Classic manga and anime fans should gather and rejoice as news arrived of a complete English translation for the second game in Banpresto's 3x3 Eyes Super Famicom series.
3x3 Eyes: Jūma Hōkan was released in 1995, a late generation title for the Super Famicom. In this game you take control of Yakumo who has just arrived in Hong Kong looking for the missing Pai. It is a mix of adventure, platform and (of course) fighting game that will often have you scratching your head about what to do next; those expecting some sort of simple arcade slugfest be warned - this one needs both brains and brawn to finish.
At least now thanks to the efforts of Atomizer_Zero you can finally understand the dialogue between characters that gently guides you through the adventure.
You can download the translation patch from right here and yes, it is fully compatible with either your RetroN 5 or Retro Freak. A foreword of caution: The choice you make at the end of the first chapter will decide which of the two possible endings you will get.

Thanks a lot for the notification ! (this game was sleeping in my - sadly illegal - collection of files)
Old fan of the anime right here ✋🏻
One of my favourite mangas / anime. Even went as far as to create a script for my Film Studies course for the time skip between chapters 5 & 6 based on Yakumo's trip to China.
Oh YES! I remember the manga of this, can't find a dvd version anywhere.
Loved 3x3 Eyes back in the days when VHS tapes released by Manga Entertainment were the coolest thing you could find on a shelf in Virgin Megastore, HMV or Tower Records in London. Ninja Scroll, Fist of the North Star, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Appleseed, Violence Jack, Crying Freeman, Battle Angel Alita, Cyber City Oedo 808, Wicked City, Demon City, Devil Man, A.D. Police, Guyver...
Is this game highly regarded? Might give it a go at some point.
@Bunkerneath If I remember the OVA never got a UK release on DVD as Manga UK lost the rights. However Pioneer got the rights in the US and you can get it from there, or Amazon UK, but I can't remember if they did a new dub.
@GauBan Yup looks like new dub on DVD version was awful, but to be honest I like subtitles. But for £50, quite costly
@Bunkerneath yeh, Pioneer did a new dub, which didn't sit so well with nostalgia. Japanese audio is fine though. I managed to get the original English dub for the first two OVAs (Eps 1-4) by other methods. I got my 3x3 DVDs from Up1 Publications, but you can prob find it on Amazon or eBay for less.
Nice denims
Caught the anime on a local network back in the day. Was a gem at a time when anime was a lot harder to come by.
@Bunkerneath It was a great animé, I wouldn't be too hard on Pioneer though, without them we'd have likely not got the definitive dub of the Tenchi Muyo OVAs.
@BionicDodo Loved all of those animé but as a huge Battle Angel Alita fan I find the animé painful, the manga (and it's follow up series Battle Angel Alita: Last Order) is a masterpiece.
@Riderkicker Animé was indeed almost impossible to find here in the UK during 90's... had to order a magazine from an American company just to find out more about it. Thank goodness for mail-order VHS tapes!! Glad things are more international now though, love my Kamen Riden Rider Wizard Driver & Decadriver.
Nice, that was one I was looking forward to.
I don't know much about this title just yet, but translation projects like this that make old 16-bit games more accessible are always great news. Quite a few gems never saw release in all major regions. Glad to see these stories and hope they keep coming.
Oh I loved that game! Struggled through it with a dictionary and dial up when I was 13. Back when I actually completed games...
Good for people who wanted it.
Thank you I appreciate this
The original 1990s Manga OAVs for this were brilliant imo.
Omg there's a title I haven't thought of in years.
