It's the first download update of December in Europe, and it brings a host of new games, decent Virtual Console options and plenty of discounts. There are also a couple of seasonal arrivals that need to improve a lot over previous entries, but overall there's a fair amount of variety and options to tempt us. Let's get to the details.
Wii U eShop
Cake Ninja 3: The Legend Continues (Cypronia, €4.99 / £4.49) — There have been three previous entries in this franchise on DSiWare, including a Christmas special, and now it makes the move over to the Wii U. We've been scathing of the lack of content and quality in those entries, and based on the description there doesn't appear to be more content here beyond the core mode of slashing cake to pieces with the stylus. We'll see if this is a tasty treat or a cream cake that's been left out in the sun for too long.
Wii U Virtual Console
Crash 'n the Boys: Street Challenge (Arc System Works, €4.99 / £3.49) — A slightly wacky mix of River City Ransom and Track & Field, you can tackle events like swimming or the 400m hurdles with bizarre twists. While the concept is fun the execution falls down, as we explained in our 3DS Virtual Console Crash 'n the Boys: Street Challenge review. This is the US version of the game.
S.C.A.T. (Natsume, €4.99 / £3.49) — Not typically the kind of game associated with Natsume, but this is a fast-paced and enjoyable shoot 'em up, with various weapon power-ups and the ability to adjust the aim of the turrets. It's a fun 8-bit title — with co-op — in which you shoot everything in sight, which we rather enjoyed in our S.C.A.T. review. This is the US version of the game.
Shadow of the Ninja (Natsume, €4.99 / £3.49) — Another Natsume arrival, this came rather late in the NES life-cycle; its sidescrolling ninja-action certainly brings to mind other iconic titles such as those in the Ninja Gaiden franchise. We felt this was rather run-of-the-mill in our Wii Virtual Console Shadow of the Ninja review, though still gave it a decent recommendation. We'll take it out for another battle. This is the US version of the game.

3DS eShop
The Legend of Dark Witch - Chronicle 2D ACT (CIRCLE Entertainment, €3.99 / £3.49) — This title picks up an extended name for its release in Europe, which comes six weeks after its North American arrival. This is a 2D action platformer has hints of Mega Man and also features some exploration, encouraging multiple playthroughs. Despite some flaws in the title we were fans of this in our The Legend of Dark Witch review.
Mindfeud (Engine Software, €4.99 / £4.49) — A board-game experience that aims to combine fun with a mental workout, you "have to create smart formations of tiles in different colours and symbols to gain more points than your opponent does". It can be played against the computer, naturally, though online multiplayer is also promised; we'll put our minds to the task of bringing you a review.
Christmas Wonderland 4 (Microvalue, €4.99 / £4.49) — It had to happen. We've had two entries on DSiWare and a 3DS eShop début last year, and now we have the fourth entry in this hidden object series. You find objects, is the jist, through we've been scathing of the previous three versions; will this one be another lump of coal or a pleasant surprise? We'll see soon enough.

When I saw plenty of discounts I was hoping we might get the same VC sale that North America got. Nothing for me this week.
Quite telling that the sonic Boom demo was Released AFTER the full game was
Nice SMT sale! I might get this.
Hm, might get Legend of Dark Witch somewhere down the line, but right now there's nothing for me here. Wish I had a Wii U to make use of that Ducktales discount. Oh well, onto next week...
Meh, still waiting for the GBAvanias.
Edit: I remember SCAT on the Famicom, but with a different title. I might get that instead for this week since I liked it back then.
No Metroid Fusion discount? Nothing me for then... Also, how many times have these EnjoyUp games been on sale by now? Just permanently drop the price!
SMT: Overclocked discounted finally ^o^
I'll see if I manage to get it togheter with the Dark Witch game, it's not a big price getting both, but last week was very heavy on my game-wallet >.>;;;
Very curious to try the Sonic Boom demo. There is a lot wrong in that game, I understood that far, but maybe I'll find something I can appreciate in it anyway.
That SMT game which is 66% off maybe?
Don't know much about it, I'll see or go for the "nothing for me this week" way.
"S.C.A.T."
Hehehe..
Best Buy is running a pretty great deal on Wii U games at as part of a new Cyber Monday sale. As Nintendo Life decided not to share...
Buy one title, you can get a second for 40 percent off. The selection includes Super Smash Bros. Wii U, Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, and more.

Ugh! Poor week considering its so close to xmas.
Christmas Wonderland 4 Description:
"Christmas Wonderland 4 is a great Hidden Objects game packed full of gorgeous graphics, hidden surprises, fun puzzles and engrossing mini games for ALL the family to enjoy."
I'd certainly hope a hidden object game has hidden surprises. And I don't think its possible to have an engrossing mini game, or its not really a mini game anymore.
Nnnnnnnnnope
a rally game for 3DS huh? i really hope it is any good. not many good racers for 3DS. sadly i sold my copy of ridge racer
Terrible week and still no Demon's Crest...
Shin Megami Tensei overclocked finally gets a discount.
Probably nothing for me.
Lol.
Yay! Now I can try the Knuckles infinite jump cheat!
For Free!
Anyone played Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two on Wii U? I heard that you couldn't use the Wiimote in the Wii U version, did they ever update that?
Shadow of the Ninja!
My favorite ninja game.(well, after the Mystical Ninja ofcourse).
@WiiLovePeace It's not a great game on the Wii U unfortunately. Player 1 is stuck using the gamepad controller whilst player 2 can enjoy the game how it is supposed to be played, with wiimote. Add to that the frame rate drops and terrible camera and you have an unenjoyable game.
The characters are great though.
Might try out SMT for that price.
Shin Megami Tensei: DSO only 11.99?! Shine Get.
About darn time Atlus made a discount of Overclocked here. In America it feels like they discount it every three weeks, so now I can finally buy it as well. I loved the original Devil Survivor (100%'d it, actually) but I couldn't justify a full-price purchase for an enhanced version with a few hours of extra content. Twelve euros, though? Count me in.
Looks like I may get Overclocked. Nothing else interests me.
Still no Mario Kart Super Circuit
I'm getting the Sonic Boom demo as I liked what I played of it at EGX.
So is cake ninja S.C.A.T?
I can see a few of my friends getting Shadow the Hedgehog Themes.. Provided they aren't based on Sonic Boom.
Well at least Sonic is consistent w/ the demos - Sonic Racing Transformed, Sonic Lost World and now Sonic boom. And I think they all may have come out a week or so after the game, so consistent there as well. The Pikmin 3 demo came out a year later, still haven't had 1 for SSBU even though SSB 3DS got a demo, and no demo for MK8 which came out in May.
What can I say, I like both consistency and demos.
Legend of the Dark Witch for me - I love me some witches!
I'll get Devil Survivor once it's back to regular price. The rest is boring.
Oooooh, I hope the Christmas Animal Crossing theme comes to North America this week!
Yes, I am excited about a 3DS theme.
Another rubbish week. Still waiting on the N64 vc games to arrive. Well, how about some stability instead then? But, I suppose we'll just have to "please understand" lol...
Ducktales for me!! Was having money troubles the last time this was reduced, this time nothing shall stand in my way!!
Thought there might have been something good for wii u's 2 yr anniversary, shame
Give a discount for Sonic Lost World on Wii U. I can pay 10€ for it.
@Grumblevolcano good call man, I forgot all about that! So long as it's out before the ddl promotion ends I'm happy as I plan a spree on the e shop to milk the last free codes I can get
Also , like you, I'm all over that sonic demo as I was a little tempted before the reviews and I like to make my own mind up on how bad a game is. I did hate the lost world demo though =/
Everyone, buy that Chao theme so we can get another Chao Garden!
is it a good idea from SEGA to entice people to play the demo of Sonic Boom before they buy it? Nope.
I hate how Nintendo will not say Christmas some time! Like in Animal Crossing they call it toy day. No wonder people think Nintendo are kiddy! With a name like toy day! That makes me want to throw up! Just say Christmas! Do people get offended that easy that they have to call it something gay like Toy Day? NO! Just keep it real Nintendo. I don't want yo TOY DAY theme!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Deanster101 It's good news for gamers cuz we can make a informed choice!
When is UCraft coming?
Thought Pheonix Wright Trilogy was out this week?
Guessed overclocked would be discounted sooner or later. Will get that and probably never play it...
Oh look! Another opportunity to warn everyone that abyss isn'teven worth getting payed to play!
Poor
@manu0 Lol you say that every week.
SCAT? No no no no... Why would anyone use this for a game name. I hate to think what would come up if I googled this let alone play it.
I hope it is a rubbish game so that the tag line on its review is simply its name
@3DSFlo Not for a while buddy....
all rubbish as usual.
Was tempted by that really cheap Abyss Wii U download, then I noticed 0% in the poll, so nah, nothing for me this week.
I wanted the NA discounts, they have Soul Hackers on sale, i want that game so bad. Probably grabbing Overclocked though.
Whoa, something's seriously wrong with this week! Legend of Dark Witch is nowhere to be found in the european eShop, or at least the german one. Please don't tell me it has no USK rating!
