Wii Karaoke U probably still holds the crown as one of the most peculiar offerings on the Wii U eShop. In some ways it's one of the most modern titles Nintendo's released in terms of online functionality, with a substantial range of tracks available to stream and various time-based passes to purchase in order to satisfy into 'karaoke party night' fans. It's possibly the title that's most outraged Wii U owners' neighbours, too.

We went over its merits in our hands on impressions when it launched, and it has had its moments of controversy over uncensored lyrics; despite highs and lows it's remained a feature in Europe, particularly, with the title making regular cameo appearances in the region's Nintendo Direct broadcasts and in social network posts.

Nintendo of Europe now seems to be planning some form of contest, with the Twitter post below telling us to keep our eyes peeled.

We suspect the so-far-unused announcement community on Miiverse will play a role in this, and it'll be interesting to see what form it takes — uploading screenshots and scores of assigned songs seems like a reasonable bet.

If you're a fan of Wii Karaoke U it may be a good idea to start practising now.
