into crap etc.
