@Toon Link: I am sorry, but EarthBound will not be on VC, because the game is loaded with pop culture references (such as Monty Python for example), and this will involve copyrights and stuff.
Well that sucks for EB fans. It just shows the difference between the 90s and today. Back then, pop culture references could be found in any media. Nowadays, it's far too dang expensive.

Ugh, why do people still believe EarthBound has copyright issues? That was a rumor purely invented by starmen.net to try and explain to the thousands of irritated EB fans why the game still wasn't on VC.
And the Monty Python theme is also the Liberty Bell march, and certainly isn't copyrighted by Monty Python.
I have a slim chance that EarthBound will ever come, but if it did, it would be number 1 on the popular titles list, yes, even more popular than Mario 3! I mean, it is the most wanted game for VC (as it says on Nintendo Power)!
The Liberty Bell March isn't copyrighted to begin with. It's public domain. That's why Monty Python can use it.
The Beatles' songs, however, are not public domain, as you can well imagine. So obviously Earthbound cannot use melodies from their songs. And that is just one "small" example of copyright issues.
How on earth did you come up with this "invented rumor" theory? It would be nice if all the naysayers actually checked their facts instead of just blindly assuming Starmen do not know what they're talking about, despite the fact that they know the series inside and out better than just about anyone and have contacts in the business, including Nintendo of America.
@Adam I never said the Liberty Bell March was copyright of anyone. I'm well aware that it's public domain. EB's use of Beatles songs, from what I remember, are only slightly similar and hardly enough to even start a lawsuit with.
And you honestly expect me to trust a fan site that claims to have contacts with Nintendo of America? Yeah, right. Especially when said fans currently hate Nintendo for not releasing any Mother games in the US besides EB almost 15 years ago. They can make up any rumor they want to to stir up hate against Nintendo. Perhaps you shouldn't believe everything you hear.
Anyway, I would think that people would rather stay optimistic about an EB VC release, rather than just dismiss a re-release entirely based on weak explanations from a fan site.
