Re: Nintendo Removes Infamous Drugging Scene From Western Localisation Of Fire Emblem Fates

BlueCosmos42

I can't say I'm surprised at this, the amount of backlash that was directed at Nintendo over this as soon as the game was launched was simply too much. As someone who was read the supports, yeah it's made out to be a lot worse than it actually is. Is it still tricking Soleil into developing romantic feelings for the male player character? Not directly, but yes it does have that effect should the player achieve an S rank with her. Honestly, her gimmick was something that was already bound to be changed in the localisation so I'm glad they got this out of the way as soon as possible and just let it be.

This makes me quite excited for the game however, as if they're revealing the changes they've made and this is it, it means we do keep a lot of the Japanese version's characters and story intact, which is always a good thing.

Re: Don't Count Nintendo Out, Says Former Xbox Boss Robbie Bach

He's quite right, Nintendo has been, and still is, a toy company and to an extent, thats what makes them a real deal in the video game industry. For Sony and Microsoft, they can stop their consoles and pull out if the market goes sour. Nintendo can't, because if they stop, they have nothing to go back on.

I'm not saying its a bad thing, in-fact, its a great thing. This means that every game Nintendo makes is a literal representation of their company and if they make a bad game, or have a bad year they can't just borrow money from a sister division. Nintendo is currently all about games, they can't just stop. I think thats part of what Bach is going for with his comments, he's saying that they can't just butt out and leave, they're in for the long haul and with the most experience in the industry, they know what they have to do (to some extent anyway). Another great read NL, definitely beats the doom and gloom about the star fox delay a couple days ago.

Re: Mario 64 Speedrunner Offers Cash Reward To Anyone Who Can Recreate Mysterious Glitch

The speedrunning scene is incredibly large, especially for a game like Super Mario 64. With only a few minutes between a large majority of the speedrunners (those whose times I could find anyway) and with improvements only being in seconds, a glitch like this could easily break the SM64 meta. That's why there is the $1000 cash prize, because this is something that can and will probably change the community forever. Could he donate it? Yeah, but who's to say he doesn't already donate?

I'm looking forward to seeing if this glitch gets recreated, and kudos to whoever manages to do it.

Re: Sakurai Explains Reasoning Behind Removal Of Ice Climbers From Super Smash Bros.

This is disappointing, but understandable really. Running the fighters at 60 fps is already pretty consuming, and unlike Luma, Nana has her own AI that follows Popo, not blindly following like Luma does to Rosalina. This doesn't mean one extra character on field, but instead a possible 4. 8 characters, all with complex models, possibly all with their own AI as well that the game has to use, assist trophies, final smashes and it isn't hard to see why this was so intense for the 3DS.

tl:dr, the game looks better therefore demands more resources, ice climbers double the resources for the characters, therefore the game would suffer because of them, I'm glad they made the decision to cut them out if it caused a wider problem.
