Topic: Why did you buy Wii?

I bought the Wii because of it's Virtual Console function, the then-revolutionary control possibilities, the exclusive Nintendo-titles.

Gaming was going stale, uninnovative and quite exclusional with the introduction of the xbox and PS3 into the mainstream gaming market. I felt the Wii (now especially) appealed to many kinds of gamers. Many disagree, but I honestly believe that. Also, I grew up and had a family, I felt the other consoles were aiming chiefly for teenage and youth males rather than large, diverse players type. Also, the over-teched nature of them, for the sake of it, was a turn off. Nintendo Wii kept it simple and intelligent and with a very interesting gameplay mechanic.

I'm a PS1 and PS2 fan as much as a GB, N64 and GC fan - but I felt Sony turned its back on the evolving gamer that I had become with its PS3 and PSP.

There were two things that sold me on the Wii. 1. Motion controls and 2. a Zelda game that was a true successor to Ocarina of Tme on the N64.

I know there would only be like 4-5 retail Wii games worth it for me to play during the consoles lifetime, so VC was a major reason to get the Wii.

I have to this day not played any motion controlled games besides one quick half an hour in Wii Sports after unpacking the console, and some gimmicky control-shakes in Mario Bros Wii and DKC Returns

I was sold after seeing Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 at E3 2006.

Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Gamecube Support (my gamecube was dying)

New Nintendo system. It was my guarantee that I would have Nintendo's first party goodness and any excess third parties that wanted to play too.
