Well, i got good news and bad news about this weeks dlc.
Good news: its not a new ball, its a new stage. It's a fairly simple table with lots of aliens to kill and it has some loungish music instead of the hard techno. Oh, and theres a big eye that opens if you hit it enough times.
Bad news: it's only playable through story mode after you kill the last boss (as far as I know).
Hopefully next week will be a new 'arcade' table. Oh well, a new table is a new table.
EDIT: in case anyone was wondering, the new table doesn't use more blocks in the wii system memory.
Ya, I'm a little late on the new DLC... the semester is finishing and I got lots of tests / papers to mark. Anyways, the new DLC is yet another action ball: "trap ball". I havn't had the chance to unlock it yet... too busy.
@Ouazegaga Maybe you can tell me what it does when you unlock it, I'm sure you'll unlock it before me.... havn't actually played anything on wii for days!
Oh, hey. I forgot to say what paralyze ball does: It electrically charges the ball for 10 seconds (i think) and the ball paralyzes the aliens it touches. (play table 2 on arcade to unlock it) @Ouazegaga French, Brazilian, Canadian or whatever... you're a gamer just like everyone else here. On top of that, you're as fanatical about ACR as I am! That's sweet! I'll keep you informed every week before friday as the new DLC comes out so you know what to expect.
The latest ball is 'paralyze ball'... I'm sure you have to play one of the three tables to unlock this one too. I'm hoping they release a new table soon!
@Ouazegaga Sorry abou the delay in the reply, I didn't unlock explode ball, my girlfriend did 3 days ago. She was just trying out the tables in arcade mode and there it was. I did the same as you though, playing story mode on easy, normal and hard.
At least SIGE is coming out soon, I'm hoping december will have some great games instead of the garbage that came out this month.... after ACR I didn't download anything else.
I'm really hoping for more of the soldier series, especially Soldier Blade! That would be a dream come true. It's easily one of the best shooters EVER!
@Ouazegaga When it ACR came out, I played it constantly but I never unlocked anything. Then I thought that maybe it releases something every week on monday (I guess friday for Europe), so I turned it on, checked for updates, and there was a message saying "new content available for download, download now?" And there it was, tractor ball. It is a useful ball, but you got to play through story mode to 'activate' it. I can't wait for new stages.
Pass on this week, I was hoping for gradius or space invaders. I would've DL mm3, if i didn't already have it on the GC megaman anniversery collection. Hopefully next week is more my style.
@longtimegamer Tractor ball is an action ball that slows down time (matrix style) and puts a cursor on screen, you choose a target and the ball will "lock-on" and go after it. I didn't do anything to get it, I jusy turned it on and there it was.
@Jockolantern That's what I want to know. I mean, it's not much of a game. I downloaded it when it came out and I was unimpressed to say the least. It's fine for relaxing but that's it. Sure you unlock new fish once in a while, but there is (very) limited space in each of the aquariums to put them in. The music can get annoying (it would've been better if they used real instrumental samples and not a midi keyboard) but the graphics are good though, and it is cheap. I'm not saying it shouldn't be in the top 20, I just don't think it should be in the top 3, especially in front of mm9. EDIT: I almost forgot, my top 5: 1)World of Goo 2)Megaman 9 3)Lostwinds (when is the sequel coming out anyways? It's looooong overdue!) 4)Alien Crush Returns 5)Tetris Party (It's 5 because I have Tetris DS, and I think it's a bit better.)
Has anyone beat any of the 'mini bosses' hiding in the bonus areas? I have a feeling that beating them unlocks stuff. I've only seen the 1st stage mini boss (had him flashing red, then I lost my ball), it's a purple spider thing with one eye, anybody know if it's the same mini boss for every stage, or is it a different one?
@Wiloveit The instruction guide just says that there is DLC that gets unlocked after certain conditions are met. For the time being check out the link I posted.
@Crazynoodle: Pokemon ranch is high because a crazy amount of people who own nintendo systems are pokemon fans... and I guess they keep multiplying... or something. I don't know, it's a mystery to me too.
Some people have... 'questionable' taste. I mean c'mon. Incredible maze, midnight bowling, and my aquarium in the top 10? And why is pong toss still on the list? Plus, not seeing ACR on the list makes me wonder why so many are missing out on a great game... I guess people are waiting to see what DLC is available before they buy it.
I think that it's a good idea to give the graphics and audio a tweak, just as long as the gameplay and controls are as fluid and easy to use as the freeware version.
@longtimegamer: I can't find the forum I read about the action balls, I believe it was on ign. They had pics as well, I don't know if they were photoshopped, but I'm sure there's more action balls. As for extra stages, they should release a remake of the original stage. That would be sweet!
I thought it would get a 9 as well. As for DLC, I heard about two new action balls: Exploding ball, and Paralyzing ball.
@Crazynoodle: The leaderboards (high score and time attack) are very, very competitive, especially worldwide, in the high score leaderboard I'm 120th with 2280800pts for stage 1. As for time attack, I'm in 18th with 8:17.2 for stage 3.
@slambert: I thought maybe the DLC is 'time released'. I beat the story mode 3 times, and I didn't get anything new. At the moment, I'm rated 18th in the world on stage 3 worldwide time attack... I was 17th, then I got bumped down =(
Story mode is short, but keep in mind that the original didn't have a story mode and there was only one table, whereas Return has three tables (hopefully more). The wifi mode is tough to get a game going, the first time I tried I got 3 other ppl, the second time there was nobody, and the third time was against one other person. Just keep trying.
@Gavin Rozee ACR has online mp, the person who gets 10000000 (i might have a few extra zeros there =P) first wins. The game also has a timer that shows how long you took to reach said score. The faster you are, the better your online ranking will be. It records your ranking, but I don't think it records wins/losses. @ Finalkingdom13 & beastman93: Thanks =D
I just downloaded ACR, and I'm not disapointed one bit! Usually I wait for reviews on games, but since I'm a huge fan of the original I had to get it. Story mode is good (the boss battles are intense) and online multiplayer is fun even though it takes a while to get set up. This is easily one of my top three WW titles! @ Pocketim & Outruner: thanks for the warm welcome.

Re: Review: Alien Crush Returns (WiiWare)
Looks like I'm not missing anything good since I left my wii... there better be extra stage for arcade mode!
Re: Review: Alien Crush Returns (WiiWare)
Well, Ouazegaga, you are going to have to tell me what the new dlc is going to be for the next few weeks. I'm in Canada, miles away from my wii. =(

Re: Icarian: Kindred Spirits - Kid Icarus In All But Name?
This'll have to do until lostwinds 2 comes out. Sure looks sweet though, hopefully it's longer than lostwinds. I can't wait!
Re: Icarian: Kindred Spirits
Me excited! This definately looks to be a cross between kid icarus and lostwinds! It has potential.

Re: Evasive Space Is Anything But Evasive When It Comes to Screenshots
This looks similar to Geometry Wars, except it has better graphics and it's not in open space. I wonder if they will use a similar control scheme?
Re: Wayforward Interview - LIT
Time to save some points! I hope this turns out to be good, I love survival horrors and what's more scary than high school?
Re: Review: Alien Crush Returns (WiiWare)
One more monday, one more action ball: Explode ball!
Re: Hudson announce Pool Revolution: Cue Sports for WiiWare
Another pool sim... the wifi feature is the only thing that interests me. I prefer going to the bar down the street and play some real pool.
Re: Target Toss Pro Bags Coming To US WiiWare On Monday
Looks like I'll be holding on to my points for yet another week....
Re: Review: Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam (WiiWare)
Wow, 5/10... it sure surpassed my expectations by 4 points.

Well, if you like feeding virtual fish and listening to midi format classical music... then nothing is wrong with it! =P

Great review of a great game!
@Corbie: Have you unlocked any DLC yet?
Re: USA WiiWare Update: Alien Crush Returns and Home Sweet Home
@Crazynoodle: LOL, but Devil's Crush Ressurected sounds more realistic.
BTW has anyone gotten any DLC yet? I keep playing and playing, but nothing.
