I love it how the moment the new console is offical announce someone always within hours says oh the current console is dead. If you notice most consoles stick around for at least 2 to 3 years after the new one is released.
except Wii has been close to dead for all of this year anyway and GCN makes this look like a possible recurring theme. And N64 died the moment GCN was released.
Saw new Rhythm Heaven trailer, that will rule. DS game was one of the best games released on the system easily.

Truthfully I dont see how you can say the Wiis been dead for close of this year. Lets not forget the 3DS was released just 3 months ago so for most of the year Nintendos attention has been on the 3DS there are still a batch of good games coming out for it on all fronts, disc base, VC and Wiiware.
As for the N64 yeah it is one of my favorite system but truth be told the N64 was dead the moment the Playstation was released it was just on life support till the Gamecube came out.

In our household, the PS1 was pretty much dead. No one wanted to play it. Everyone ran to the N64- especially for it's stellar multiplayer games- something that was a hassle to do on PS1 and frankly, at the age I was back then, I had no idea such multipak existed.
That's not to say I didn't play PS1 (it was my brother's anyway). But N64 took 40% of my time with the Gameboy/GBC taking the rest.
but truth be told the N64 was dead the moment the Playstation was released it was just on life support till the Gamecube came out.
please tell me you mean PS2.
Anyway I kinda agree, but again, I'm not exactly demanding a million new must have games, just a few great ones. Banjo Tooie, Majora's Mask and Paper Mario were awesome enough to survive the lack of other games and Mario Party 3 and THPS2 were great too. I know there were at least a couple more I played in the last year or year and a half of the N64. So honestly, get Last Story and Earthseeker here too, a couple of new surprises and a bit of Wiiware and I'm ok with this. Probably.
and no, at least on disc, nothing has come out I care about (Wiiware is only like 1 or 2 games. Maybe) And when a somewhat extreme defender of Wii is saying that, that has basically begged people to look for hidden gems, there's a problem.
I'm disappointed that nintendo didn't show Xenoblade chronciles, The last story and Pandora's tower at e3, I don't see why they didn't show the first two, when they're both confirmed for European release and a confirmation of a localisation of Pandora's tower would've been good too.
Did you guys miss the part during the presentation where they said there are more Wii games they will announce later? The Wii U likely won't be out until mid to late next year. That's almost a year from now. The Wii has a while left to go. It's not dead yet.

I wouldn't say the wii is dead just yet the roundtable meeting yesterday clearly said that there are still several wii games not yet announced the 1st of which would be Pilotwings and also may I remind you that there is still a pokemon wii game that hasn't be announced
I repeat, the DS was considered DEAD one year ago when they announced the 3DS, yet it got some of the best games of its catalogue in the last 12 months (Ghost Trick, Dragon Quest VI, Last Window, Kirby, 2 Layton games, Okamiden and more). If that's the way Nintendo systems die, then death is a treat!!
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...
Given that the Wii U is really more of a continuation of the Wii than a break with it — using all the same controllers and peripherals, and backwards-compatible — I'm sure the Wii will do just fine in the meantime. I also see plenty of good games coming down the line (Mario Party 9 and Kirby, in particular).

I thought as much. You're wrong but ok. (if you meant PS2 vs. GCN, that would make more sense)
My point being is that when all the gaming manufacturers saw that Sony was going with discs and Nintendo was going with cartridges they lost alot of their third party support for the N64. For example look at like Square for years they were a Nintendo only company but when the PS was leased they severed ties with Nintendo. Stayin with the cartridge format is what sealed the N64s fate. I honestly dont see that same thing with the Wii.

N64 still had games released. So far this year, Wii has had Mario Sports Mix and nothing else of value. (and Mario Sports Mix wasn't exactly amazing)
oh yeah and Conker's Bad Fur Day came out in 2001 so that counts too. Mario Tennis (Mario Golf too?) as well, great sports games. All within the last year and half for the console (IRRC at least). 1st party did a lot towards the end of the console, so that helped plenty...so I guess if Nintendo took a similar approach to Wii at least one of the major titles from last year would have been delayed? I dunno.
At this point I'm really not sold on the WiiU, so I'll definitely be playing my Wii for a while. They're still releasing games for DS even though the 3DS is out, so I'm sure the Wii isn't going to be dropped the second the WiiU comes out.

I was one of the early PSX owners and I have to say it was largely unused until Final Fantasy VII came out in 1997--a year after Mario 64. 1997 is when the PSX really took off.

Super Adventure Island (VC) Chrono Trigger (VC) Megaman X (VC) Lego Pirates of the Caribbean (Disc) MDK 2 (WiiWare) Conduit 2 (Disc) WWE All Stars (Disc) Lego Star Wars 3 (Disc)
