Original article [Fri 19th Jul, 2024 05:30 BST]:
This weekend is EVO 2024 and while the full roster of games has already been revealed, it seems there'll be some other surprises...
Capcom's official Marvel vs. Capcom social media account has announced it will be hosting a special "casual community livestream" which will showcase the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics from the show floor on 19th July. You'll be able to see it in action on Capcom USA's Twitch channel:
This new collection was a surprise announcement during Nintendo's June Direct broadcast. It's arriving at some point later this year and will include a total of seven games, with additional content like a museum, training modes, online functionality. and more. A physical version has also been confirmed.
Apart from the MvC Collection, EVO 2024 will also feature Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, Guilty Gear Strive, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, Under Night In-Birth II Sys: Celes, Mortal Kombat 1, King of Fighters XV and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike.
If there is any other Switch or Nintendo-related news at EVO 2024, we'll be sure to let you know.

It's good to know when's Mahvel.
RELEASE DATE PLEEEEEEEASE!
I'm guessing that's a given, but Capcom are being very smart about this. You want to maximize the excitement for Mahvel, announce a release date at EVO. Cant wait!
This collection is one of my most anticipated releases. Can't wait to play these games again.
Nice lineup of games for EVO. Maybe we will get a release date for Marvel Collection.
YES! Let get it on now, select and make your first pick, 10,9,8,7,6.
(Yes I know it’s third strike but it still fits)
Edit: I thought y’all would finish it. Let me down NL peeps.
Fingers crossed we get a release date. Day 1 pickup regardless.
I can't wait. This a dream come true. Physical for switch and download for ps5. Gives me a glimmer of hope that we will get capcom vs snk 1 and 2 or Powerstone 1 and 2 remakes or ports one day
@Ryu_Niiyama Third Strike you say?
Announce it for a next week shadow drop and watch the internet hype machine explode.
Capcom need to give us a release date already. Idc about seeing it in action, I've played enough fighting games in my time to know what they're like. I just want to play this.
Not having a go at you Liam btw 😅
Seems like a good opportunity to drop the release date, or better yet, a shadow drop.
I'd buy it instantly
@PLATINUM7
(question: "Mahvel")
Fingers crossed we'll get a release date for the game there then!
@Ryu_Niiyama you know what fits even better? 🎶I wanna take you for a ride! 🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺 I wanna take you for a ride!🎶
@Mario500 It’s a long running FGC joke. Due to Yipes being insane with his commentary. He cusses a lot but you can probably find clips on YouTube.
As in “IT’S MAHVEL, BABY!” Also where “He’s So PRINGLES” (or just Pringles) comes from. You will catch FGC folks tossing that out when we are deep in the hype.
Basically you can clock long time fighting game fans (especially mvc fans) when stuff like that comes out. (Or at least memeheads)
@WiltonRoots @fpcreator2000 yeah but 3rd Strike is also at EVO so I was trying to cover both and hoping others would finish the song. I really miss shoryuken.com. My fighting game jokes are always hit or miss here.
I’ll see myself out.
@Ryu_Niiyama I always like the "Third Strike you say?" "Yep. Third Strike" back and forths, almost as if you don't need to say anything, it's like a nod of acknowledgement of the greatness of the game. A knowing nod with few words.
@WiltonRoots yeah I wasn’t gonna start/jump
on that chain (you almost got me but then I saw someone else go in another direction so I figured I was mistaken). Already saw somebody asking about MAHVEL. We’d be in here explaining jokes all day.
Please give us a release date or a stealth release. Either one is okay.
I just want the release date. If it releases during EVO, that'd be cool too.
@Ryu_Niiyama always the issue with us vets on the site, people misinterpreting a rapport that’s built up over years…sometimes you forget and have to explain to people!
@WiltonRoots True enough. Sometimes I feel like I have to tiptoe around here.
Anyway, you watching EVO? I'll probably just check the recaps. I usually hang around Virtua Fighter Dot Com (name of the site) as we like to lament that VF has been snubbed again. Solidarity in our grief and all that.
Also, yes Third Strike. (yeah better late than never. I felt bad leaving you hanging.)
@Ryu_Niiyama I love Virtua Fighter but fell off after 3tb. The whole game is a craft, and I’m so glad I was there to witness when it took over Japan first hand. Spent years trying to master it, went out to Tokyo and got it handed to me so many times.
The footage I saw of MVC 2 makes it seem like the FPS has tripled. I could be remembering things wrong, but I can't recall it being as fast as it seems. Not that I'm complaining - it looks crazy, and I think the hectic pace makes it feel even more exciting.
Also...SVC Chaos...yet ANOTHER solid fighting game to toss onto the console. Just superb
@T317 A lot of the footage was people playing in turbo mode instead of normal so that's why everything looks faster
@27celsius Ah, ok. I wasn't aware if MVC 2 had turbo or not.
Still no release date. COME ON!
Capcom's definitely on fire lately, and it's great to see! Hopefully Square Enix finds its stride again within the next couple years. Also anxious to see Level 5 do well with their next lineup of games.
Nice to see Marvel getting hype again at Evo since UmVC 3 days.
And we didn't get a release date what a waste of time that was.
@Jackomorgan I also prefer the other games in the collection to MVC2, and that's the one they played. I know that's sacrilege, but I just have more fond memories of the earlier games in the series.
I was sure a release date would come out during EVO. I don't know what they are thinking.
@LikelySatan I heard a YouTuber/Streamer said the collection is not ready yet that's BS if it's true here's hoping Gamescom but I doubt it starting to lose interest in this collection due to the lack of Transparency from Capcom I never played any of these games prior but always wanted to try them.
Looks epic from the trailer. Ha. Some good memories there of the releases I DID manage to own and play
