VC was nice too but ever since it was revealed that no effort would be put into upgrading the games to make them all that they could be, like adding online multiplayer and such to F-Zero and so forth, that did dampen my excitement over that.
am I the only person who didn't expect this sort of stuff? when I heard about VC and how it would let you play old games you never had a chance to play I was interested. When it came out and it worked as advertised I was satisfied. I was never upset that Mario Kart 64 didn't have an online leaderboard or Mario 64 didn't have upgraded textures. Nintendo said it would be like playing them on the original systems and it was like playing them on the original systems. No complaints!
Its like when people say that Wii Motion Plus should have "been there from the start" and that adding it later is "admitting that the original tech had flaws". I guess the same must be true with the PS3 Slim
Regarding VC, well I just thoguht that it would have been a great business move aswell as great fun for me since it would made me buy my favorite games again. I mean, I would have gladly payed $8 or even twice that for an updated version of F-Zero but since it isn't there's really no reason for me to do that, in fact it would be stupid of me to do that since my SNES is located approx 4 dm from my Wii.
And for the record, the Wii Motion Plus should definitely have been there from the start, because that's they promised us from the get go. It's like someone selling you a car and then when you get it you find out it's paddle driven... And then after 2 years the same guy comes back and tells you "How about an engine? Will cost you extra though..." No wonder people feels cheated. And also, comparing it to the PS3 slim? First of all, the only real difference between the regular and the slim is the size dimensions. Otherwise it's the same machine. And I never once heard Sony say anything like "we promise that our console will have this size" and if they would have it would have had no impact on the gameplay experience. Also, did the PS3 have any widespread tech flaw? And is so have they been improved in the Slim. There's no significant difference between the last edition PS3 fat and first edition PS3 slim apart from the size. In essense: In the WMP case Nintendo fixed their system to do what was promised initially. In Sony's case they made their console smaller and that's it. Nothing was fixed... There was nothing to fix. How the hell is that the same thing.

I think Nintendo made a good decision business wise in the way that they have handled VC. If they had spent time and effort updating their games there might have been more people buying them but the rate of release would have been significantly slower and purists would have buggered off. I don't think the service was designed for people to buy the games again it was designed for people who missed out on games from previous generations. They never lied about what VC was and wasn't.
The Wii Remote has been openly not 1:1 from the start and it has been publicly critisised for this since day 1. Would it have been better off with wonky 1:1 at day 1? I doubt it. In reality the real revolutionary thing was the concept of a motion controler so adding motion plus isn't anything like the "car with a paddle motor" analogy. The Wii Remote is probably better described as parallel to the D-Pad: very innovative and different but not very precise. Adding Motion Plus is more like comming out and saying "for $20 we can plug a thing onto here and BAM! its an analogue stick". If you think that's ripping off customers wait until you see how much the PS3 motion controller costs (its quite literally almost identical tech to the Wii Remote + Motion Plus).
The PS3 Slim comparison is valid because, like Motion Plus, it addressed some of the major complaints about the PS3. The PS3 was too expensive, the PS3 was too big, the PS3 was too power hungry etc, etc. These improvements don't change anything? the boost in sales disagree. I agree that Sony never promised these things but having said that... Nintendo never promised the things you are criticising them for either.
I bought mine because it looked like a fun system and for the most part it is, however i haven't seen many games coming out for it that interest me besides NSMB Wii.. so, i picked up a 360 and have a list of 15 games to buy for it as of today.
Because I am a real videogamer. Because I got tired of videogames pretending to be art and keep being more boring and boring. I always hated the 2 sticks controllers and the terrible amount of shooters out there. I am a gamer that has been since the Atari games and the NES ones, when games were fun and challenging. Not boring interactive movies.
The Wii gave me and keeps giving me all that. I love the future of gaming thanks to the wii. If it wasn't for the wii I wouldn't bought a console and maybe keep playing old games.
Also, I do love the idea of gaming been for everybody, not just limiting to the average cocky gamer. Seeing people that never touched a game enjoying wii sports or Mario Kart or Wii fit gives me a smile..is like a dream come true.

I'm in the pro-no-changes to VC camp too. I don't see why people would be disappointed in this, since it wasn't promised. If I wanted enhanced games, I could get DS or WW remakes of some games. Online multiplayer or leader-boards would be cool, but the games were fun before. Also, a lot of the games I bought, I had owned or at least played before. Having the original version brings back all the nostalgia factor. I guess having the enhanced and regular versions as options in a download would be best, but that would make it more expensive and slow down the releases. I'd rather pay less and just get the original game in all it's retro glory most of the time.
Yay VC!
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
In this exact order 1. The Virtual Console ( at the time I got my Wii the VC was at its peak) 2. Wii Sports (I still love it) 3. Super Smash Bros. Brawl 4. Promise of a new Animal Crossing game with online
I am from the future, where the release of Nintendo Wii is considered a significant landmark in the development of human culture and society. I have come back to participate in this is deeply important moment in history, in hopes that it will bring me a greater understanding of who I am and what it means to be human.

It was the next Nintendo System. The day they stop making system is the day I stop playing games. I know people are going to say there's other stuff besides Nintendo and I am missing out. Without a Nintendo it wouldn't be the same to me. I just honestly have no interest in anything else.
The main reason I got was for the VC. The NES was my introduction into the world of video games way back in 1985. So for me there are alot of old NES and SNES games that I enjoyed and didnt get for one reason or another so I figured I would be able to get them as well as a few classics that I lost over the years. I was hoping that the VC selection would have been better than it is but it could have been alot worst. Truthfully if it wasnt for the VC I probably wouldnt have bought it.
