Never let it be said that teaming a completely harmless boyband with a family-friendly video game doesn't work. Kiddie favourite boppers JLS have clearly been doing sterling work in promoting Wii Party, as the game leaps six places to number four in the UK chart.
With the exception of re-entries, the entire top 40 saw just five titles move up the charts, all of them Nintendo-exclusive titles: Wii Party, Wii Sports Resort, New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart DS.
The highest new entry for a Nintendo platform was, unsurprisingly, Ubisoft's dancing juggernaut sequel Just Dance 2, only outsold by FIFA 11 and controversial – and beardy – shooter Medal of Honor.

mm. Hey just a second, the 1 and 2 buttons are now A and B! I DEMAND THE MEANING OF THIS!!
oh yeah, and good for Nintendo.
Looks like this cake was based on the Remote revealed alongside the Revolution - the power button is also a different shape.
I always call the 1 and 2 buttons B and A respectively when playing with the wiimote sideways, and new players are always like: "Whaaat?"
Hmmm a Wii 2 leak? or is it a mistake of the bakery? The world may never know!
Wii Party is doing great in Holland as well. It enters this weeks Wii list at the top. And enters the all-platforms list at 6. Not bad considering five games of the top ten are soccer games and three of the top ten are the new Medal of Honor games.

@GamesX99 Nothing so interesting - look at this picture from 2006. It's what the Wii Remote used to look like
@lex0plex
lol i do that too. someone will ask me how to play something and i'll be like "use a and b... NO not that "A and B", the 1 and 2... NO "a is 2" and "b is 1"!"
Note to 3rd party developers.
This is what happens when you bother to MARKET your games.
Sorry, I still wouldn't be interested even if Weird Al promoted it.
JLS like it? It must be bad.
Both of those wii cakes are player 1. No party here, just a couple of loners.
@Amorous badger
To be fair, it also has "Wii" in the title. Those don't usually have troue selling (except music, bit that was a very different type of game compared to the rest of the wii titles).
Good let the casuals gobble up all the shovelware games anyway. Wii party might be worth getting someday but not right now, especially when Christmas is coming up. I've seen plenty of Petz and Hanna Montana games sold out at places like Walmart and can only be happy for one reason that its happening, and that is to distract those people from the good stuff! However, this also means good games won't sell as well and become sleeper hits or cult classics because the casuals don't buy them also and therefore limits the amount of "hardcore" games on the system...ugh its all the shovelwares fault for causing this paradoxical conundrum!
I'm quite happy for games to become 'cult classics'.
They're usually cheaper then.
Just wait till the Super Mario Allstars Collection, that'll be next to rule the charts...
@lex0plex I do the same thing all the time. It kind of annoys me that they never know what I'm talking about.
I actually want to get Wii Party but they're just to much other games i rather get... for pete's sake, I haven't even Mario Galaxy 2, and I very much prefer Mario Galaxy 2 over Wii Party. Well anyways, I'm glad the casual audience is enjoy Wii Party.
