Re: Review: PixARK - A True Survival Horror, And Not In A Good Way

Black_Dragon_Joe

Just played for a little while. Watching my son play got me wondering. Anyway, found more bugs that I hadn’t found before. Lol. Also looked up the twitter page. The game is still in early access, which is interesting. In the state it’s in, it is far from worth the money that’s being asked. I’ve wiped my profile and don’t plan to play this thing again, unless some serious patching occurs. I’d get rid of it, but my son loves it.

My hope is that unlike what the developers did with ARK, this one will receive some support and not get dumped like a mouldy sack of potatoes. Despite the review, there is potential here. They just have a crap tonne of glitches that need fixing and content to add, if certain things like the obelisks doing nothing isn’t just another glitch.
Like some of you, I bought the game too, played it and quickly tired of its clunky controls and very annoying bugs. Found a lot of them in the short time I played. However my 6 year old loves the game. He loves flying around on his dragon.
I also can’t help but wonder if this game is still is early access. Like the review states, it doesn’t seem to be finished. Is a lot of money to put out for an unfinished game.

Re: Hands On: Revisiting Kanto With Pokémon: Let’s Go! Pikachu And Let’s Go! Eevee On Switch

Black_Dragon_Joe

This game looks like it will be a lot of fun. I’ve been a fan of Pokémon since the originals and look forward to playing this game. It’s also a bonus that I’ll b able to play with my little guy too. Thanks to me he loves the franchise almost, maybe more than I do.
I do have one minutely nagging question though; it appears that if u go the way of the pikachu, you’re forced to play as a male and vice versa for eevee? Is that just for the demo or is that how the game will be set up. Being more interested in the eevee version, and not necessarily wanting to play as a girl, I’d like to know. Same thing for the second player, are they stuck as the opposite gender, or can they choose? It’s a minor question, but one I’d like an answer to.

@Lone_Beagle
One can only hope. Don’t get me wrong, there r things that I like, even love about Breath of the Wild. The art direction, for example. The truly open world where u can spend hours just climbing trees... if you’re into that sort of thing, and I’m trying to b positive, so I’ll not touch the stamina bar, or the fact that it rains almost every time u try to climb... 😳. Umm, yeah. Anyway... moving on... this game has received rave reviews from everyone but me. Ocarina got rave reviews from everyone, including me. Majoras mask had a different plot, time travel/loops, but more or less played the same. History will very likely repeat, especially if money can b made; it is business. Which means more weapons breaking when people sneeze and cheap one hit deaths for all, but me. Not interested. Not any more. Mario looks like a lot of fun though. Been watching some videos online. Not sure, but I may be getting it for Christmas.

This game is awesome. Bugs and all. I still laugh every time I see a giant hit someone with its club and the glitch happens. Those of u who have seen it know what I’m talking about. As long as Bethesda’s gotten rid of the game breaking ones... anyway. Now if mods could b added, however, being its own entity (not 360/ps3 or quite PS4 xbone), I can see how it would b a challenge. Notwithstanding Nintendo’s need to control. Which has subsided some, but....

I hear that there’s no mod support. At all. 😭. I was hopeful with all I’ve heard about Nintendo being open to cross play with Xbox , but they aren’t even open to the bs that Sony allowed on their system. Boo. Poor choice. I would have loved to take a fully modded version of one of my favourite games of all time with me on the go. Looks like I’m sticking with my Xbox.
This system has the potential to really make serious ripples in the gaming world, yet choices like this... 🤢

Re: Poll: Six Months of the Switch - What Do You Think of Nintendo's Console Hybrid?

Black_Dragon_Joe

I have to admit, I was pretty jaded by the time talk of the switch came around. I grew up playing Nintendo systems and really liked them, but many of nintendos choices over the years, and the fact that most of the games that I wanted to play were on other consoles, had caused me to lose interest. Step up to now, when I decided to buy a switch, it was under the thought that if this system didn't keep my interest, it would b my last Nintendo system. And admittedly, at first, it was looking that way. Despite critical acclaim, I just didn't like Zelda, or much else. Then a couple of indie games caught my interest, then a few of the consoles mainstays (namely MARIO kart and splatoon). Now, the switch has the potential to become my top system, depending on how certain situations play out. I hope it does.

I've played this game to death on my laptop, before it died 😭 Anyway, this game is awesome, and from what I've read, the switch version is shaping up amazingly. If u haven't played this game yet, I couldn't recommend it enough. If Nintendo adds mod support, as in real mod support, not like what Sony did, I'll b picking this up day one regardless of how much I've already played it. Taking this game on the go would b awesome, especially with mod support.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch)

I tried. Really. Still don't like this game. I love the graphic style and the fact that u can literally go anywhere, but that's it. Too many design choices just take away from the experience of it. I literally don't like anything else about it. I'm no reviewer, but this game does not deserve all the praise it's recieved. I'll hold out for skyrim. Love that game, even with its many glitches. If Nintendo allows mods on the system, actual mods, not the PS4 bs, it's a day one buy. As for Zelda, I want my money back. I'm sorry if that offends, but it's my lowly opinion.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch)

Thanks for responding. I appreciate it.
I likely shouldn't have left that post, or at least put more thought into it. I find aspects of the game frustrating. Learning to roll with it is part of playing games. I just don't want to be more tense after trying to relax than when I first sat on my couch.
Like you, I plan on picking up mk8. My wife and youngest son love Mario Kart. My tastes tend more toward action rpg type stuff. I don't need to buy a lot of games cuz they take me forever to finish them. Fallout 4 is one of my recent favourites. Took me months to finish.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch)

I'm sorry.i really do want to like this game. I really do, but I don't. I know that won't be a popular comment, but it's true. There's just too much in here that I don't like.
The presentation is amazing, I love the art style and the open ended game play that allows the ultimate in exploration. However, that where it ends. A lot of the design choices do not agree with me. Granted, they aren't necessarily bad, I just don't like them.
Breaking weapons are no thing new to video games. It is something players have had to deal with from time to time with games, however, usually said weapons last a little while b4 they break. More than a half dozen hits anyway, unlike the weapons that I've experienced in this game.
The world is huge and begs to b explored, however I have issues seeing the point when, it seems every hill hides something that can kill you with one hit. It is no wonder hurtle is in the shape it's in, Link, the hero of hyrule is the biggest wuss this side of planet earth. Granted, he gets stronger, but that doesn't take away the frustration of exploration. Not to mention, despite having lots of shrines to find as well as other locations, the size of the world makes many parts just seem empty.
perhaps I should explain myself a little. I'm a married man, hold a job, have kids and other hobbies. I like games, but use them to relax, as a mild means of escapism. A typical experience with this Zelda game goes kind of like this: let's see what's over that mountain... dead. Let's try for that tower... dead. Oh what's that... dead. I wonder if there's anything new on Netflix?
I know I've written a small book, for that I apologize, but I've tried to keep it brief. I just know how I feel about this game. And if I feel this way, I know I'm not alone. The worlds too big of a place.

Re: Poll: Is Splatoon a Blockbuster That'll Help Revive the Wii U?

Black_Dragon_Joe

I'm looking forward to this game. Looks to be a lot of fun and I can play it with my 2 year old around.
Personally, I have no issues with the lack of voice chat. Had a few bad experiences that I have no interest in repeating, however to completely shut it out may be a tad extreme. Regardless, I'm looking forward to hooking up and playing online
