Nintendo's squid-shooter, Splatoon, is the Wii U game that just keeps on giving.
As previously reported, a massive patch was expected to drop this week, adjusting many of the finer competitive aspects of the title.
The good news is, Version 2.2.0 is now available to download. Expect a number of changes to game modes, stages and the overall weapon balance. There has also been a number of bug fixes further enhancing the online experience.
If you missed the news the first time round, take a look at the full patch notes as well as the weapon balance changes.
Tell us in the comments how you're finding Version 2.2.0 of Splatoon, and also let us know if you like the latest weapon now available from Sheldon - the Rapid Blaster Pro.

So this is the only thing that has come from Nintendo's scheduled downtime, right?
Lost of tasty leaks here guys...spoiler alert. https://twitter.com/nwplayer123
This patch summed up:
On a side note, two new Sloshers called the Slosher Machine and Slosher Machine Neo, which are the exact same weapon design wise except the Neo has a sticker on it.
Oh, and it's literally a washing machine.
@maukenboost Basically two new ones were discovered in the datamining of the patch, the Sloshing Machine and the Sloshing Machine Neo, which are literally washing machines.
As far as the balancing goes, Sloshers were unaffected as far as I know. I believe they're now more effective on the Rainmaker shield though.
hahahahah how does it feel Roller mains. Scum of the planet. Hope your cheap a$$es continue to get nerfed to oblivion until Nintendo finally realizes their mistake and removes rollers from the game altogether :]
@Neil12 Just because you can't counter rollers doesn't mean they're OP, or as you say it, 'scum of the planet'. Please have a little more respect for people who like using these, okay? Sheesh.
Time to go make life a living hell for all rollers :3
@Neil12 It doesn't feel that bad honestly. Even with the recent nerfs, I'm still using rollers with no problem.
@Yosher I have no respect for any roller main. I squidbag every single one of them after every kill :]. Learn to play the game instead of resorting to the cheapest tactic inn the game
@Neil12 rollers are hardly a cheap tactic since you have any to get very close to people to splat them. Why don't you use rollers if they're as powerful as you think they are?
@Neil12 As a charger main, I really have to say...
You may need to grow up a bit.
I use rollers for turf war, the only roller i despise is the dyno. Alot of peeps rely on that weapon solely. So i completely understand the hate but i wont talk since i use them in certain situations. To each their own though love hate relationship but hey we are all still playing in the end !
@stipey The Splatoon maintenance, yes. Monday's maintenance was solely for the 3DS stability update.
And no Direct, sigh...
@Neil12 I'm a roller main and I'm offended.
@Neil12 You seem like a very mature person who fully understands the drawbacks of every weapon type.
Custom Double Squelcher? I guess I've been playing handicapped this whole time. Here I come, Rollers!!
@Jazzer94 lol im a Roller main... i still use the Defalt original one as i like the Sub wepons (and havent unlocked all the others yet)
Also dose enione know wether the Octoling Game Data crashing bug has been fixed yet? iv been evoiding playing it as i realy dont want to lose my data.
Rollers are not an easy weapon to master, but to those who have mastered them, this little change means nothing. All we have to do is make slight adjustments to our game play style. So to those who fear rollers, you are right to still feel that way.
Rollers forever!
I need to try my roller with these changes.
@Neil12 is the 12 in your username also your age? Can't wait to roller you again online.
@Jazzer94 LOL. Nice!
The roller nerfs are welcome in my opinion. For the reason that the rollers (Particularly the dynamo) were so effective at range with the jump-flick attack. The point of the roller is they are for hit and run guerrilla encounters, not running headlong and into shooters and surviving because the flick has the same range as most guns
Didn't like the new blaster. Seemed you needed two body shots to splat opponents... PTL for Roller nerfs tho
@Neil12 Maybe you should actually 'git gud', as they say, instead of calling rollers cheap. You're the most unfresh squid on the block.
''Boohoo I can't defeat rollers so I'll just call them cheap and scum of the earth because I'm too lazy to figure out how to counter them!'' That's what you sound like, buddy. Please, come back when you learn some proper respect and manners.
I'll have to try the H-3 nozzle nose again. Before, it felt like there wasn't any difference in range compared to the L-3 except it was much slower...so it was pretty useless. I still have hope for the weapon, especially if they release one with a splash wall - it could be a nice change-up from the .96 gal/splash wall set-up I almost always use when FORCED to play rainmaker....rainmaker sucks
I hope they soon will release another patch that fixes the Netcode. They somehow messed it up with version 2.0.0, as several sources have confirmed (the last Global Testfire ran on the old Netcode and was more stable).
@Neil12 Calling something "cheap" is the sure sign of a scrub who hasn't figured out a way to get around a certain tactic. Git gud.
Seems like my .96 Gal baby have been left untouched again. Seems like it's one of the perfect weapon people can use and counter if they're no weird lag .
Can't wait to play against some rollers and certain types of chargers in turf war later. If found ways to counter them before but now, the fun increases.
