Re: Sega Dreamcast, Saturn And Mega Drive Hardware Coming From Retro-Bit in 2018

Sorry but I can't believe how bad of a "news story" this is, and how misleading it is. Specially from this site.... The ACTUAL press release is only about "console accessories" and the first ones are controllers for each console.... No where have they stated that they will be making "mini" consoles of any of these systems....While that might be the case, it's far from confirmed....

Re: Out Today: WWE 2K18 Spears Its Way Onto Nintendo Switch

You guys really need to grow up and got a lot to learn. Carts cost a ton of money compared to discs, and 32GB ones by far cost the most. 2k is releasing a game on a system that has a total world wide install base of far less than current number of players in many online shooters, not to mention the other consoles. They ported the FULL game over too, with every feature intact. That being said there are some huge frame rate issues, but if like NBA 2k, they patch them and fix it a good bit, this really is quite amazing. No one should bashing them for not wanting to up the risks even more by using a 32gb cart.

If anyone here wants to blame someone, it should be Nintendo for only making a console with less than 32 gigs of internal storage, that is who is at fault here, not the developers. Yes you have to download a decent amount, but again, thank Nintendo for using a media format that is costly and cuts into the devs profits. If they can fix the frame rate in this, it will be an amazing achievement that they even got the full game over and looking good, with all content intact.

I don't believe this is a "day one patch", I think it's a "download to fully install" the game.....The patch isn't there to "fix" things, it's there to actually finish installing the game. It appears, like NBA 2k, that they went with a smaller cart to save money, and require a download to install all of the features. It's pretty clear when he boots it up, as the only mode available is "play", and you couldn't even access the options... Shadows, entrances, more sounds/commentary etc should all be added/improved greatly from this. As well as all of the options and features....Would be nice if more people here could actually "read" though, as all of the comments on how "unfinished" the game appears seemed to miss the point of the massive online install required for this to fully work.....

Re: Random: Here's Why SNES Shooter Phalanx Had That Weird Banjo Guy On Its Cover

Er0ck

This article explains it perfectly fine, sorry you apparently need someone to hand connect the dots for you but it's pretty easy to grasp.

The whole reason they used a guy with a banjo was to create a "wtf moment" that was completely random from the sci-fi game. There was nothing really important about it being a guy with a banjo, just that it fit what they were trying to do....Which was find something completely off the wall and not related to the game it self. They probably could have used any number of a 1000 different ideas to create the same result, they just picked this one probably mostly by chance.

And btw, this wasn't an "average" 2d shooter, Phalanx actually was an amazing game. It had great graphics, great levels and boss fights, and it was a blast to play. I actually find it sad that the marketing guys state "we knew the game didn't have a lot to offer", but of course this is coming from people who didn't play games at all. As far as 2d space shooters go, at that time, or even now, that is one of the best. There was nothing "average" about any aspect of it.

Re: Reggie on Backing Up Your Saves with the Switch

@Jokerwolf

You do realize they already allow you to back up saved games to a sd card on 3ds right? It has NOTHING to do with that, they just released a product that was no where near done. It's amazing and I completely love the damn thing, but this is a simple simple simple simple feature from both a tech standpoint and a software standpoint to add. No excuses or free passes here!

Re: Reggie on Backing Up Your Saves with the Switch

"Because of the type of platform we have — it’s something that is on the go as well as connected in the home environment — there are some added complications. It’s not as simple as a piece of hardware that never moves and is always connected in an online environment."

What complete PR BULL S**T!!! And a complete LIE from a technical standpoint too. Lol yeah because having a "portable system" some how matters when uploading a saved game to the cloud.....Or holy cow, allowing us to pop in a micro sd card save them to, then back them up on are own computer!!!

I love how his responses are always like they are inventing something for the very first time, breaking new ground with their new "magic voodoo box" so stuff like this just isn't easy to do! Give me a break, your 6 year old Nintendo DS allows for the backing up of saved data and its ALWAYS mobile.....So sick of the standard Nintendo bs on BASIC features that should have been there at launch.

Re: Video: Gear.Club Unlimited Gets New Trailer And Altered Release Date

Er0ck

Game looks like a total retro through back to the classic Need 4 Speed games of PSX and PS2 which I am totally for. It's got 200 tracks, 400 + events, a cool car customizing shop, the only thing it's lacking is number of cars, only has around 30, hopefully some more will be added via DLC.

People need to understand the difference between the mobile game and this. In the mobile, which many people loved, you had to spend a lot of money to really unlock things. For $40 bucks you get the whole game open from the start, with no more money required, you know, like a REAL game. So for any one to ask "why is the mobile free and not this", you really have no clue what your talking about, as the mobile version is far from free.

On top of that, this features 4 player split screen multiplayer, improved graphics, no micro transactions. This is not the best looking racing game on earth, it did start out as a mobile game, so the environments are a bit on the lower polygon side, but they look nice, and have a retro feel to them. Also like the fact that this is track/point to point races like the classic Need 4 Speeds. Over all its a nice arcade racer that looks nice and is a great through back to the classic racers of the past. Totally happy it's released date got pushed up as well.
